Great one liners

Recommended Posts

I am bored, and wanting to play in photoshop so I'm want to compile a list of great one or two line quotes that could be turned into icons easily. (such as these: http://smg.photobuck...inbowRose/euol/).

I know they're not the greatest, but I figure I can't improve if I don't try. *shrug* Also, I mostly do it because I'm bored and it's a way to entertain myself.

Anyways, any you can suggest are great!

The obvious: Kelsier - "There's always another secret."

"I believe that's the sound the world makes when it pisses itself." - Wit

"Errorgant, perhaps. It means to be twice as certain as someone who is merely arrogant, while possessing only one-tenth the requisite facts." - Shallan

"The foolishness of men who care and the brilliance of those who do not. The second depend on the first - but also exploit the first while the first misunderstand the second, hoping that the second are more like the first. And all of their games steal out time. Second by second." - Wit

"A story doesn't live until it is imagined in someone's mind." -Wit

I always tag this kind of thing in good books :)

There's an awesome quote from Shallan in WoK (possibly my favourite). Can't remember exactly how it goes, as I don't have the book on me, but it's when she's trying to haggle the price of books with the bookshop owner, and he says something like "My lady, I do believe you stray into sarcasm" (correct me if that's wrong), and she replies "Stray? I thought I ran into it head first screaming at the top of my lungs." (again correct me if that's wrong).

Since I have the book handy....

pg 136, WoK hardback

"Brightness... I believe you stray into sarcasm." - Master Artmyrn

"Funny. I thought I'd run straight into it, screaming at the top of my lungs." - Shallan

I'd totally forgot about that one. Tagged!

Nice work. Wow, I was way off. I got the general idea of the quote but a massive fail on accuracy. Still my favourite quote, though.

Ooh! Fun lines are the stuff of my Goodreads reading status updates. :D

"No, no assassins yet. I guess I've already got too much chull sass of my own." -Wit, WoK p.326 UK ed.

"You're so conservative that even your socks are more traditional than the rest of us." -This one's from Elantris, but I forgot to note who said it, and what page number.

"I hope you Free Kingdomers aren't too put out to discover that dragons didn't come and bow to me at my birth. I wasn't tutored by the spirits of my dead Smedry ancestors, nor did I kill my first Librarian by slitting his throat with his own Library Card." -from Alcatraz Versus The Evil Librarians

"Now I've already spoken about foreshadowing (a meddling literary convention of which Heisenberg would uncertainly be proud.)" -Also from Alcatraz #1

"You see, that is the sad, terrible, sorry thing about sarcasm. It's really funny." -Again, from Alcatraz #1

“War is far worse. At least where politics is going on, there are

usually nice hors d’oeuvres.” -Warbreaker

Here's the first four I have done (sorry it's taken me forever)! I'm just chugging away at them, and will update the top post as I finish more.

I hope you guys like how they turned out. (Some of them I like a little more than others.) Also, the secret avvy actually does have a secret in it. :D

Also, I'm going to try and do everyone's quotes, but I might change it a bit, or else skip over it for now if it's too long.

AoL spoilers:

"I bought a ward against logic. It allows me to add two and two an' get a pickle." (paraphrased)

"How would an ammunition store get into a volcano?"

The line's funny enough in context, but even more hilarious when taken out of context.
