“I...", her voice lowered, "killed them."

Of course the Voidbringers were humans. They were simply like Surgebinders of the opposite side. The Knights Radiant were humans, and so were the Voidbringers.

But just as Rob was about to say it, he looked to Shana and analaysed the situation, trying to remember what he’d read online about emotions.

“No, they were not humans,” Rob said in his stone cold certainty, because sometimes helping out a friend was worth more than the truth.

“They may have had a human’s body, but whatever soul they had was destroyed and replaced with a monster’s.”

Rob folllwed Ben’s eyes out the window. What had those Voidbringers done to themselves? Idly Rob wondered whether they had to bond a spren like surgebinders did.

I wonder what the characters would think if they knew the Voidbringer's perspective...

This makes me so sad -.-

Souls gone, they were monsters. Rob's explanation was as easy as Ben's and while it served for now, Shana knew, that they were wrong. Doc had said, that the voidbringers were like themselves, like their opposite. And that meant that they had souls. They were like evil magicians, but they still were magicians. The bus stopped and she pulled herself up, used the seats and the handholds to stumble outside, needed to breath fresh air. Her hands clung to the door to keep herself upright, when she inhaled, hoped that the cool air would clear her head. It didn't. It was nothing but cool air after all. Her back blazed in pain, but it was nothing compared to the feeling of blood on her hands. The noise when she had pushed the knife into the throat of the man. It was one thing, to kill them with her staff. Something else entirely to use a knife. To hear that last breath, to smell the blood.

Monster. They were monsters. A lie, but a good one, a safe one. At least she'd been to one to kill. At least this blood wasn't on Rob's hands, or James, or Ben's. It was her place, to fight to kill. To take this over. She had to. If she could remove that weight from their shoulders, then she had to.

Rob followed Shana out. She still seemed to struggle and he stood beside her, silently asking her if she needed support.

Everyone had a role. Every Order had their job to do. Rob’s was simple.

To endure, to stand where others fell. To support everyone and everything, like a stone pillar.

So Rob stood.

Gratefull Shana put her hand on his shoulder again, then hugged him.

"Thanks."

She told him again. He knew, he had to know. But still she felt like telling him again. And she probably would do so more than once. She was a teenager, she was allowed to be a bit sentimental. He'd saved Ben, he'd saved her. She was exhausted, tired and in pain. Still she smiled slightly apologetically at him, unsure if he was uncomfortable with her right now. Loosening her grip she stepped back from him and left her hand on her arm.

"Let's go home?"

Well, given that we didn't manage to rp a single day at school and at least my character has to go to school I'm not sure how to move it.

I won't post anything for the police officers anymore, unless Ene wants to rp Eiss a bit longer.

Nah, I might throw her into a conversation with a different NPC soon, but I'm good for now.

Quick question; would people rather have the plot stay here (in Seattle) or leave?

Definitely stay - most of us have extremely strong ties to this area and I can't see them leaving. Plus it just makes more sense plot-wise.

Seems like we're good with moving out of the police station, so: (correct me if I'm wrong about what time it is, that's often fuzzy to me in this RP :P)

Cassie lifted her face in the cool night breeze as they walked home. It was pretty late - the prom had been during the evening, and then everything with the Voidbringers had happened, and then they'd been questioned...it was probably past midnight, she reflected. Her hand dropped to her pocket, fingering the set of keys within, but she'd already decided going back for the car was too dangerous right now. First, get to the house. She could walk over and drive it back in the morning.

Instead she drew out her phone. The police had supposedly called Uncle James, but Cass didn't feel like taking chances after the events of the last few hours. She pressed the button to speed-dial his number and waited nervously. @Dr. Dapper

No kidnapping, then. In that case, Draug just got caught up in a fight with some Voidbringers. There may be a few explosions, but he'll be fine. :D

“Thanks,” she said and Rob nodded before tensing up when she hugged him.

He looked at her with a perfectly neutral face, but inside he was incredibly surprised. He remained still, unsure of whether to wrap his arms around her in a response hug or not. Eventually he just settled to staying as he was.

But someone was hugging him. Hugging Rob.

She smiled at him and loosened her grip, still grabbing on his arm for support. That was fine. Rob was great for support.

“Yes,” Rob said, looking to the house. He didn’t know whether to say anymore or if that would ruin his already thinning mask of neutrality.

“You are a good friend,” he deciding on saying finally, looking at her and then back to the house. A great friend, actually, from sparring to helping him debate to this.

"You're my best friend."

