And as the floor was remaining flat and not dimpling, that meant that the area at the base of the wall would also appear to stretch. Conversely, if he were to move his eyes away from the floor, the area above it would compress. So perhaps if he made the wall stretch enough, something would happen? With nothing else to do, Taeidin slowly lowered himself to the floor, watching the wall and the room in general to see if anything changed whilst he was doing this.

Spoiler Once upon a time, there was a tree. Yes, just a tree. She was a very pretty pine tree, and she sat alone atop a hill in a vast forest. She was rather lonely, looking down on all the other trees clustered together from atop her hill. Every winter, she would ask the falling snow to send her somebody, anybody, just so she could have a friend. She waited many years, watching the seasons change and the plants grow. Until finally, one day after the last frost of the winter was gone and the sun was shining bright, the tree heard somebody. A lone knight with a sword at his hip, dressed in brilliant steel armor. The tree was so excited! Finally! A friend! The knight sat down with his back against the tree’s trunk, looking out over the forest from atop the hill. The tree just watched him. She couldn’t talk to him, of course, but she was happy to have company. Somebody who could share the view with her. As they sat together, enjoying the view, the knight began to sing. He sang a soft, beautiful song in words that the tree could not understand. She didn’t understand, but she loved it. Much too soon, the knight got up, and walked away down the hill. The tree longed to call out to him, to ask him his name, ask him to stay. But of course, she couldn’t. So she just watched him go with a feeling of emptiness. As the sun reached its peak the next day, the tree was delighted to see the knight come back up the hill, and sit down beneath her branches once more. And once more, he sang his lovely song, and they shared the view together. The knight came back the next day too, and the next, and the next. Every day, for only a few minutes at a time, the knight would come, sit upon the hill with his back to the tree’s trunk, and sing. The tree began to ask the rays of sun, and the wind, and the rain, and anything else she could think of, to turn her into a human. She wanted nothing more than to speak to the knight… Deep down, she didn’t believe that her wishes would be granted, but still she wished every day, and every day the knight came and sang his song, which only strengthened her longing. One day early in the morning, the sun first starting to peek through the mountains, after it had set and risen countless times since the knight had first came, the tree found that she felt. She felt grass. She felt warmth, and air, and sensation. She looked around. She could move. She looked out at her branches and found arms. She looked down at her trunk and found legs. She was no longer a tree. She was a human! ‘A princess…’ She thought to herself. She breathed air into her lungs, crisp and cool, and felt herself smile. She looked up at the sky, seeing everything in a whole new light. She looked around at her small hill, and found it seeming much larger before, and her surroundings much more ground. She laughed, and her laughter rang throughout the valley and bounced between the trees underneath the morning sun. So, she sat down in the soft grass and waited. When midday arrived, the knight was nowhere to be seen. ‘No worries!’ Thought the princess. ‘He’ll be here tomorrow…’ So she waited. The next day, he still hadn’t arrived. The princess began to grow worried. She let two more days pass, with no sign of the knight, before she decided to go find him. So, off she went. She journeyed through the forest, seeing beneath the other trees for the first time. She saw smaller plants, and grass, and even animals too! It was beautiful, but it was not her journey. So, on she went, off in the direction of where the knight had come from. It took the princess another whole day, but eventually, she found herself beyond the forest. The trees thinned out and gave way to a large field of tall, yellow grass. It expanded as far as the eye can see, with the beautiful blue sky stretching above. The pure blue was only broken by a single column of smoke, drifting lazily into the air in the distance. So that’s where the princess went. She walked through the field, admiring the plants and sky, before eventually coming across a small cottage in a clearing amongst the field. Outside the cottage, there was a campfire. There was also a suit of armor strung up on the wall of the cottage, and a sword beside it. The princess recognized them. She was sure they belonged to her knight! Around the campfire on a small log sat a man. He was young and beautiful, and he had a bandage wrapped around his body. The princess’s breath caught in her throat as she stepped into the clearing, her eyes coming to rest on the man. He looked up. The princess had never seen her knight without his armor, but as his eyes met hers, she knew that this was him. “Hello.” The knight said. “You seem awfully familiar.” The princess smiled. “You do as well.” She said The knight waved her over to sit across the fire from him, and so she did. And the two spoke. The princess did not know whether the knight knew who she was, and she did not care, for she had finally found somebody to speak to, and share her company with. The end.

