I think that timing of the pantheon doesn't really matter, so much as the method of inserting. I think a lot of stuff will be going down in between the 2 eras, and how things are inserted could provide some direction for the Next Era

If the Era ends because of a fight between the OP characters that causes destruction and we need to step in like the Valar rounding the world in LotR, then it would be appropriate to insert as the main result of the conflict. It would also make sense for it to have a very large impact on the society and the such.

Where as if it is inserted quietly, lets say that someone discovers it, then its less likely that it will be a major player in the next Era.

I've got a really good idea. So far, the Alleyverse has been devoid of things like sickness. So if an investiture feeding plague were to hit, causing violence and insanity among the most invested...

But yeah, OP fight works for me, and get's godhood inserted well.

I'm a little torn on whether or not Voidus should participate if that happens. I do have a plan that makes things a little easier (If anyone ever decides to let him out of the barrier that is) but even so.

Oh hes never leaving.

After my gaffe last time I have a least 2 or 3 realistic ways to reconstruct him right now.

There are a lot more unrealistic ways.

I actually am getting fed up with Mac. I'm sorry, but the whole point is to get rid of OP characters, and he isn't exactly something you can beat. I believe we either have to get rid of him, or find an excuse that he'd never be seen again. Also, it annoys me that you are trying to stop OP characters with everyone else, and won't get rid of storming MAC.

Oh yeah, I think you'd do a great god of justice.

Mac generally abides by the DAs restrictions of not intervening too much other than to reduce the casualties of other OP armies/characters. Other than the GB ball I can't think of any time he's intervened that hasn't just been a defense of the DA.

I know, but that still annoys me. If we have a god stepping in everytime things gets out of hand, it's unfair. And Mac is about as close as you can get.

If you send a giant army and a supertank into the city where a bunch of superpowered morally ambiguous DA lurkers live you shouldn't be surprised when one of them steps out to deal with it. I asked Mac to do that.
I did make this clear at the creation of the RP, the DA was never intended to be balanced, so we don't engage in duels or go after other guilds or directly interfere much but we're also not going to sit by if someone invades our base.

Actually I recognize that I am a part of the problem in creating OP characters.

I am a large reason that this issue exists and that's why I am actually supporting getting rid of OP characters as a whole. I thought that I was implying that I would abide by those rules by trying to create them. If that wasn't obvious then let this be my official statement that I will abide by any restrictions OP characters have. I have been trying to do that consistently and with the exception of the GB ball always make sure that I have approval of a mod before intervening. And I try to make sure that the mod is wearing the mod hat when I ask them.

Until we iron out the rules for the whole situation, is there anything else that I should do?

Yes, which is one of the things that makes me really annoyed. Frankly, it's hypocritical. We're trying to make guild fighting, but making fighting the DA impossible. We're trying to tone down OP characters, then leaving the most OP of them. I really hate that.

I tried to avoid giving anyone a reason to fight the DA, but I don't want to retcon a bunch of previous worldbuilding or make previous characters obsolete without their writers permission. When the setting was established I was as clear as I could be about this but I have a lot of friends who put a lot of effort into worldbuilding and characters and I don't want to step all over that.
In a practical sense this is no different for the DA than it is any other guild, if you try to destroy TUBA then you need their permission, same as if you want to kill a character. The only difference with the DA is that there's an in-world justification for this. So yes they're OP, but with the lack of interaction or duels I hope that we've avoided the problem of an arms race or stifling character development.

It's like the moon, sure you can't destroy it, but it's also not exactly doing anything to you so why would you want to?

Well you see, that moon is causing tides, which are really annoying when trying to launch boats on sub-par ramps.

So I do have a reason to destroy the moon.

Well then, even less reason to attack the DA. We definitely don't cause the tides.

I knew I was right in suspecting you of something. How could you?

Probably. That definitely sounds like something he'd do. Curse him, he's always one step ahead.

Ark smiled, becoming somehow wider, and he was suddenly dressed in christmas attire. "I'VE CHANGED MY MIND! I AM GOING TO BE *insert drumroll here* GOD OF CHAOS AND HOLIDAYS! You know, 'cause they're like the same thing."

I roll my eyes, but understand the connection between the two.

"I'm staying as Reason and Logic unless anyone has any objections," I say.
