I just got to an area with pretty bad cellular data that is slowly getting worse, so I might take a while to post again. Depends on if I can find WiFi.

For the first time since coming down, James made note of Shana and Ben. He observed them for a moment, and grinned so slightly that it might not be visible for anyone else but him.

I ship it, he thought

Goodbye Lunamor.

Also, good job finding this secret message.

Flid got out a small sword and took it out of the sheath. For some reason, the sword felt familiar in his hands, although he had never used such a weapon before. It's a resonance, Bliss explained, the Stonewards were the main soldiers for the Knight Radiants. that's why you can use a sword as if you had practiced with it. Flid had no idea what his spren was talking about, so he ignored him. He needed to stop doing that.

Hmm... are you sure you are ok with them chasing you?

Glint’s glow faded slightly.

I don’t want you to get hurt.

When Shana grinned, Ben could only stare. She was pretty. Really pretty. He couldn’t believe that he hadn’t noticed it before. When she sucked in the stormlight, her faint glow and the pure white smoke rising off her skin made her seem ethereal, like she was some beautiful alien from another world. He certainly had never seen anyone quite like her on Earth. He was so captivated by her that he didn’t realize she had attacked the dummy until she said “Almost!” He turned to look at it, and his eyes widened. “That was amazing!” he said, running to the dummy to inspect Shana’s work. “It’s supposed to take at least a week of constant practice to even come close to this stage.”

Mahad slowed down, gently nudging Glint. He was supposed to have fun.

We could go and search for friendly birds?

There had to be some friendly birds, somewhere.

“It’s supposed to take at least a week of constant practice to even come close to this stage.”

Amazing, he thought she'd done something amazing.

"Well, I did practice both my surges before. Sometimes I can control them better, sometimes -"

Frowning she remembered her fight with Rob.

"But when I'm stressed, or afraid then I can't really concentrate anymore. I let myself get distracted so easily. When I'm fighting it's one thing, then I center around my weapon, my body recalling my training. As long as everything is under control I can do alright, but only then."

She admitted and smiled at him again.

"This morning for example I reached a point, where nothing worked anymore."

Realizing, that they were observed she waved friendly at Flid. Another new face, Doc was inviting new people all the time it seemed.

That's alright, just take your time. I should head to bed in about half an hour anyway.

I'm CEST right now, so it's nearing 10pm. But I have to get up early for work, so that's about as long as I should stay awake without ending up a zombie tomorrow.

When they entered the basement Edwin saw it wasn't empty. Shana and Ben were training with a dummy, though they didn't seem all that concentrated, it wasn't hard to figure what was going on there. Better to leave them alone. He thought with a smile. Instead he started looking around, he needed a place where he could get a good grip so he wouldn't kill himself by sinking on the ground if something went wrong.

Good idea.

He heard chirping from the roof of the house.

Let’s go check over there.

He set off in the direction of the roof.

“Maybe practicing with your surges a bit more could help. It took me months before I could do anything more than heal a scrape or change the color of my eyes.” He sucked in a bit of stormlight and made his eyes change from a light blue to an electric green. “I am going to go see if I can find someone who can fix this dummy.” He walked over to Leona. “Hey Leona, how good are you with soulcasting?”

what how many timezones does this span?

It’s 3:30 here.

Leona continued her practice, shooting at a set of targets on the wall about 20 yards away. She hit the bullseye some of the time, but not nearly enough. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Ben and Shana sparring.

She heard Ben and walked over. “Pretty good. What do you need soulcast?”

“Shana’s been practicing Division on the fingers of the dummy. Can you soulcast them back?”

“Hmm. Looks like wood. Uh, yeah I think I can do that.”

She reached into a bin of play-soj and molded into the shape of fingers. “I can’t just create matter, and air is very hard to soulcast.”

Closing her eyes, she entered shadesmar. She found the glass sphere that corresponded to the play doh.

you should be wood instead she told it

no

yes wood is wonderful. She tried to sound enforcing. wood is great

fine, she who shapes what is not her own.

She opened her eyes. Good as new. The dummy now had wood fingers again, albeit fluorescent orange. “Eh. Still shoot/stab/divisionable.”

“Thanks!” Ben inspected the fingers. I wonder if plastic is any harder to destroy than wood...

“Man, soulcasting is amazing. So you can make stuff out of more than play-doh?” Flid wasn’t sure why he kept finding excuses to talk to Leona. You’re so oblivious to emotions Bliss mumbled. What was he talking about?

Leona smiled. "Yeah. I use play-doh because I can shape it into whatever I want, then soulcast it. In theory, once I reach like the 4th Ideal, I could just soulcast things out of the air. I've tried though, and it doesn't work. Air wants to be free- play-doh is happy to be whatever I say. Thus I carry it around everywhere."

She picked up her bow and another quiver of arrows. "Want to shoot targets?" she asked. Not waiting for a reply, she loosed two arrows in quick succession towards a vaguely voidbringer-shaped target that somebody had painted a mustache on.

Kinda sad Lunamor didn't find my secret message.

Flid puts down the sword and picked up a bow and quiver of arrows. Unlike the sword, it didn't feel good in his hand, just stiff. He attempted to fire an arrow but it went wild and hit nowhere near the target. "Aw well. Practice makes perfect and all that.

Doc finished a block of code and stood up. He had spent far too much time in his workshop today. He needed to relax a little. He walked out of the workshop, closing the door behind him. He stood on the stairwell for a second, and, hearing the sounds of training from downstairs, he decided to join the younger Radiants.

Doc strode into the training room, heading directly for the weapon racks. He grabbed an odd looking crossbow, loaded it, and walked over to a target. Without saying a word, he pulled the trigger. Bolts sprayed out of the bow at an almost terrifying rate, covering the target. Doc smiled as he peppered the target with bolts.

I’m going to have Rob the only one who’s completely oblivious to Ben and Shana’s romance :P

Rob walked down the stairs, looking forward with training with another stoneward, though he wouldn’t dare show it on his face.

When he got down the stairs, though, he saw Flidimir sparring with somebody else. It seemed everyone was down here, with some sort of sparring partner or another. Except for him.

Rob slowly walked down, his face still neutral, and he gently picked up a training dummy and set it in a corner of the basement.

He took a deep breath, and began smashing it into the wall with all his strength, throwing it into the corner, picking it up and crashing it into the ground, after a barrage of full-power hits he finally inhaled some stormlight and with one punch he knocked the dummy’s head clean off.

Rob? Cup whispered, frightened. She was always frightened, though, so this was no different. Are you okay?

“Never been better, Cup,” Rob replied. His face had been completely neutral whole time.

"A very special crossbow. I built it myself." he grabbed the box mounted to the side and pulled it out. Crossbow bolts sat inside, "You see, the clip is spring loaded, so the bolts fall in as soon as the winding mechanisim finishes pulling the string back. Once the bolt falls in, it's fired, and the whole process starts over."

Didn't Shana say it was wood?

I grinned, watching everyone practice their Surges, and wondered vaguely if Edwin knew any more than me about Willshaper powers. I knew them in theory, thanks to my uncle's books, but not so much in practice.

also this is why the prom plot is a good idea. Angsty romance potential through the roof. Anyone know what happened to Jason and Ax?