Shana smiled at him, then started to walk towards the house. She moved slowly, glad that Rob was here, that he supported her. Crawling back - no that wasn't an option. She was already on Doc's red list. Or at least she thought she was. They hadn't really talked, ever since that day in the kitchen. Somehow that also meant, that it was fine. If it wasn't, then he would most likely have told her to go away. Which he hadn't. And so she decided, that everything was fine, until he would talk to her again.

Looking up, she smiled when she saw the stars and stopped, stood there and simply watched these little bright lights for a moment.

"That's why we're here."

She pointed at the orion.

"Belt and sword, you can even barely see his legs."

"At least I tell myself, that this is the reason I am here. If everything was covered in violet, dark light, controlled by them, what would happen to the stars?"

Laughing at herself she looked back at Ben and James.

"And you guys. I'd do everything to make sure you're safe."

For a moment she looked at him again, then laughed some more.

"I'm sorry, let's just blame the painkillers for all this emotional stuff."

Painkillers. Rob looked to the stars, wonder in his eyes. Sometimes it amazed him how small everything was, how insignificant humans were, just by looking at the scale of the stars. The world had continued before Rob and it would continue after him, no matter how hard he would try to endure.

“We know you’d do everything to protect us, Shana,” he said, a hint of warmth in his voice. Sometimes he envied how easily other people could laugh, or how easily they could cry. Such things were still in Rob’s capacity, it was just that years of practise had almost prevented him from ever doing it naturally. “Don’t stress. You have been doing a great job so far.”

Looking down from the stars, Rob looked back at Shana. “I wonder if painkillers would make me emotional,” he said quietly.

"If you want to, I am a woman and a teenager."

Shana grinned at him, treasured the hint of warmth she heard in his voice. It was rare and it meant so much more then her laugh.

"I am a master at emotional outbreaks. I can teach you. The painkillers are just a convenient excuse."

Turning earnest she took his other hand in his.

"You are great, just as you are. If you want to change yourself, if you are uncomfortable, then I will assist in any way I can. But if you are happy, then there is no need to. You are a good person Rob, one of the best I know. If you laugh out loud, or just amuse yourself quietly, I don't care. If everybody were like me, the world would be a weird place."

Assist? Briefly Rob wondered whether it was possible, whether he could unlearn what his father taught him about never showing emotions, that displays of feelings were for women and no one else. The thought flickered in his head like a candle, but it sniffed out quickly. Rob was Rob. That would never change. And according to what Shana said, that was just fine.

Rob, great just as he was. No need to change.

“Tonight is a night of compliments,” he said earnestly back. He’d almost forgot that whole someone-going-with-his-date thing at the prom. “I am not uncomfortable. This is nice. Your words mean a lot to me.” And he left it at that, because it was getting as close to his emotions as he wanted to allow.

"Good."

Shana said simply.

"Should that ever change tell me. I throw a superb tantrum."

She let go of his hands and then continued her way back to the house, her legs shaking slightly. Exhaustion silenced her more effectively than anything else, even the short trip back from the hospital had left her shaking. Forcing herself to take step after step, she moved slowly, felt like a slug, but was too tired to care about it. Her grip on Rob's arm was everything keeping her upright, as she leaned on him more and more. It wasn't far. Only through the courtyard, up to the door.

Ben stood up and left the bus, nearly falling on the steps. Seeing how Shana was still having trouble walking, he moved as fast as he could towards the house, so he could heal her as soon as possible. The best he could manage was something in between fast walking and limping, but it would have to do.

James hurried to support him. "Whoa there bud." he said, a sympathetic smile touching his face "You won't be able to heal her injuries if you insist on injuring yourself to do so." Letting Ben lean on his shoulder, he began to slowly but surely make his way to the door.

If he's not going to answer, that works too, I just want to make sure you saw it before having her move on.

Ben relented, leaning on James and slowing his pace. Shana was strong, she would be fine. Didn’t stop him from worrying about her, though.

I've had days like that, they suck. I'm sorry to say that there's not really a solution other than just keep writing, even if it's only a little bit. It'll wear off in a while, hopefully. -_-

Doc rubbed his eyes and hung up the phone. His lawyer had said since most of those involved were minors, or acting in self defense, they would get off easy. No jail time. Doc could deal with fines and tracking equipment all day if none of his Knights ended up in jail. He sighed, and his phone began to, yet again, ring loudly. It was Cassie.

He picked up. "Hey Cass," he said in a tired voice, "They let you out, or are you calling from the station?"
