Hallo! I'm 1st of Lunch. Initially snookered by The Rithmatist, then The Reckoners......

...and then I found the Cosmere.

Hey there, how are you?  Welcome to the 17th Shard!  What was your first cosmere story?  Mine was the first Mistborn trilogy.  Have an Upvote! :)

Uh...probably badly drawn 1990's X-Men..

Excellent answer! This would be one of the few times Spyke would be one of my first choices. I'm not sure how well the other's powers would translate into chalkling form.

Hmm...interesting, but I think Wolverine would make a pretty good heavy tank to send out to batter an opponent's circle!

First Cosmere story was WOK, recommended by a friend. At first I tried to read an ebook version and "couldn't get into it" but probably a year later found the audiobook version (LOVE Micheal Kramer and Kate Reading) and was pulled in! Listened to the Mistborn Trilogy between WOR and OathBringer, then second Mistborn Trilogy after OB. Just finished Arcanum Unbounded.

Usually, yes, he would be a good choice. Wolverine would destroy everything in his path. But I'm not sure Chalkling Wolverine would have a healing factor (how would you draw it in?) Without it, he's just a spry guy with knives in his hands. (Hang on, without his healing factor he's dead from adamantium poisoning...) At that point, I'd rather have the Blob than Wolverine. His only other power would be his sense of smell (as used in the original cartoon series a lot), which would be less than useful in an open arena where the chalklings can all see each other anyway.

(No offense to Wolverine. Alberta's finest is usually pretty awesome.)

Yeah, see, you're not thinking like a rithmatist. The idea of chalklings is that they are basically representations of an actual thing, not THE actual thing. So chalking Wolverine doesn't need healing ability. He just needs to be drawn strong and tough and many times. He then becomes and army of beasts that will slash and chew through and enemy's circle and take several hit points to destroy. While the opposing rithmatist is trying defend against the angry hoard of wolvies coming at him I can establish my defensive lines, fire my own lines of warding or even draw some chalkling Cyclops and tether them to strategic defense points around my circle. They would be fast, sleek and therefore not take as much damage but would shoot lines from their eyes at attacking chalklings. I think you get the picture...

Hello, and welcome to the Shard. Have an upvote, and Happy reading. Who’s you favorite Brandon Sanderson character?

Also, I love your username. :D

And an upvote to you as well!

Hmm...favorite character? Man, that's hard, really hard. I mean, I really like Sazed from Mistborn because of his character development, but also Shallon for the same reasons, and I love her wit (for that matter Pattern is hilarious!). For humor one could go with either Wayne or Lopen. But I think it may be Lift, of Edgedancer fame. So funny and irreverent but innocently so, and yet she holds so much promise for the entire series I think, just because she has so much room to grow. I'm looking forward to what Brandon does with her.

As long as he doesn't kill her.

Same. My uncle and cousin like to recommend audiobooks for me. One of them was WoK. From there I listened to Steelheart, Rithmatist and Warbreaker and loved them. Eventually got WoR, then Emperor's Soul. What books have you read, and (of most interest to me) do you think an Honorblade or Nightblood would win if two swordsmen of equal skill got in a fight?

Other than the books mentioned in my previous post I have only read the Reckoners series. As far as your question about Nightblood or an honor blade, well, I really don't know. Not very familiar with Nightblood yet. Sorry if that's disappointing...
