She could not put off paying her respects to her friends any longer, despite the fact that Wit was still pestering them. She had no desire to speak with the man on such an otherwise lovely evening. "A witless Wit and a stone as violet as the wine he is undoubtedly intoxicated with," Aesudan observed. "You should keep the moss; between you and Highprince Sadeas, I think you must bear the greater kinship to an unwanted weed tonight." "In any case, I have no need of your vegitation," she added, procuring her bouquet of colored fingermoss. "I brought some of my own." I took back my decision about waiting on the cremling. I promptly pulled it out and put it on her fingermoss. "There. Now it looks like you in that dress." 2

Aesudan glared at the creature that was now steadily crawling down a stalk of fingermoss, towards her hand. "Thank the Almighty that you are here at least, so that I will look presentable in comparison. I am inclined to suspect you carry around a cremling simply because it is the only creature that lacks the requisite intellect or volition to be properly disdainful of you." She flicked the bouquet, catapulting the hapless cremling back towards Wit.
Mint Heron Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 I caught the cremling. "Actually, I'm quite confident this guy is way more intelligent than you. And trust me, it is quite disdainful of me. It made me take it with me!" I glared at the offending bug, and put it in the pocket with the moss. They were good at listening, however annoying they are.
Magenta Albatross Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 "You would know," Aesudan said sarcastically. "One of the perks of interacting primarily with cremlings, I'm sure. I await your revolutionary dissertation on the overlooked virtues of cremlings with much anticipation."

Compared to me, you basically are cremlings. At least in terms of what you have seen. And in that, both this cremling and I are far superior to you. I once told an amazing story to this cremling. And it really appreciated it, unlike the last time I tried to tell a story to Gavilar, and he was just left confused." I shook my head. The alethi elite weren't ignorant... but perhaps they weren't quite worth trying to explain anything to. So, I decided to walk away. However, that had been the best part of the evening. Hopefully, I could top that.
Cream Tuatara Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Navani ordered another drink, feeling herself sway slightly.

