I do ask why you seemingly avoided the question.

Which would you choose to abide by on the fringe cases, the letter or the spirit? Think about all the times Skybreakers and Windrunners clash in SA. I think that is really the big divider there. Yeah, the spirit and the letter say 'dont murder' but in the fringe cases where they don't neccassarially agree, which would you choose to abide by?

See, I understand that, but again, sometimes they conflict. Then, which will you choose?

I'll second @NerdSandwich. I can't think of a situation in which the letter of the law would say "You must do this" while the spirit said "Don't do that."

if you can think of an example I'd be more than happy to answer, I just can't think of any.

Yeah, I feel like they just aren't complete opposites as well. Idk if I could choose well between them.

I just want to throw a question out there really quickly

I think it was already said that the law is basically trying to put people's moral standings/feelings of right and wrong into words. But if those words were manipulated by an unsavory power, would you still follow it to the letter?

Like, if the laws put into place somewhere were clearly wrong in some way, or causing people harm, would you still want to follow them? I just think of a like dictatorships or any equally unregulated and unrestrained powers. They typically come into power by rewriting laws to work in their favor, regardless of consequence. Would you still follow the harmful, rewritten laws just because they were the written law?

Sorry if that's a big question. I just want to get an idea of your idea of the "law"

Well I suppose I might as well answer the question.

As I stated earlier, I'm an anarchist. I view almost all "laws" as inherently immoral. Power to force another to do something is so fundamentally terrible, that I do not think any human being on the planet deserves to have it.

I also believe that the purpose of laws is not to define right and wrong, only to protect the rights of the individual from others. When people with power declare something to be a "law" that violates this principle it has also voided its standing as law and can be ignored, because at that point it's just an order with a threat behind it.

Now often times it's not safe to violate said "laws", but I can't blame someone under durress for practicing self-preservation.

Yeah I'm not an anarchist, but freedom is one of my main values, partly why I'm a Willshaper

I think it's funny, because if you ask most people they'd probably put anarchists in the order of Willshapers, but they never really appealed to me.

Oh yeah there's some interesting assumptions about radiant orders.

It's funny how Truthwatchers seem to be inherently Ravenclaw as well, but I'm a Slytherpuff.

Technically, I am part Ravenclaw, so I suppose you could say the same for me.
