"Plot lines... authors... oh could anyone just be NORMAL around here? Whatever!" She walked off behind another tree, glancing to make sure the cat wasn't looking before doing something that involved green sparkles and light again.

Taeidin nodded.

There is created a duplicate of Bacon, which includes memories of the papers you are searching for, although it is not here any longer. If we could find him, it would presumably work for your purposes.

@Kansas Stormcursed @Hawks Cep and a clone of Erryin are still at the spot where we originally confronted Bacon right? Is anyone else still there?

Storms, I've missed a lot.

I honestly forgot where we were. I think Cep may be the last one just standing around, but what you may find interesting is that Cep has now two personalities, one of which is both a Narrator and holds some of his memories, though the others are locked away in his head and he can't even access them.

It's kind of his thing. He could do it.

"Excellent." A small box appeared next to Cricket. "There you go."

“Probably,” said the man who looked like Rebus. “For instance, the last thirty seconds or so of my memory are blank.  But if you’ll give me a chance to atone, I’d accept.”

"Truly?" The Priest took a moment to compose himself. "Very well. To start with, you should do your best to undo all the evil plots you've been... plotting."

"There are cracks in the Wall that let in its servants, and someone else - with no intention of killing the Witherlord, as far as I know - is also seeking out the paper to summon it."

Editor Nameless appeared next to Rebus. "Excuse me, sir Rebus. I believe you are operating under a slight misconception about the Witherlord's imprisonment and the void between worlds."

Sequence blinked at him a few times, processing his somewhat alarming words. She decided it was okay for the moment, and clasped her hands together with a smile.

”Splendid! I could certainly do so, if you tell me a bit about the metal. I am a Narrator after all! I Narrate things… I like to think I’m rather good at it.”

”The surveillance network is… Perhaps a tad unnecessary, as I know about everything that goes on in this world at all times, but one can never be too careful I suppose.”

"Very well." A piece of paper bearing the specifications for the metal alloy appeared in Sequence's hands. "A mile-wide band in all directions around the vault should do."

Nothing for you to worry about. Here, take a magic axe!

A magic axe appeared in front of Susie.

"Agh!" The light in front of her faded fast. "Can you get out of my head? Wyverns are cool and all, but you're just annoying! Did you not realize I already have an axe?" Susie got out her polished axe and waved it around.

Erryin grabbed Bacon's arm and pulled him to a far table. "Ok please explain whats going on? Why do you seem so... bewildered??? Whats wrong? Your genuinely scaring me."

A man in the corner wearing an elaborate hat began to play a stringed instrument. Haunting music filled the room.

"This place," said Bacon. "should not exist. It was destroyed a very, very long time ago. Now, it is just a memory."

He pulled out a mug and took a sip, face pensive. "But whatever it is you did... it brought that memory to life."

6 hours ago, Dragonheir said:

"That's a worthy aim - if you want some more lore, you could make a character who can serve as a window into my empire."

"I do, Bacon." Rebus grinned. "Almost everything works for me, if I take advantage of it the right way."

"Your weapon is a piece of a corpse of a god, and even ordinary Chaotic Darkness can be formed into Mordite, a magical metal that can kill anything if it strikes true. Imagine what could be done with fragments of the Witherlord Mantle."

"It will never work, you know," said Bacon. "Deals with Fate never do."

The music grew louder.

The player approached their table. He held the instrument, but despite the haunting melody, one could not see his fingers move.

He stopped at Bacon and Erryins table. His hair and eyes were black, and his clothes - other than his hat - were simple and formal. But despite all that, his face was unmistakable.

"Tell me," said Bacon's clone, "would you like to hear a story?"

"What!" exclaimed the other-Bacon, leaning back on a stool that hadn't been there a moment ago. "Surely you don't mean to turn down a story, freely offered? Why, that would be terribly impolite!"

He smiled. His teeth were pearly white.

"Of course your story is welcome here," said Bacon, expression reserved. "Please forgive my companion's... hesitance."

"Well!" said the other-Bacon. "I suppose I can't fault them for that! The Dark Forest is a dangerous place, after all... one where only the wary survive, and even then not always. It is old, you know. Older than you, older than this inn, older than this kingdom. Even these mountains were not, when the Dark Forest first was.

But our story does not start there. It does not start with this kingdom, a sanctuary from the darkness paid for in blood. No, our story starts with a girl.

Her name was Selene."

"Yeah, no. My axe is cooler anyways." She jumped up and swung her axe in a great arc, causing a great wave of pink violent energy to cut through several trees before fading away. Several trees lay horizontally on the forest ground and Susie grinned.

"Excellent!" Sequence felt a sudden gust of cool air as fans kicked on. "Construction is preceding on schedule." Malevolence noted as lights turned on to reveal dozens of robots busily assembling a massive metallic structure in the center of the cavern. "The vault itself will be covered in my most advanced technology, shielded as best I can make it, guarded by my most powerful drones. Worst case scenario, I'll have devices in play to destroy the paper. That will move it elsewhere and hopefully give us time to reclaim it."

"That was pathetic." Muttered the axe. Then in a louder voice that dripped with condescension. "Very good. I see you don't need me at all. Well, it was pleasant meeting such a powerful young hero, but I'm sure you have important places to be."