Hopefully, I could top that. "In terms of what I have seen? I am regrettably looking at you right now, so I would have to agree with that sentiment. I don't think even Dalinar is drunk enough yet for one of your stories to start making sense." The king's Wit retreated, and Aesudan shook her head. Of all the Alethi customs to revive with the restoration of a unified Alethkar, this was not one she understood. The only use she could think of is that it possibly served as a sort of release valve when highprinces were in the mood to assassinate somebody. "Brightlord and Brightlady Sadeas, Brightlord Amaram," she nodded. "I hope the feast is going well for all of you. It's a shame that Wit was causing such a scene."
Emerald Falcon Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 (edited) Ialai stopped another smile as Wit left once again. It appeared Aesudan had a sharp tongue and mind, enough to match his. She would have to remember that, as she suspected that the Prince’s wife was often politically underestimated. “A shame, indeed. Sometimes I wonder why King Gavilar fond enough to keep him, given how much he slanders his family and allies. How long can he possibly meddle with things? No matter. But the feast is going well, thank you.” Edited September 11, 2018 by SE_Ialai_Sadeas Added Gavilar’s title
Indigo Weasel Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 (edited) Ivory wandered the feast hall, sticking to the shadows to avoid being seen. He felt lost. He'd thought he had a good grasp on what he was here to do, but the newest instructions had thrown him off entirely. He started wondering whether anyone had been tampering with those messages, but the only one he reckoned capable of and interested in doing so was clearly otherwise occupied. Quote I reckon this game has several loosely aligned* factions (the parhsendi, the Kholins, the sadeases, the heralds) and a couple of Neutrals (wit, me), but I doubt anyone's win-cons are easily guess-able. In particular, I very much doubt any of the parshendi+Szeth currently have the 'kill Gavilar' win-con. Remember that this was something that was planned at the last minute in the books, when the Parshendi believed they had no other option based on something Gavilar had done, and depending on how this game plays out it might never come into play. *so they might not be officially called factions, but their goals align, rather than clash. Edited September 11, 2018 by SE_Ivory small clarification
Cream Tuatara Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Quote I'm not sure about factions, because if there were, I'd suspect I'd be in one, which I'm not. I could see docs as places similar people can discuss alliances and gossip, but not a team wincon. Navani heard her husband's name being said, so like the good wife she was she got up from her chair (holding onto the table for stability) and turned her head to Ialai and Aesudan, shuffling toward them. "Hello," she said. "What's this about Gavilar?" Was this how it felt to be drunk? On the brink of toppling over, giggling, and sleeping? She'd only had two glasses of blue wine! Navani tried to keep herself balanced and upright, trying to maintain an aura of authority despite being, without a doubt, intoxicated. It was painfully obvious, but Navani still hoped no one would notice she certainly couldn't hold her alcohol. It was still so confusing. Men spoke of being drunk like the state was their best friend, but right now Navani was overwhelmed by the drink. She smiled, in a crazy sort of way.
Fuchsia Ostrich Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 "Mother, would you like me to locate some anti-toxins for you? I know we have some around here that will help neutralize the alcohol a little" Jasnah said in a hushed tone as she walked up to Navani. Jasnah made it a rule to only drink wine in private, and stick to the lighter ones at that. She could not bear intoxication when there was so much to be observed. Instead she turned to grab a glass of pure, soulcasted water. "It looks like you've drinken too much, mother. I believe, from experience that a slight intoxication can enlighten some parts of the mind, however, too much makes the whole mind dull, and frankly, you usually keep up with the utterances of Wit, but right now, he may be able to talk circles around you."
Cream Tuatara Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 "Oh, nonsense, Jasnah." Navani screwed up her face and waved her daughter back. The truth was, she quite liked this new experience. It was different. Navani made a mental note to do more tests on this. Perhaps she'd use Dalinar as a test subject. He seemed to have mastered the art of drinking. See? Navani thought as she stumbled back to turn, leaning on Jasnah. I'm still smart. "Some of the best artworks were created while drunk, you know," She whispered to Jasnah. "Ask your father to show you some time." Taking a deep breath, Navani resumed trying to act proper.
Azure Mouse Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 "Queen Navani, it is good to see you're... enjoying yourself." Despite what Sadeas though of a lighteyes of her rank allowing themselves to grow so intoxicated in public, he didn't dare express such disappointment toward her. Gavilar, despite Sadeas' loyalty and their long friendship, might do something rash in response. "We were just wondering at your husband's reasoning for keeping a Wit. Allowing such a man to deride the king's closest friends and advisers is unusual at best."
Pearl Chameleon Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 There were nine Herald statues in the hall. Ash... You fool... You know I can't let this slide... Nale, at all times, tried to keep himself in a state of cool, calm, reason. Justice must not act rashly, but act impartially, with a consideration of the facts and nothing else. But, at this moment, it was all Nale could do not to smash his fist into a wall into frustration. Why tonight?! Why, of all nights, did you have to do this tonight! She was jeopardizing everything. Nale often felt like his mission was like treading water - stop for one moment, and your head dips below the surface. Moments like this... this panic, was when his head dipped below the surface, even for a moment. You couldn't hesitate, performing justice. You couldn't pause, or stop, for anything, let alone for personal matters. Ash... I'm sorry, but we both know I have to do this. Why did you make me have to do this?! Nale paused. He needed to clear his head. He couldn't afford to be in this state of mind - he couldn't allow for mistakes. Perhaps an ardent. That would allow him to clear his head. He needed to figure out what his next course of action, and talking it through might help with that. After that, he'd deal with the Inkspren. And Ash.
Amber Vulture Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 I didn't know what had happened to the Statue of Shalash. It had been there that morning when Navani and I had checked the preparations in the hall, but now it was gone. One of the foreign Dignataries, Nale, was standing in front of its absence. I couldn't see his face, but he looked tense. I excused myself from my other conversations and went to join him. "Simply Tragic isn't it? My servants alerted me to it's theft a few hours ago. I don't know why it was stolen, or by whom, and it happened to close to the feast to get it replaced."
Mint Heron Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 I walked over to where the herald and the king were looking at the missing statue. I decided to entertain myself by pushing past them, and taking the pose of Ash.
Amber Vulture Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 I stared balefully at my Wit. "Do you really think you're a good enough artist to fill in for a Herald Wit?" Quote OOC: @SE_Wit is your character Hoid? As far as I know, Hoid was hired as the Wit after Gavilar's death.
Mint Heron Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Quote That it is true, but Hoid-Wit is way more fun than normal person Wit. "No, my king. I just felt as though the space needed filling. Would anyone be able to get me a particularly revealing dress?"
Amber Vulture Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 (edited) "Try one of the servants. Maybe ask the servant @SE_Liss to get you one that makes the colors in your eyes pop." Edited September 11, 2018 by SE_Gavilar_Kholin
Azure Mouse Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Torol watched Wit attempt to impersonate a Herald with a bit of shocked amusement. However, there were more important things to worry about at the moment. Even so early in the night, he'd heard too many rumors of people planning attacks. He'd even heard of someone getting attacked already, though unsuccessfully. The most troubling thing, though, were the rumors against himself. He was a Highprince. He should be above such plots. No one should dare attack a Highprince, let alone Sadeas himself, a friend of the king. Sadeas stood to make an announcement, explaining the rumors and what he'd found. "I have finally tracked the source of those rumors, to Adolin Kholin of all people." Sadeas was incredulous when he heard the news. The young son of Dalinar had wanted to kill him. "The child should be thrown out before causing any more trouble."
Onyx Flamingo Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 (edited) Liss started laug... I mean, coughing violently. "That sounds like a wonderful idea, your majesty... ... ...and Wit." She mumbles the last words. And dashes off to find something in the palace that would be... Suitable. Quote I now have some very awkward Google searches looking for info on revealing clothing on Roshar... : ) (Info such as where it is from, if any nobility wear that type of clothing so I could take it from their wardrobe... Etc.) Liss heard Sadeas start to give an announcement. She continued on as it wouldn't have anything to do with her... She kept walking... Then stopped in her tracks, and slowly turned around. Emerald Falcon Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 “I agree with these claims,” said Ialai. “I have seen the evidence for myself, and Adolin Kholin is the culprit.”
Fuchsia Ostrich Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 (edited) Ialai, It would help if you added the word color into your coding ['color=red] [/color'] of course, that's without the ' marks Edit. Ignore this post. It was fixed by the time I posted this Edited September 11, 2018 by SE_Jasnah_Kholin
Amber Vulture Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Impossible! Why hadn't I heard of such thing already. My Nephew trying to kill Torol? "Adolin? Is this true?" @SE_Adolin_Kholin
Mint Heron Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 I watched Lisa run away to actually do it. Hah! It would be entertaining to see her try and get that on him. Then I heard what Sadeas said, and I sighed. “My king, I know for an absolute fact Adolin has never and never will have such plans. Last night he assisted me in a task, and l can assure you it was not to kill Sadeas. After all, if Sadeas were dead, I would no longer have a suitable equivalent of my mossy rock to make fun of! Life in this court would become boring.”