"I have a task for you." "So you're not looking for the legendary fountain of youth?" Lyric said in surprise. "Odd. Most adventurers I see around here are very interested in that fountain." He narrowed his eyes. "Come to think of it, a robot wouldn't have much use for a fountain of youth anyways." The portal was genuine, of course. And considering Kion was at least on the right planet, surely he could find his way to the party before his Render caught up to him. This was all very interesting and somewhat ominous, but Pilot was unable to witness it. Rebus did, but he had nothing to say or do beside watch and wait. Pilot, taking a new false face from its bag and putting it on, strode out of the alleyway. “The fountain of youth?” Jack asked, sounding just as surprised as Lyric. “What would one do with all that time?” Kion was, Heir had decided, already at the party. The promise of nonviolence from the 3000 page party could remain in effect, clearing up any problems. Meanwhile, the Render was nowhere to be found. Let me try again - in the endless plain, the Render was not seen or found. On 10/15/2025 at 1:38 AM, KaladinsSenseOfHumorSpren said: Antiseptic and insecticide? By human, do you mean us? Named grinned. "I don't know why I'm here in the first place," he said. "But you want an allegiance? With me?" He chuckled. "What would you gain from that?" Banes for the disease and bug Horrors (whose names I forgot) - if Named had been originally killed by one of those two, he’d be turned back into a human upon contact with it. The humans I’m referring to were the minion skeletons who were killed by Shadow - light (the respective Bane) turned them back into very confused ordinary people. “You were killed by a Horror - a creature representing something specific and generally considered bad. Darkness, disease, sorrow… The Horrors serve a being or beings generally recognized as an evil deity - who can, regardless of their actual nature, be found beyond that door. You’ve been brought back to life as a skeleton to guard it, but by invoking the weakness of whichever Horror killed you, you can be returned to your original state.” Rebus gestured at the humans scattered around the room, most of whom seemed very confused. “Those people were skeletons killed by Shadow, the Horror of Darkness. Its weakness, perhaps predictably, is bright light - you may have seen me shine enough light on them to turn them back.” “As for you,” Rebus said, expending a little more Narration from the budget he’d allotted himself. Time seemed to lurch, Rebus’s fairly lengthy explanation somehow fitting in the moment before Named could act. “-I want your allegiance for a number of reasons. The first is your capabilities - you have a number of interesting abilities, including one from a universe outside the ones this world typically draws from. The second is your role - you’re important, special in a way you may someday comprehend. The third is that I like you - your meticulous examination of my capabilities was somewhat endearing and many other things about you remind me of myself.” On 10/15/2025 at 10:30 AM, Sequence said: Rebus found himself transported to the party cabin on Sequence's world! It was a larger, more open cabin with a massive deck, something of a boardwalk almost that extended out onto the crystal blue lake a bit. Sequence appeared, looking Rebus up and down and smiling. "Rebus." She said with a slight nod. "Have you been well?" Rebus was wearing his armor, though it seemed more elaborate than normal. The plates were black, white, and grey, as usual, but they fit together in futuristic patterns that drew the eye upwards, towards the dark crown Antagonist. The purple glow between the armor’s seams varied in shade, and the cape was longer and had edges embroidered with hexagons. Rebus was smiling broadly, a mixture between excitement and arrogance that may have itself been carefully calculated. “I myself have - I am extant, which is excellent. This party is more of a boon than I had expected. But I have noticed what you did - crucial Authors became absent at crucial moments, and activity had stagnated.” Edited October 18, 2025 by Dragonheir Pluralized Author

I didn’t expect you to immediately teleport there, and this did serve a function to demonstrate the actual issues a retrieval attempt might face.” Rebus, careful to observe through his Author’s mind rather than with Narration, watched Erryin end up within another reality. “Once again, immediately teleporting somewhere without any research can cause problems. That’s where Lezterp would take Symbol and I, actually.” This was all very interesting and somewhat ominous, but Pilot was unable to witness it. Banes for the disease and bug Horrors (whose names I forgot) - if Named had been originally killed by one of those two, he’d be turned back into a human upon contact with it. The third is that I like you - your meticulous examination of my capabilities was somewhat endearing and many other things about you remind me of myself.” Rebus was wearing his armor, though it seemed more elaborate than normal. But I have noticed what you did - crucial Author became absent at crucial moments, and activity had stagnated.” erryin sighs. "Yeah, so i figured. Now. Let's fill me in on anything else needed to help you. Ok? Ok." -- Asher was fascinated by the new persons armor. and went to approach them but where promptly stopped by both a demon and an angel pulling them back at the same time and into a corner.

They have a teleporter with them - Keys is her name - and could leave at any time. My Author seems to be meddling with the timing - I suspect he’s waiting for someone.” Rebus chuckled, watching this play out. Asher would speak to him in time, he suspected - especially since, as far as he knew, Cade still worked for him.
NameIess Posted October 18, 2025 Posted October 18, 2025 20 hours ago, Sequence said: Sequence couldn’t help but smile, more and more noticeably, so she covered her mouth with one hand and leaned on it in an attempt to appear thoughtful. “… Well you’re awfully perceptive.” She tilted her head slightly. “… Perhaps more so than I.” Sequence sighed, and stood up, brushing off her dress. “Well, my invitations have eyes of course, and it seems he’s in trouble. I ought to go help him out, right?” Sequence still couldn’t manage to wipe the smile off her face, and her cheeks were faintly pink. Moni stood quickly, setting her tea down. "Yes, you probably should. What kind of trouble is he in n- Unintelligible chose this moment to appear at the party. He was covered in scratches, including one long gash just under his right eye that appeared to be leaking black smoke, and held a small metal cage under one arm. "Sequence!" He exclaimed, face brightening. "Sorry I'm late. I think I might have a way to help heal you!" He paused. "If you need it, at least. Your letter said you didn't?" 40 minutes ago, Dragonheir said: “The fountain of youth?” Jack asked, sounding just as surprised as Lyric. “What would one do with all that time?” Lyric nodded. "Exactly. Besides, I don't think the fountain even exists. I've been guarding these forests for a while now, and I've never found it!" 44 minutes ago, Dragonheir said: Rebus was wearing his armor, though it seemed more elaborate than normal. Before she could do anything else, however, a pillar of smoke burst from the ground before Rebus. A wavering, whispery voice spoke from the smoke. "Rebus. You are in possession of an object of great power. Too great."
