What would be a cool way of fitting vampires in to Scadrial? Could they steal abilities through hemalurgy? Affected by sunlight? What would their origins be?

Just a conversation I was having with myself.

A cool possibility for a Scadrian vampire would be some sort of being (possibly a mistwraith type being) with spikes for teeth that can temporarily transfer powers from someone, leaving the victim without powers and the vampire with power for a short time.

Just my thoughts.

I think I'd be great if they came about after the Ascension, maybe an offshoot of a previous race. Perhaps they adapted to low sunlight and must now live in hiding.

I like the temporary power idea for the Vampire. I think some memory would be another good thing to take too.

I feel that most things on Scadrial are superficial, created by a Shard or someone else, that it would be interesting to see if they could have developed naturally. I've always wondered what would happen if the higher powers weren't always shaping the world they want it.

A hemalurgic construct that's soul is so damage any hemalurgic trait "leaks" over time, causing them to loose it, so in order to maintain themselves they need to constantly consume blood, which is temporarily placed within their own veins that delays the decay of the spikes and thus maintains their existence.

Objects infused with the power of Harmony attempt to take control of them through their spikes, but their souls are so fragile that the process shatters their spirit webs and kills them.

Harmony created them to siphon off the extra Ruin essence he had to carry around but gave them weaknesses so that they would not prose a threat to the general population.  However a group of them figured out hemmolergy far beyond what anyone expected and grew reusable spikes into their mouths made of ruin's essence.  They fear sunlight and running water because they have a bit of Harmony's essence in them(at least on Scadrail).  The hole charisma thing is also easier to explain as zinc users would probably be the best alomancers to go after as they have no defenses and would be highly useful.

Brandon Sanderson? Are you reading this? Please? I would love to see something similar to vampires in a Mistborn.

I don't think Sandman gets on here anymore.

I love the whole charisma aspect of Vampires so that's great.

I also thought about their vision being based on seeing a person's Spiritweb, rather than the physical world itself, or maybe a combination of both.

@PeterAhlstrom does though. Hemalurgic vampires would be awesomely epicly superdupercool.

First Things First (and I hate to sound like a grammar teacher) it's Sanderson, not Sandman, and second: Brandon Sanderson Peter Ahlstrom? Are you reading this? Please? I would love to see something similar to vampires in a Mistborn.

I'm aware of his proper name, thanks, but I use nicknames for people I respect and will continue to do so.

Given that Brandon already has Investiture vampires in the Cosmere (you might know them better as the Returned from Warbreaker) I doubt that he'd ever do something like this. It's a nifty idea though. :D

I definitely agree on the Returned being "Investiture vampires", but Mr. Sanderson is known to talk about doing one thing one way, and then flipping it on it's head in another. Maybe it could be pulled off, instead of them being Gods, perhaps they'd be seen as demons or monsters.

I think that if we were talking Nathlis, then Nightblood is the real Vampire... except for the fact he's never been alive (Awakening non-withstanding).

And if Brandon Sanderson ever calls you out on it, say: I will use your proper name if you insist. But every man I've ever called by his proper name has betrayed me. A few men I've called by a nickname still have my trust to this day. I use one more reverently than the other. Sandman.
