less philosophy and more civics and psychology lol

what gets really interested is how human experience has us interpret objective morality differently

Yeah, I think sometimes the letter of the law can be wrong. The question seems quite flawed.

No one disputes this, but that wasn't my question.

My basic premise is that while different the letter and spirit of the law do not conflict and a truly lawful person will obey both of them.

Therefore the Knight Radiant quiz question asking you to choose between them is wrong.

Yeah, that's what I meant when I said that the question seemed flawed. I didn't mean to imply that that was why the question was wrong, but rather reasoning as to why I put Spirit of the Law.

interesting. do you mean philosophically or practically? Because there are laws out there that are definitively morally wrong.

I think you're a Truthwatcher. Can't quite tell

That's interesting because if anything Truthwatchers are the order I relate to the least; while I don't think lying is good, I can very much sympathise with people who do. From what we've seen of the order so far, they focus a lot on the fact people are lying rather than what caused them to do so.

That comes down to how we define a law.

Personally I don't think someone with a big stick saying that something is a law makes it a law.

so what do you define as the letter of the law?

The same way anyone else does, the letter is the exact writing of the law.

I just have an interesting view as to what writings are law and what aren't.

My full definition on that would be a long post about justification, concent and governance where I would explain how the only justifiable systems of government are theorcacies(or at least partially theocratic), or anarchy.

However as that's highly political I'll refrain from doing so here.

Indeed, however can you not also keep the spirit of the law while violating the letter?

I do ask why you seemingly avoided the question.

Which would you choose to abide by on the fringe cases, the letter or the spirit? Think about all the times Skybreakers and Windrunners clash in SA. I think that is really the big divider there. Yeah, the spirit and the letter say 'dont murder' but in the fringe cases where they don't neccassarially agree, which would you choose to abide by?

See, I understand that, but again, sometimes they conflict. Then, which will you choose?
