 sársauki óreiðu grinned “im sure they wont live long enough to worry.” They held a hand out. “Fear not if anyone is watching, this isn’t an attack. No one will be hurt from this specific action.” A little mist flicked off of his hand and wiggled into erryins ear. “It only speaks facts.”

erryin froze and turned. Their eyes lacked any emotion. Their form flickered between normal and what seemed to be a younger version, longer hair and an all black outfit, still a crop top but the whole thing seemed eerie.

He’s doing this on purpose - he actually likes Erryin, but for a number of reasons is choosing to ignore that feeling: it’s villainous and may get people to fight him,            is useful to him, he wants to show he will betray and hurt pretty much anyone (in part because diacritics-are-hard called him sentimental), and he thinks that in some ways Erryin will benefit from having a plotline. 

Rebus was intrigued by this development - perhaps the mist would work on him, or someone he wanted manipulated. “You have a name now; have you noticed that?” 
Erryin turned to Rebus, and he smiled back at them. “It hurts, doesn’t it? I can fix that, you know…”

Meanwhile, the vault was being attacked from yet another angle. Rebus had somehow gotten malevolent nanomachines through the party’s oath - they’d been brought there by someone else, who’d forgotten about them. Perhaps the knife was right, however - for this was certainly a loophole, and would likely soon be accounted for. Of course, the nanomachines hadn’t really done anything besides eat one rock on the planet’s surface, so maybe everything was fine.

I think I understated. There are only five ways I can think of that can break SIM. 

1) Throw it into a black hole

2) Sabotage the inner machinery from higher dimensions, though this can be shielded against.

3) Pit it against its naturally occurring form, neutron star core.

4) When it's travelling close to lightspeed and enters a region where the speed of light is slower, the SIM gets flattened, breaking its machinery.

5) Use more SIM

“These are machines, but I could molecularly assemble or magically conjure an arbitrary life form if I wished.” The nanomachines crept towards the third general - for it seemed Elan had left the Shard for good (with a quite poignant farewell post). 
6. NameIess’s antimatter trick (which is easier than you’d think, given how much antimatter Rebus uses regularly) 

7. Warp space enough that there’s a disconnect between the pieces? 

8. Hit it really hard and let the momentum transfer to whatever it’s protecting? 
9. Teleport something inside it and see what happens (or just go past it, or destroy the insides)? 
10. Delete it from existence with magic, overload it with magic, turn it into a flock of birds with magic, etcetera…  

Bonus eleventh idea: speed up time really really really fast and hope proton decay is real

"I've always had a name. I choose not to say it. If it was typed it was likely because of event currently happening in development. sársauki óreiðu, I believe means the pain of chaos, though its a title and not a name, And this occurred because my Author sensed an oncoming and important pain."

erryin flickered snd in about 0.2 second did the following actions. Appeared next to Rebus, teleported him somewhere other then Sequence world, and had a glowing katana against his neck. "Move and I slit your throat." Their voice echoed. To prove this weapon was (at least i think) dangerous they press it against his throat. If it could hurt authors avatars then...

Named nodded slowly, drafting a touch of yellow. Abruptly, he looked startled.

A door materialised in the air and Sandy walked through, holding a piece of nicrosil. His being occasionally flickered in and out of Named's thin slice of 10D reality. Sandy tossed the unkeyed nicrosilmind to Named.

"Chi, paryl, and Lightsplitting," Sandy said. He walked back out of the door, which vanished as soon as he left.

Named tapped the chromaturgy in the metalmind and stored it in the nicrosilminds on his ribs to compound later.

Named grinned.

Hitting really hard would probably break whatever you're hitting it with long before the SIM, even near lightspeed.

Erdikan watched this all occur with increasing concern. Upon Erryin and Rebus's disappearance, he instinctively grabbed           by the wrist, eyes flashing. "What did you do?"
