Luna was mildly perturbed so she ate a handful of relish (because confusion).

Thousands of years ago, the luxsprites ruled.

It was a time of light and of happiness. Across the threads and throughout the universes, there was peace. Creatures of darkness and shadow dwelt only within the Void, where no light shone and they could do no harm.
And it was all thanks to the luxsprites. From their dwelling place in Mount Illumina, beams of radiance were crafted that wove through every subverse and node. The Factory of Light, as it was called, served as a beacon of hope and peace for all for thousands upon thousands of years.
Until, one day, it all fell apart.

The luxsprite stood at the summit, totally and utterly stunned. Down below, sinister spirits of darkness crawled up through the mountain. His home.
"Awed?" called a voice softly from behind him. The sprite jumped and spun around, eyes wide open and quivering, terror evident on his young face. He stared up at the newcomer, unable to speak.
The newcomer, a creature of shadows in the guise of a man, knelt to look the youngling in the eye. "Like monsters out of legend, aren't they?" he whispered in the same quiet, scratchy voice. "Just waiting for a hero to come and defeat them..."
He turned his eyes away and downwards, towards the carnage below. He smiled.
"But no hero is coming," he said. "And so the shadows will reign."
The young sprite cowered further as the monster's gaze turned back, the horrible smile still etched across his face.
"It's funny," he said. "Just when you think you have it all... you lose it."

BOB, meanwhile, languished in the belly of the whale and a chorus of vegetables serenaded him.

He was accompanied by a small, Indian caterpillar.

Sophie squealed with excitement, enthralled. "OhmyAuthorohmyAuthorohmyAuthor this is AMAAAAZING!!!!" She giggled, hair fluttering around her head as she watched from the safety of her forcefield. This was what it was to be a hero. And it was incredible. The plot was incredible. Her breath caught in her throat and time seemed to slow around her.

It was hard for her to explain what she was feeling. Later, after she had more time to think, she would realize that this was the moment she accepted that she wanted to be a hero. Just like her sisters. She had a legacy to follow and was desperate to do so. It was why she existed. To be in a story. To destroy darkness and bring out the light. She felt herself smile. Maybe she was scared, but bravery didn't mean the absence of fear. It meant doing things despite your fear. And that meant that she had hoards of it within her. Waiting to be used...

Sophie looked down at herself and gasped. Her outfit had changed. She still wore a loose blue dress, but this one was slightly different. It was a darker shade of blue with light blue trim and a slit down the side and it only went just past her knee at its lowest. There was a belt of white stars around her waist with a sheathed dagger at her side. And, in addition, she had silver - yes, silver, not blue - bracers around her lower legs and wrists. Her face lit up. "Wow!" she cried softly, grinning at the beautiful gift.
