GOODNESS

Haly, are you having a stroke? Do we need to intervene somehow? :P

"Um . . . no. What about you? What happened to your tattoos? I can heal those burns if you want me to."

"Fine." Kion feels a strange tugging sensation, then the Moni inside the cave stands up, pulls a rope from her pack, and begins tying up the Moni outside the cave.

Malevolence gasps for breath on the floor, throat raspy. "As you command, it will be done. But still, information would improve my odds of success. If you don't wish to explain it to me, perhaps a subordinate could?"

What offer was this? The one I must deny due to my... conscience?

He sneered. "Very well. Enullers can dull your abilities, and do much more, Narrators can create whatever they wish." he said. "You ought to know these things."

"You too." He looked down. "I... don't know what happened to them. But if you can heal me like this, I... wouldn't be mad."

It might be worrying, though.

She Narrated his burns to heal.

Rebus takes a deep breath - he doesn’t need to breathe, but it’s habit - then floats into the rift.
Kion expects nothing less, taking it as proof it’s the right Moni.
What did she actually do to the spell? Because there may now be an open Render connection.

It did work.

And it made him very nervous.

He opened his mouth to ask Tam if she knew what was happening, but he closed it again. She had enough worrying about herself and Cricket anyway. He busied himself re-organizing his bag.

Rebus’s teleportation beacon should still be there, I think. It’s too bad for Rebus that Bat forgot about it.

She stared at him blankly at him for a moment, then gasped.

"Oh! Oh, yes, I did, I'm so sorry! I forgot I did that!" She promptly restored the connection.

"There- it's back now. Sorry!" she said again. "Sorry . . ."

The Scribe appeared. “Hey! What’s going on!”

He dropped a blade between the two. Then disappeared.

@Dragonheir

Far away, in a broken land, a king looked over a broken people. A broken people… each a part of him. Or they were. Losing them had felt like dying over and over again.

He looked down to the body closest him. She was the first. The one he unwittingly created. And the only one  willing to take the next step.

She was dead, now. Despite all his power. He should never have let her convince him to come out of hiding. He closed his eyes, but, like always, it did nothing to impede his sight.

Standing up, he stumbled away near-drunkenly. He fought to forget the fields of death as he found his way to his rooms.

He collapsed onto the ground, then. And he almost didn’t notice when the figure walked in front of him. The Devourer.

”I am sorry, my liege. But it had to be done. I… I am sorry.”

The king squeezed his eyes shut yet again as tears found their way from them. “Go away. Just… go.”

The Devourer instantly complied. As he had always.

After some time, the king uncurled from the fetal position he had taken. He stood, and, as he had so many times so many years ago, walked away.

Omal the Eternal King was king no more.

"What is it?"

"I... just don't understand what's happening to my tattoos, is all."

He set aside a bottle of ink and a portable tattoo needle.

It terrified him to think that if she wanted to she could---

Stop that. Don't think about that.

Then she took a sip of the hot chocolate, which was  good.

Yum.

And what happened with that knife --- what did I do with that knife? And why didn't I die in that blast??

I will most definitely do no such thing! I must learn from a variety of evil masters in order to attain true evilness.

The pole is stopped by the wall, but there is no effect beyond that. Just before Rebus floats back into the universe, he hears a noise.
