So the way I see it doing that is by having it's followers believe the intended target is something. Like having ten people start the process, then when they have it rock solid and they believe it, they will present said person to the rest of the Fens, convincing them and making them believe it too. 

Though that could be off on how natural magic works, I'll have to double check it.

Ah, well, I'll go attend to that. What happens to someone who gets cut by the thing but not mortally wounded? Like, do they begin to become infected with the darkness? Or would Aldred's own Natural magic make him more durable to any kind of corruption? I want to write this correctly. 

Also, I'd have to agree that at least outside of the microcosm of the Fens, taking over an entire city, changing people into monsters etc, would require more collective belief than it likely has right now, at least based on my own understanding of the magic.

For normal people, it would begin a slow infection, as a small jink of itself is in the victim, slowly corrupting the mind until it can get the host to the Fens, where the main body of the creature. As for your person, it would leave a small scar, and a small thread of itself inn the wound, slowly draining his mind, tricking him into going further into the Fens. Did this help?

Yes thanks! I'll reply this evening. Aldred already feels the tug of this thing into the heart of its territory so having it simply strip away a bit of his mental clarity would probably be all it takes to get him to go further in.

You had been staying away from the creature at first, than saw @Sorana get taken and went after her? Possibly working up the structure as me and @Vargo Seldon and @ZincAboutIt showed up?

Here is how things are to my knowledge.

@Sorana, @Turtle373, @Vargo Seldon and me are at the tavern with Karl, Fritz, and the inn keeper. 

@ZincAboutIt is in the market I think?

@Steel Inquisitive, @Invocation and @MacThorstenson are in the Fens, standing there still I think.

We at the tavern just learned that the shadowed creature was searching he Fens for an ancient tomb that contained more beings like him, and he needs hosts in order to form a bridge to get them out of their prisons. And I am not sure what everyone else has been up to, but we at the tavern had been about to decide on going to the inquisition and informing them of the shadowed creature, while @ZincAboutIt had been nicked by the shadow, making it be able to talk into his head, it can't physically control him, but it can give firm suggestions.

On a scale of 1 - 10, how close did I hit?

So the monster broke Karl's neck. Is he still actually alive at the moment? Because in that case Lilia can heal him.

In that case Lilia can heal him. She can create a basic spell to keep his heart and breathing going within 2 minutes, basically putting him on life-support. Afterwards she'll have the time to fix his spine as well.
