He turned slowly, unsure what had happened. He pulled his hat off, looking her up and down. That was the statue, was it not? “H-Hi. Where did you- never mind. What’s your name?”

"I'm--"

"Nobody," the man growled, stepping in front of his daughter. "Who are you?"

He steeped back, pressing against the cold stone wall. “I’m-“ he hesitated. “I’m an explorer. I look into ancient buildings and crypts and such. You happened to be here when I got here and touched that handprint on the wall.”

"Oh."

She sat against the wall and shivered, suddenly feeling like she was being watched.

Bat took her hand and held it tightly.

A metal door slammed down behind them, blocking off escape and making Bat jump.

"Well, thanks," the girl said. She sounded nice.

He smiled slightly. “Now, I ask this in the nicest way possible, who are you guys? Why are you here?”

Tam jumped as well, squeezing his hand tightly.

That isn't good . . . she thought to herself.

Huh. That might actually work, but it might make him vulnerable when he groups Nullite in a different part of his body.

Unless he's using magic or something to push the natural dust around...

Yeah, idk if that would work, honestly 😅

He shook her head. "They'll see us soon."

I can if I say it could!

Plus, it’s not like it would completely cripple him - his body is not is body.

Quote order weird.

Turning from Utility quickly, Taeinid speaks to Afterimage.

"Please do! It's not good when they come out."

So like

his body talks to yall, it interacts with you all, but it’s really just an illusion.

Then the illusion would disappear, based on what's powering it.

“We’re… NOY sure.”

That isn't good . . . she thought to herself.

It felt like they waited for hours before the wall in front of them— the one made of stone— bent and shifted, revealing hinges and seams into a blank, sterile room. Strangely enough, there was no Nullite in sight— nothing but a camera in the corner. Bat carefully climbed out onto the floor and then helped Tam.

Not… exactly. We try to follow the established lore for the sake of continuity, because that allows for really cool things.

She followed anxiously.

"What's going on?" she whispered.

Okokok

So

This is the basics - each particle of the Adari has an indefinite size, indefinite mass, etc. They can be split into more, and they each have capacity to do stuff. Like near-Narration.

Afterimage is the shared consciousness between them - but his body is just a collection of some of them. The rest literally permeate everything they can reach.

If the particles were to have a third substance - some sort of regular dust - it could separate itself from the rest with an almost film - it would hold the dust up in an outline of a body, and the Nullite dust would rest on that.

The Adari particles would be inside that outline, away from the Nullite. Then, the other Adari particles would be able to read all the stuff that the cut-off particles would see/feel, and then execute whatever magic it would want to do.

It would be limited by its accessibility to the rest of the Adari, but this is still better than nothing.

Okay, but what's it powered by?

Magic?

Magnets?

What?
