Folen smiled, "Perhaps it's you then, if you're so sure."

He glanced around the courtyard. "There are a lot more people here than I realized."

"None of the right ones."

14 minutes ago, Hawks said:

Asher nods "ah the worlds hardest question" she says amused.

-

"Have any caprisun?"

"Exactly," Gail sighed. "I'm leaning towards the potatoes with cheese and bacon."

-

"Right over there."

"How coincidental!" exclaimed Bacon. "So did I!" He pumped Asher's hand vigorously. "I am Bacon the Bard, Narrator Extraordinaire!"

"Lady Bug!" exclaimed Bacon. "Glad to see you are still alive and haven't been eaten by withergeists! Er, you weren't eaten by withergeists, were you?"

Bacon scratched his ear, feeling vaguely discomfited. It felt almost as if someone was speaking blatant untruths somewhere...

Lady Bug smiled. "No, I wasn't. Would you care to dance? For old time's sake?"

-

🤣

He smiled.

Uh . . . sure. For me. You can have the alcohol this time.

-

She did indeed.

-

She smiled and nodded. I do.

-

"I'm sure more are coming."

Two more unspecified people showed up.

"No, aw, come on," she whined.

-

Bat nodded. "So, uh... could you teach me?"

-

"Ah, but they're not the right ones."

He smiled. Nah.

-

She laughed and led him over to the dance floor.

You've really never danced before? Not judging or anything, she said with a smile.

-

"Who are you looking for specifically?"

No... not really. He blushed.

She shrugged casually. "I don't know. Someone interesting, I suppose."

Platypus was not at the party. This should be considered a good thing. Neither was Hacob, oddly enough. He'd usually come to things like that, if just to annoy people. Quite strange.

- About 150 pages ago -

Platypus walked around, taking a break outside. His idea for the emulsifier seemed to work, but it wasn't quite right. He had managed to combine a few, but they weren't stable. They'd quickly broken apart. Still, it was progress. Perhaps... perhaps he simply needed to be like the material. He could change. He didn't have enough pure Luxite to make Light, so it was time for Dark experiments. First, he would need to leave behind something in case it went wrong. He didn't like being an Ennuller, and he'd never tried being a Withergeist, so if something was wrong... that'd be bad. Eof... yes, Eof would work. He would drop it off with Eof.

"That's a good reason. Why aren't you plotting?"

"Not smart enough," Folen replied as he cut himself a slice of cake. "Plus I know it would probably fail."

Give me your hands.

"I suppose I don't cut it, do I?"

He took a sip of the pineapple juice.

"Mm. This is good."

Taeidin scrunches his face up, trying to understand.

The cake became red velvet.

"Red velvet is just red chocolate, is it not?"

Taeidin turns to them.

"It also has vinegar and buttermilk added to give it a unique flavor."

"Thanks," Gail said. She moved over to an armchair and sat down in it. Qodi hopped off to who knew where.

"Friends," she scoffed. "I don't need friends. I have plenty of aquaintences."

She put one of his hands on her waist, then put one of hers on his shoulder.

There.

He shrugged.

"I guess not."
