Sorry man, too invested on my world, can't leave.

Hey, that's no problem. I have a sword that can cut through space/time.

Hold up, how did you get that?

Well, I guess I've had enough Experience on my planet, so I'll come over for dinner at yours.

@Frustration

So your going to destroy it, to kill off the life forms to free yourself? Or Nameless's sword?

No, that would be pretty cool though. Unless... No. I guess I could know them, and I just don't know they joined the Shard. That would be crazy.

I wouldnt need to kill the life forms. There is another Shard who resides on the planet and it will still function normally if I leave for a short time.

See your invested there, you CAN"T leave. You would have to rip yourself out, and that is basically impossible while people think of your investiture as part of the world.

They don't. They only know about the other Shard

Even if they don't know about you, your investiture is in the world i.e. landscape, perpendicularities, terrain, ground, metals etc. are invested, not as heavily as say Ruin/Preservation as I assume you didn't make your world, but your stuck.

Minor Mistborn SH spoilers.

Spoiler

They talk about the fact that Ruin can't leave while intelligent life exists on Scandrial

WoB that kind of tones down what I'm saying but you get the point

Questioner

When one of the shards, like Odium, move from world to world in the cosmere, does their presence, like the metals they leave behind and their magic, leave with them?

Brandon Sanderson

Odium never really settled on a planet.  He is now settled on Roshar and his magic has permeated things.  Leaving would be very difficult for him. It would either involve leaving behind some of his power or ripping that out, which would be a difficult process.  So yes it is very tough to leave.

Wait, do you two know each other in real LIFE!?!?!?

It's possible, I have recommended the Shard for my friends but I doubt it.

Okay...*still supicious*

Incredibly unlikely my friends have not expressed interest.

Hey @Experience! I heard you were having some problems with being too invested in your homeworld to leave it. I took care of that for you. The secret is to cut the investiture out instead of just ripping it out willy-nilly.

Ya, could I borrow that sword?

Nope! It's bonded to my spiritweb so strongly that not even a Shard can rip it out.

Why are they under-powered?

Cause you just cut the investiture out of Experience.

I cut the power out of the planet not Experience.

Well forget preparing that will take you until the end of the Cosmere.

Not with my sword. It's far stronger than Nightblood, and far more precise, allowing me to cut out investiture at blinding speed.

And murdering an entire population, and the planet on the way.
