Nine wandered down into the crypt, unsure what he would find. The ground was wet, and the air was thick. He called out, hoping for a response

His voice echoed back to him, but he came across a pair of statues. The man wore a long cloak and had piercing eyes, while the young woman, who seemed about the right age to be the man's daughter, wore a similar but more elegant cloak and a long dress.

A handprint was sunken into the stone wall behind them like a perfect clay mold.

I will keep this secret on your behalf, though not hers. But if you truly break her, there will be consequences.

Thank you. She stood, stabilizing her disc as she did so and allowing it to float down to be level with him. Are you all right?

Whatever I break I can promise to fix. I'd put it in bold, but I don't want my characters to know.

I think I am. I simply agree with you.
Good. I assume the memory manipulation extends to anything I might have to say on the topic, so I do not break my word?

He shrugged.

"I could take you somewhere with an abundance of Nullite. What are you planning to use it for?"

“Specifically Nullite dust - that way, I’m not always just Narrated away if I do anything consequential. I’ll mix it with the magical crystal dust that makes up my body.”

"What the...? Are you guys seeing the colors too?"

The colors disappeared.

Afterimage giggled. “It’s just a step away from Narration, honestly.”

Warily, Taeinid looked at Afterimage.

"Are you a Narrator?"

She nodded and squeezed his hand.

"Do you have any gloves?"she whispered.

Warmth was sucked out of his body at an alarming rate, but he found himself unable to pull away. He began to feel cold as stone, and the sensation only spread, until finally it stopped.

"Hello?" Said a youthful voice behind him.

She nodded and Narrated rows and rows of tiny, tiny candles in the same way she'd made the instruments sound to scale, then sent them floating in the middle of the room, arranged almost like a chandelier.

Not quite. If you attempt to speak to her directly, Lady Bug will likely just modify her again. She retains a measure of control, since Symbol is her own creation. Enough to be very dangerous to her, should she wish to be. Especially since she's freed from the contract. It would be safest for Symbol if you didn't mention anything to her.

Nullite nullifies all forms of magic, jsyk

Not just Narration

I think Xino once mentioned that Narration was the most powerful thing it could Nullify, so that probably would be uh not good for him

He pulled some out of his bag and handed them to her.

So - I actually thought about this.

Nullite doesn’t resist the pull of planets - Afterimage would be able use some sort of natural dust which he was pushing - and then, using that, he would nudge the Nullite the way he wanted.

Doing and undoing, action and inaction, life and death, existence and emptiness, intensity and calm?
That sounds a bit like the mantle, actually.
Yeah - for everyone involved.
That was fine with Rebus.

existence and emptiness I feel would be the closest, but still not quite. I don't really thing intensity and calm fits, I don't think that they would be doing/undoing because which does and which undoes, and I don't think life/death quite fits. action/inaction feels more like a chaos/order thing.

"I can't make any, if that's what you're implying."

She squeezed it.

". . . This tunnel is really small," she said quietly. "How do they get anything through here?"

Hush you

You're not a terrible person :P

hehe :3

Huh. That might actually work, but it might make him vulnerable when he groups Nullite in a different part of his body.

Unless he's using magic or something to push the natural dust around...

Yeah, idk if that would work, honestly 😅

You did phrase it well. Muin just has many many plans. Also, you could have negotiated it so that you wouldn't have to give him an extra favor, but... Too late!

"Wonderful. Before I agree, can I hear the contract one last time?"

Muin is very sus of everything.
