"I guess? A little?"

“Haha lets go” they pumped their fist.

Sometime, somewhere, in some sort of cafe, a soul was waiting. For what? you may ask. If you were to ask them, they would ask you the same question as well.

Viridis walked into the café and sat down, pulling his dark green cloak close. His face was hidden by the cowl. No one in the crowd noticed him at first.

Ah. the soul, more commonly called ‘105’, thought to themself. This person… might be who I was waiting for. They stood up from their seat and walked over to Viridis.

Viridis pretended not to notice 105's approach. He motioned for a waiter to come over.

"A sealed bag of hydrogen peroxide, please," Viridis asked. His voice was rather deep. The waiter looked puzzled, but eventually that expression disappeared from his face and he nodded.

The waiter turned to 105.

“Just the usual, please.” 105 said, in their usual neutral tone, sitting down at Viridis’s table. How long had it been since they had arrived, they didn’t know. But another chance encounter was at foot, so they had to focus. This might be the time.

”So,” 105 said, looking at  Viridis “Who are you?”

“Interesting…” 105 mused, ignoring his vagueness. “And where are you from?”

"Outside." His voice was a complete monotone.

He leaned back in his chair. Someone observant would've caught the brief hint of green-tinted skin.

“I believe most of us are.” 105 said, noting his appearance as the waiter came back with their orders. They placed down the bag of hydrogen peroxide in front of Viridis, and a tall glass of transparent liquid in front of 105. “And your purpose for coming here?”

Viridis reached out a faintly-green hand and pocketed the hydrogen peroxide.

"It's cold outside and I need some H2O2."

“And now you’re leaving, since you’ve achieved at least one of your goals?” 105 asked, as they produced a small inky black vial from their cloak.

"I might stay for a bit. It is nice and warm here."

“Alright.” 105 said. Over the next few minutes, they observed Viridis, noting down his appearance and mannerisms. He doesn’t look like someone from here.
“Do you know, of something called the ‘Chrono Commission’?” 105 asked, breaking the silence.

"No," Viridis said. There was a hint of intrigue in his voice. He leaned forward. "What is it?"

“I’m not really sure myself.” 105 popped the cork of the vial, and let the black liquid enter the transparent one. “My memory is a bit bad after I woke up. How long was it ago?” 105 paused to think for a moment, then said, “Around a year ago. So I tried asking people about it. No luck so far.” The black liquid swirled around the glass, forming complex shapes and patterns. “Apparently, they have to do with my creation.”

Viridis appeared to be watching the liquid - though with his eyes concealed, one couldn't be sure.

"Have you been sitting hear for a year?" he asked, a hint of surprise in his voice.

“Have I been here for one rotation around the star this planet orbits? Well, yes, thought it didn’t feel like a long time to me. I don’t know how long I have existed or how long I have left. Every day, I observe the people who come here. Locals, merchants, and travellers such as yourself. None of them know of the so called ‘Chrono Commission’ that I speak of, so I just keep waiting until someone who does shows up.”

105 took a small sip of their drink, causing the black liquid to re-assemble itself into another pattern.

Viridis gave a slight nod.

"What's in the drink?" he asked.

“H₂O. I believed people on this planet call it ‘water’. And some Pure-Blood Ink.” 105 took another, longer sip of the drink. “This body of mine only needs this much to get by, another mystery yet to be solved.”

105 finished their drink, then stood up. “You are not the one.” they said. “Apologies for wasting your time.”

Viridis nodded, then pulled out the hydrogen peroxide bag, inspecting it.

105 walked away, to the door of the café. Another failed encounter… 105 thought to themself. They didn’t know where they were going, they just knew they needed to leave. Now. Something bad had happened to everyone they had asked about the Chrono Comission, so they had to find them this time, before they could cause more chaos in this peaceful world.
