Cep nodded. "Very well. I shall help you." He paused, then said, much quieter, "...I'm sorry."

...damn

I really need to do a better job of keeping track of events in here

Ameobus had left a trail of broken machinery and shattered reality in his wake, either trying to slow pursuit or replenish the Mordite he’d lost.

"I would but im kinda bound to this place." He grumbled rolling his eyes.

"Thars good cause we need alot of help." she said hearing the screetches from below.

The Witherlord remained in the vault, a hole forming in the wall as he passed through into it.

”I know what I need to know.” He said simply, stepping over to the shelves laden with Prismite. “For example, I know that you cannot stop me from corrupting your entire stock of Prismite, leaving you once again useless and ignored by all the Thread.”

He picked a container up off the shelf, corrupting the Prismite into Mordite with a slight exertion of his will.

”As for being the last living being, I look forward to the day when all life has been ended. When the Void is all that is, and withergeists can finally rest.” He chuckled. “I would be curious to know what force will be destroying my armies and stripping me of my power. Perhaps it is these flaws who sent you and Sanguine here?”

Unintelligible considered how best to get into space. Perhaps if he jumped as high as he could…

9/10 laughed. Something came back to him in that moment. Never again would he possess that much prismite. He still hadn’t accumulated enough plot armor, and couldn’t think of a good way to break through that barrier. The prismite vault immediately collapsed on itself, trace energies from the four substances used there causing a massive explosion somewhere at the edge of space- not that it would do much more that annoy the Witherlord, but it was a fitting end to that experiment. He noted something down, observing that the antagonist’s presence had left this location to visit his vault. It seemed the Witherlord was in fact exceedingly dangerous in terms of combat and terror, but slightly less omniscient and omnipresent than your average Narrator- attributes he could use to his advantage.

Ameobus had left a trail of broken machinery and shattered reality in his wake, either trying to slow pursuit or replenish the Mordite he’d lost.

Rebus suddenly grinned. Exposition. That was Bacon’s Plotblade, though I don’t think he ever used it.

“Callbacks that are useful to me,” Rebus clarified. “I’ve approached a number of Narrators in parallel; I would need six for this to work as I intend.”

“Well, my weapon would made out of modified Narrator cores.” Rebus shrugged. “There’s not many other options, though.”

“Allies… Yes.” Rebus nodded slowly. “We can be allies. I don’t think our ultimate goals align, but for the time being I will assist you, and accept your help in return.”

“Indeed,” Rebus said. “I have a device that can enable this travel, but Lore may still be necessary; the fuel it’s supposed to use doesn’t seem to canonically exist here.”

“The alternate realities seem to be non-canon versions of this world, reminiscent of fan-fiction. I may be able to find, for instance, a man named Benevolence, who spared the life of a man he hated in order to bring the Luxsprites back.” Rebus smiled wryly. “I suspect you see the applications…”

Jack frowned. “You should have it; we were recording things in case you lost your memories.”

I’m not especially surprised. Perhaps, though, we’ll meet again.

Rebus made a choking sound as the Symbol died, barely even aware of the Witherlord’s gloating.

Kneeling in the darkness, Rebus felt only despair. Then a brief flash of pain, and then he felt nothing.
-

From across the Thread, Rebus watched helplessly. Symbol was dead, just like that. Grief crashed down on him even as the wave slammed into what had once been the truest version of him. He took a long, sobbing breath.

And then he stopped. The burn from Redemption surged along his arm, but he halted it with a glance. “I will remember.” He didn’t smile, but he was no longer crying. “I will remember this. And I will remember Nameless.”

He appeared first to an unnamed Enuller, handing him a paper bag with a note attached as a sign of goodwill and freeing up the rest of his authority, then immediately returned to Rebus. “Well, that went fairly well. I may not have won, per se, but I did outmaneuver our mutual enemy, slightly,” he said, exaggerating what was really a dumpster fire of a plan. He dug into a pocket, retrieving the only prismite core he had managed to snag from the vault before leaving, and handed it to the former antagonist with a nod. “It will be good to work with you,” he stated, before disappearing to deal with his growing sense of insufficiency.

Lyric rummaged through his bag and pulled the journal free. He opened it to the first page and began reading.

