Question: how do I actually get involved with either guild? For that matter, how would I go about getting involved in the RP itself?

Out of character, simply say you want to join. In character, we can set something up where your character meets a character from whatever guild you’re interested in joining, and they try to recruit (and presumably succeed in recruiting) your character. As for actually getting into a plot, decide which one you want to join (I can give you summaries if you want). Once you know what you want to do, you can start RPing in various ways.

I just noticed a question in your character bio - Era 2 Scadrians do have to Snap, but it’s considerably easier and can also be caused by extreme happiness iirc because Sazed felt bad. :D

Ene basically covered everything. If you have any questions please never hesitate to ask! I have found that choosing the right guild depends both on yourself and on your character(s). What do you want, what do they want, etc. Whatever you choose I’m eager to RP with you! I think Lita would find Rig quite the treat to get to know.

Based on Rigex's moral ambiguity, I have a feeling the DA might be best suited for him:lol:. Also @AonEne I would love to see a summary if its not too much trouble!

Lovely! You’ve made the right choice. As we like to say, “Join the DA, because morally upstanding citizens are about as interesting as furniture, and half as obligingly useful.” :D We shall figure out how to get you IC recruited.

And of course, I would be remiss if I didn’t offer you this lovely cookie. *pulls cookie out of coat*

What do you want a summary of?

@AonEne are there any threads you think Rigex could fit into reasonably well? Preferably something thats not too convoluted yet, if thats possible here in the alleyverse!

Well, the Era just started, so everything is pretty early on. I expect Zinc’s plot Into the Dark is going to get a bit complicated. Mutare Omnes might also. There’s the Ghostblood plot over in Oasis City, but you’d need to either be a GB or something else...you could join What Dusk Did Wrong This Week, though I can’t give you a summary of that one, or ask Fatebreaker if you could join his side of the DA miniplot. I don’t know if that’s actively happening somewhere. Or you could wander over to the Hall of Legends and do Nohadon’s thing, but that’s definitely complicated. I don’t know if the Walker-Melody wedding accepts random people, but that’s a possibility.

I can easily wiggle you into the list still! :)

I'd like to make one small change to the appearance section for Rig if possible;

Spoiler

Name: Rigex Lekal, but goes by Rig

Physical Characteristics: Tall, standing at around 6’4, with pale skin, brown hair, and blue eyes.

Investiture: Twinborn coinshot and firesoul, or allomantic steel and feruchemical brass. (I could use some clarification on the applications of brass, particularly on whether or not specific portions of the body can be heated.)

Skills: Respectable with a dueling cane, and a decent shot. Excellent liar and has expert control over his alomancy.

Equipment: Allomantic: Steel flakes kept on his belt at all times.

Feruchemical: A pair of brass forearm bracers where he stores most of his heat, and a necklace threaded into his skin where he stores heat during the most important parts of his life which he has never tapped.

Standard: A dueling cane and revolver.

Weakness: Rigex is convinced that his youth as a scholar and his life as a fixer give him a combination of skills better than just about anyone; he focuses on the flaws of others while only seeing his own strengths, leading him to underestimate just about everyone. He is incapable of acknowledging when he made a mistake and is a terrible judge of character, so he’s easy to play.

Family: Rigex has an uncle back in elendel who he is close with, and a younger sister who he hasn’t seen in years.

Home Planet: Scadrial

Backstory: Rigex grew up in a minor branch of House Lekal, studying maths and sciences through his childhood at the insistence of his father. At age 13 he was beat up by a few boys on account of his fathers behaviour, and snapped to become a coinshot(clarification- do era 2 scardians need to snap? I don’t think so but oh well). After that, he took up dueling with an uncle while continuing under his father’s tutelage. After the passing of his father at age 21, he moved to elendel and began working directly under house lekal to take care of any issues they needed to go away quietly. After failing to quiet a witness to one of the houses shadier transactions, he was tossed out and made his way to alley city one.

Guild: Don’t know enough about them yet-Somewhere with cookies, maybe?

Psyche: Confident. Friendly, but never particularly attached to anyone. Wishes he could be, though.

Personality: Motivated and Pragmatic

Appearance: Reasonably fit and good looking, generally wearing fashionable clothing and some jewelry. If he suspects there could be a fight, he wears a custom navy blue suit with  dozens of small coattails in place of a proper mistcloak.

Theme Song: Firebreather, by Macklemore

Fighting Style: He prefers not to and will talk his way out of any situation he can. If he must, though, he uses cheap shots and tricks whenever he can in combination with speed and precision, but not strength.

