I’ve been seeing concerns about everything from non Brandon stuff to obscure un published cosmere, so I asked the mod team for their thoughts.

I don't think it's canon though, since this came at the end of what was essentially a godmod battle, which eventually just became ridiculous enough Voidus needed to step in.

Yeah I think I'd say Lopen stuff is at most semicanonical at this point, there was a lot of insanity there that doesn't really fit with the Alleyverse. And there hasn't been anything Discworld related since then.

I think 40K is the only significant non-Brandon related stuff that we have. The Church has it's mythology based around RWBY lore, but no actual powers IIRC, just cosmere equivalents that are sort of similar to some powers found in the RWBYverse. But there's no requirement to know much about the RWBY fandom to interact with someone from the church.

As of right now, we are discussing what we will try to do regarding the Era change. One of the ideas was putting it to a big poll to see what books and series we should allow magic from. Because people have had a variety of opinions on what should be included, and the people who have been in this RP has changed a lot since we first included many of the elements in it.

Even if poltergeists are allowed, unless they are a complete non combatant they would have a tough time being approved. In addition using their unique abilities to overcome obstacles in a plot would be heavily discouraged.

If we do add more stuff, we should add some of the Traveler's Gate stuff because that would be radical.

I would say add from Cradle, but there's too much leeway there.

I dont think we would add anything new. If anything we would look at what’s already in the index and try to figure out what people want to use and what people don’t, so we can focus on balancing the index with regards to the things that people want, as opposed to those that people don’t want.

This is fair. Though I'm of the opinion that anything Brandon has written should be allowed (including WoT).

This thread is for discussing general things about characters, both for proposed characters as well as asking about things on the Index, possible powers, general feedback on ideas, or just to give mods (and other people) a first look at the character. The other character thread is for actually submitting characters, and collecting them into a single list (though you can submit characters here as well).

I'd certainly say that only Sanderson stuff should be allowed. I'd be fine with eliminating some of his more obscure stories, too. Wheel of Time is a tough one, though, since he did write some of it, but he didn't originate the magic system. In my opinion, it should be fine, but I could be biased, since I have read the books. Other than that, integrating other works seems unreasonable. This is the Brandon Sanderson fan site, after all.

Unrelated question: do characters carry over between Eras? I've seen some things that seem to imply that they don't, but I was hoping to keep Aln around.