"I suppose I have met you." He said. "How odd."

The Witherlord noticed the merging of the essences just in time, grabbing one core before retreating into the Void.

He watched the explosion-which was much more than simply 'massive', and an idea came to him. He looked down at the Prismite core in his hand.

Perhaps it would be best to let Rebus's plan succeed. After all, it does open up certain new... possibilities.

Hmmm, i was under the impression that he could probably just tank a fundamental explosion

not that he is vulnerable to one, as this shows, but interesting

He probably could, but that's not the sort of thing he likes to take chances with.

A little ball appeared beside the Witherlord. Less a physical object, more a small fuzz in the air that didn't seem real.

It radiated a small impression: What is happening? I...can't remember what's happening? It seemed to suddenly turn its attention to the Witherlord. Oh! Hello! Who are you? Could I tag along? I don't really know where to go.

The Witherlord examined the fuzzy spot inscrutably. With a shrug he turned, moving deeper into the darkness of the Void between Worlds.

”I am going to see if Heaven’s Author is available, that I might wage war against it and destroy it. Follow if you wish, being close to me will doubtless make you easier to kill when that time comes.”

Night was becoming irritated. She sent envoys to people that should be helping right now, if they really cared. One of them, a raven, returned immediately, wounded by a mordite claw. The other, coincidentally a dove, did not return at all.
She swept out a hand, gathering the radiation in the area into spears of light, sending them at Charnyx with a flick of her wrist. “Your service to a being confines you,” she said. “Have you no ideals?”

"What need have I of an ideal other than power?"

A toothed maw burst into reality, gaping wide to swallow Night whole.

levi shrugged and threw a dagger at them.

She nodded. “Soooooo will you come? They really wanna talk to youuuu”

The knife stuck in one of the lizard-monkey's eyes. It hissed and lunged at Levi and Trevor.

"I can imagine almost anything," said Onyx. "I assume you have a specific alternate reality in mind? Attempting to use Lore without strict guidelines is... not advisable."

Night sent a starhawk to pull Unintelligible from the planet’s surface to the vacuum of space where they were fighting, then warped space herself to deftly dodge the eldritch maw. She appeared behind Charnyx and stabbed him in the back of the thigh with her spear, Luminescence, a focus of her essence and representation of her power as a Narrator. @NameIess @xinoehp512

It was not long before Aelinor spied a shifty-looking individual, wearing a cloak and moving covertly through the trees.

Aelinor’s steps were naturally quiet, but she didn’t have a mind to be stealthy until she spotted the figure. She immediately crouched down and stepped closer to the foliage on the edge of the path, watching the figure closely through the bushes. This was an unfamiliar world, but according to Unintelligible, it belonged to… an Author, with… good intentions… this time? Agh, she couldn’t remember. She decided to just watch the figure for a moment. No use getting into any fights she can’t win.

Hi my name is TagFish, I joined the shard kinda recently and haven’t been active at all for the past few months, but I’ve been wanting to join TLT for a while. I know a bit about it since my friend Sequence has told me stuff about her characters here, but I’m very lost with the current storyline besides “everybody’s tryna slime the witherlord rn” (I don’t even know what that means). I want to join with a new character, so could anyone please tell me what’s going on currently and how I could fit my character in with the story? I’d greatly appreciate it :)

(Sorry if this is the wrong place/way to ask, I don’t know much about this thread)

Hrm… basically the ultimate evil in TLT as far as I know is showing up and has started destroying things slowly, mainly acting through his allies at this point. Some people are trying to find ways to fight back, and others are trying just to survive.

There’s an invasion of Heaven about to happen, that might be a good place for your character to show up.
——

Eden had a plan. Premonition was a powerful weapon compared to most, but limited in combat applications. She needed to gather more Plotblades, become more powerful. She had learned that acquiring Premonition was lucky for her- her author had a habit of just handing things to his characters. But if she wanted more, she had two options- kill other Plotblade holders, or take on a quest. Maybe if she became powerful enough, she could free herself from her Author- after all, this one in particular had already had his some of his power stolen before. It could be done again. So she set out, politely asking her starhawk to take her to the nearest plot point. She appeared on the surface of the city planet Gates of Heaven, and waited for others to arrive.

