Has anyone else started saying "storms" or "lord ruler' as an everyday exclamation? People always look at me like I'm crazy when I miss a shot in basketball and shout "Storm it!".

It’s not Cosmere but ‘Bajad Drovja’ is a common one for me, along with ‘Frak’ and ‘Frell’ because I’m an all encompassing sci-fi and fantasy nerd!

I don't reach for Cosmere words for ordinary swearing, no. But I do find myself playing Words With Friends and being annoyed that words like CHULL, FABRIAL, and SKAA were not in the game's dictionary. What? But they're in MY mental dictionary!

Hmm. In the non-Cosmere area, one word I find myself using for fun is hrair, the Lapine word to mean "uncountably many" for rabbits in Watership Down.  (Which a footnote notes means "more than four" since rabbits can't count very high. Heh.)

Yeah, I use all sorts of sci-fi/fantasy stuff to curse around my parents and small children. I called someone a nerfherder the other day and told them to storm off.

I got some strange looks.

From the not-at-all real advance copy of The Lost Metal that I totally have not had a look at:

Quote

"By Harmony's lost testicles!" Steris shrieked, pointing to the enormous windows of the cathedral facing the sunset.

The profound blasphemy, coming from such an unexpected source, shocked everyone - even the red-eyed Trellists - into a stunned moment of surprise. As if against their will, everybody stopped and looked in unison, squinting into the light of the sun on the horizon.

Almost everybody. In that moment of stillness, Wax and Wayne blurred as Wayne put up a flared speed bubble large enough to contain the entire room - but because everybody else was still processing what was, or was not, happening, they had the advantage. With several well-aimed blows, all seven of the Trellist agents appeared to Steris to just collapse at the same time.

"Now THAT'S how you do the Covingtar Hoedown," Wayne said with satisfaction, as he dropped his bubble. Seeing Steris' look, he added, "You know, the Do-Si-Do. In Covington it's done with three people."

"I can't believe you talked me into adding that to my list," grumbled Steris.
