She gasped.

"YES! YES, OKAY!"

It's . . . fine. Shouldn't have had that in the first place, though.

Ummm I imagine them as facing each other

"In the hands of most people, soda is perfectly innocent."

Rebus is standing behind Beosta, then.

Beosta grinned and went to get another one.

The grin was unsettling, but Symbol didn't mind. It wasn't for her.
"Thank you for coming," she said with a little smile. "I was just about to drink this vial that will probably take my Thread awareness and maybe Narration and then go from there..."

There were still more, though Rebus was about to stop the refilling.

"I'm glad I'm here." Rebus's grin became happy rather than viscous. "Narration is definitely going to be taken away, but I still have my Thread Awareness."

Beosta finished her soda and plopped back into her seat.

She smiled and stepped closer. She pulled out a tiny vial.
“Rebus, I… I’m… please don’t think less of me. I don’t know what I’m going to be like— just…”

Rebus was standing behind her, and still talking to Shoe. How drunk is she at this point?

Rebus looked into her eyes. "I understand, and I will understand."

Pretty decently drunk.

“Thank you,” she whispered, thej uncapped the vial and swallowed the contents.

For sake of clarity, Lady Bug said to him, I’ll explain what’s happened to her. She will remember, vaguely, the things she’s done and the things that have happened to her. She will remember Narration, and that she has it. Her Narration will be dulled, of course. But I’ll leave most of it with her. She will not remember any interactions with me besides the day she was born, and she will not pay attention to my name. The jumbled past I’ve assembled for her takes place before her birth, obviously.

Symbol’s eyes slid out of focus and she collapsed to the ground.

She has a key in her hand. Use it to take her through one of those doors, and I’ll revive her. She sounded incredibly smug. After that, just try to escape. Simple.

The room was a little swirly. Probably just the soda. (To clarify, it is - Shoe does not see this)

Something of your nature takes pleasure in hurting others, does it not? Rebus thought. I had wondered how you managed to fall behind even a metafictional solipsist in terms of ethics. Rebus, having expected something of the sort, mostly caught Symbol before she hit the ground - though used to enhanced reflexes, he did not so much catch her as ensure her fall did not result in a concussion. Still, though, he took the key and the vial, and poked a teleporting door with a torch.

Taeidin follows him.

Cep walks up to the first little house on the square. "Here goes." He knocks, and a short, dark-haired guy opens the door. "Hi!" Cep says.

"Do I know you?" The man replies.

"Guess not. Don't suppose yeh know anythin' 'bout any orbs?"

"No..." The man looks confused.

"Well, thanks for yer time." Cep waves and continues on to the next house.

Beosta giggled. That was funny.

Hmph. Not my nature, she sniffed. Merely a trait I adopted along the way, exclusive to a very few people.
The door gained a strangely solid quality when Rebus interacted with it. This particular door was made of black steel set with small blue stones along the edges.

Also I did another couple sketches

ignore the thing that looks like a trash can; I’m working on a better design

but basically for his pose I think I like the lean, maybe paired with a smirk? I can try and do one with his arms out, but I feel like the lean is more fun.

And then also, I realize I forgot to ask about the coat. Is the coat okay? What colors do you think if so? I was imagining a dark ish brown, but I could do a gray-black. As for design, I like the design on the right better, personally, but I could make the complicated one work.

I swear I’ll stop asking questions soon 😅

The room was tilting a bit, too.

Is that not every trait ones such as us possess? I have been very careful not to change what I want. Rebus solidified another door, then opened the first.

Wow. For the probably-teleporter, maybe switching the line priorities can help? One line longways with shorter lines coming off of it (also quite convenient for holding on to).

Yeah, lean and smirk are good. He's got like six different smiles :D

He'd go with striking greyscale unless he was trying to blend in. Actually, do you think white would work? Blank and grey accents, at the edges and maybe the seam lines. As for design, I agree that the one on the left is really complicated - maybe it'd work for the party, but not for everyday use.

@Through The Living Glass

That sentence hardly makes sense, she scoffed.

The first door opened to a small pavilion constructed with blue stone. It was raining heavily. Small globes of light were set into the pillars, and still archways both led potential travelers and covered their heads from the rain. The ground was nowhere in sight, but the railings made everything safe. It could have been nighttime, but it could have been midday with heavy cloud cover.

True Narrators - those who fully accept their powers - are masters of their personality. To take pleasure from harming others is detrimental to achieving your goals. Rebus helped Symbol through the door, though he was careful to ensure it did not shut behind them.

Not in this case. Oh, and she won't wake up until you close the door, she informed him. You have to be trapped in order to escape!

The ground underfoot was dry, but only because the floor under the pavilion was raised slightly above the outer edges, where water pooled and fell into depths beneath.

Rather than having the long-ways lines stop at the short-ways line, the short-ways lines can stop at the long-ways line.