So just the addition of the suit-mistcloak. I wanted something similar to the duster Wax has as a spiritual successor to the actual mistcloaks, and i love the image of this.

I edited him accordingly. Just a short note for the future. If you want to update your character sheet, you can always post in the Character thread. This one here is for discussing abilities or first idead around a character.

How much would a Rosharan surge cost without the physical enhancements of Stormlight? How about Stormlight's physical enhancements without Surges, or all 10 surges combined? Would I get a discount, like the ones Feruchemists get?

Like Fur said, one surge fabrial is 15 per surge.

Regarding the physical enhancements:
F-Gold (50) and A-Pewter (45) are close to that. Given that both are more versatile than stormlight, since you can e.g. flare your pewter. I'd go with something around 65-70 for the physical enhancements. But please keep in mind, that a Radiant is like a package, it's hard to only take a part of it, without taking the rest as well.

How many points does it cost to be a Myrddraal (Wheel of Time)?

Quick summary of Myrddraal abilities:

Increased speed, strength, and durability (40)
Can make people afraid by looking at them (Zinc allomancy, but much more specialized: 10)
Have some way of sensing magic use (A vague feeling, without the details of bronze allomancy: 10)
Can teleport through shadows (20)
Have magic Myrddraal swords (30 if you want them to count as Shardblades)
Natural weapons (acidic blood, hardened fingernails), can control Trollocs (weak hemalurgic creations?) (5)
Looks like Slenderman

I'd add a slight discount for having to take everything as a package deal, so 100 points sound fair? If you don't want Myrddraal swords to count as Shardblades (and they really aren't as good), then 80 for the whole thing.

What do the swords do, exactly? And I’m not a mod, but I would place the natural weapons/controlling weak Hemalurgic creations at way more than five. I’d probably up the teleportation a bunch too, and maybe the making people afraid. Can they control the intensity of the fear? If not, how afraid do they make people? I also probably wouldn’t discount it, there’s not really a reason to discount any of that just because it all goes together. Not a reason I see, anyway, I could be missing something.

The swords are magically poisoned and more durable/sharper than normal swords, but that's about it. They don't cut effortlessly or weigh less like Shardblades, though I suppose the Investiture in them could let them block one. I don't think the natural weapons are worth much, because how often are you going to throw your blood on people or get close enough to claw someone with a Shardblade?

I see your point on the teleportation, it's really strong when you think about it more. 35? 40?

Hemalurgic creatures aren't exactly lying around everywhere, and a regular Rioter can take control of the weakest ones by Rioting fear anyways. I don't think Myrddraal can control the fear's intensity much either. From vsbattles:

Quote

Fear Gaze: Myrddraal have a passive ability that causes anyone in their presence to seize up in intense fear, preventing all but the very experienced or the very strong-willed from even moving. The effect is drastically enhanced if the Myrddraal looks directly at its target.

Strong, but compared to Rioting, very limited and brute-force, perhaps can't be turned off, and I'm not sure what the upper limits of Soothing/Rioting actually are. Emotional allomancy gets a lot of its strength from subtlety, and we don't see much forceful Soothing/Rioting in the books.

Feruchemists get a discount of hundreds of points compared to taking all the ferring powers, so that's where the 'package deal costs less' comes from.

I would generally discourage the use of Shadowspawn in general given that they don't exactly make for particularly cooperative characters in a group RP situation.

That being said a quick point assessment:
Physical enhancements: 50 (I'm actually tempted to put this higher, they're portrayed as a little more exaggerated than pewter and carries all the same effects, but particularly the ability to survive otherwise fatal blows)
Shadowporting: 40 (Teleportation is powerful, but to be fair Myddraal actually rarely use this ability in combat)
Fear: 20 (This would be higher but lowering it as part of the package deal, Myrddraal fear is much stronger than a Rioter and also is intrinsically linked to them specifically, Rioters can only control general emotional state, not tie that state to a specific thing)
Channelling sense: 20
Blade: 20
Skill: 50 (Skilled with a blade, this is an innate property of all Myddraal so can't really skip it)

Total: 200 points, 50 of which is skill related
Now in terms of officially adding this to the list there's probably a bit of leeway to remove some points given that this is a package deal, but in any event there would need to be some significant weaknesses for one of these to fall inside the playable realm.

If I want to make a character do I just put him/her/it in the RP characters list and than it gets adjusted or do I put ideas here and get feedback on it?

Just make a character and post it here, then the mods will give you feedback.

You can use this thread for Feedback, and the Alleyverse character thread to submit the character to be checked by a mod. (Although we can look over it here as well.). It would be great if you'd tag us, makes it easier, but usually one of us checks these threads regularly.