A woman looked at the universe for the first time in a long time. She didn’t recognize much. She was an Author, she knew that. Maybe. The universe was different now. Perhaps an Author wasn’t what it once was. Perhaps it was something that once was made into something that now is, much like herself. A teenaged girl with hopes and dreams made into a woman who’d accomplished some and seen others slip through her fingers.

A warm feeling both soft and biting overwhelmed her, and she wondered if ghanderflaffles, Butt Venture, and Asneps still roamed free. Had they been forgotten? She hadn’t forgotten them, but hadn’t written of them for a long time. In realms of thought given life on digital paper, that was essentially the same thing. Maybe others had continued to write of them. Hopefully they had. Silly as they were, they’d brought a girl joy when joy was scarce. That was worth remembering.

She could see that some trouble with Heaven was afoot. This universe had surprisingly distinct cycles of humor and sincerity, and seemed to currently be in one of the latter. Butt Venture certainly wouldn’t have made it into Heaven. She was pretty sure Asneps was a menace too, but couldn’t quite recall. She was evil, wasn’t she? She was…

Oh. She didn’t remember.

That crack in her rose-tinted glasses left a jagged edge sharp enough to draw blood.

She decided to think of something simpler. Were pineapples still a common motif in this world? Those had been particularly funny. She wasn’t sure why, but she didn’t think anyone else had known why, either.

Pineapples, the woman thought to herself with a slight smile. For now, that was enough. Then she looked away.

Don’t mind me, just being nostalgic over here :P

I've been told to join TLT so here goes, I guess.

Ennalee decided to join the group.

She had been watching from the shadows for some time and decided that finally, she needed to join the fight against the Witherlord.

And also maybe stop the invasion of Heaven. She wasn't quite sure which side she wanted to take on that yet.

She was a Narrator, though she wasn't quite sure what that meant.

Did I sort of do that right? Yes? No? I'm not quite sure, so someone please correct me if not

So, technically, you yourself are the Author. Though there are Authorial Avatars which are basically near all powerful self inserts. You might be thinking of a Narrator?

9/10mmHB#2 sent a projection to Ennalee’s location. “Welcome,” he said, proffering a handshake. “Another watcher joins the fray? Good for you.”

He’s unique, half a lost species (luxsprite, being of ordered light), and half Flaw, a being that eats stories. Against the Witherlord, but long term is a villain

Posted

Ennalee accepted the proffered handshake, watching 9/10mmHB#2 carefully. She wasn't quite sure what to make of him, though he seemed trustworthy.

She knew from experience that looks weren't everything, however.

"You are against the Witherlord as well?" She inquired of the projection politely, examining his every move.

Uhhh I haven't decided what species to make Ennalee yet, but her personality seems very clear to me. (I've been trying to write stories about her lol but they haven't worked out, so I figured I'd insert her in here) She used to follow her heart but after being hurt by certain people, she now follows her head and likes to use logic to decide where to go next.

“Yeah, I don’t favor annihilation. Not sure why anyone supports him. But especially since he blew up all my prismite.” He shrugged. “What do you do?”

"Not much," Ennalee said vaguely, smiling faintly. "Where can I go to meet up with you in person, not just a projection?" she asked, pulling on a black cloak. "Nothing against you, I don't trust people I haven't met in person. Once we meet you can ask me more questions, should you wish to do so."

9/10 blinked. “It’s just luxite powers. I can appear in person, since my attention is less divided. Most Narrators have clones, Rebus in particular, or Avatars.” There was a flash of light, then… nothing had changed, except that 9/10mmHB#2’s body now gave off a slight glow like someone holding Stormlight, albeit with more of a golden hue.

Is Enna aware she’s in the Thread and can she see it, or is she totally in first person?

Ennalee blinked, pausing. Pulling out a small black notebook she began to scribble furiously. "My apologies," she said, continuing to write. "I have never encountered someone with your particular... abilities before. To be honest, I'm not quite sure how to use my own." Snapping the notebook shut, Ennalee gave 9/10 a smile, nodding to him respectfully. Something tugged at her mind faintly, but she shoved it aside, instead deciding to learn as much as she could to add to the resistance against the Witherlord.

She gets glimmers like these ideas that she's in the Thread, but tends to disregard them, instead trusting logic.
