Haly took his hand instead and shook it vigorously. "Nice to meet you! Well, I mean, you know. Want some almonds? If you suck on them long enough, the skin comes off!"

Symbol was grateful for the reminder. "You know, if we wanted to really elevate our Author's interest, I can think of a couple experiments we could try." She raised an eyebrow slightly.

She headed that way.

Nemesis went over. "Where's Keys?" She had, in fact, been taken to the forest with the bird people.

"Authority!" Haly clapped her hands. "I love that! Perfect term!!"

Heir had pretty good handshake (if I do say so myself), having built up the muscles from swimming. “I think we’ve met here before actually, but nice to meet you again. I didn’t know that, actually - I’ll find myself some real almonds after school and try it.”
Rebus grinned. “Experiments sound intriguing - as I said, my lab is looking a little stagnant at the moment. Would these be magic experiments, or plot ones?”

There was another screech as she got closer, and a pterosaur-like creature rocketed out from over a cliff in a burst of speed.
Rebus raised an eyebrow. “I know, but it seems to be word salad - ah, that was why there were cats. But regardless, you have her soul, and my teleporter, so you haven’t lost much. Your encounter with Meat went about how I anticipated - you can’t really do anything with him unless he gets more anchored to reality, and he’s erratic enough that if you’d asked for shoes he might have given you a soul, then been unaffected by the magic.”
“I’ve had it for a while, actually - but I didn’t have a good reason for anyone I had Authority over to use it. That would be the actual intended usage - the non-verbified verb would probably just be Author.”

Glass meant herself. She was currently using the paper avatar, as she didn't like how she looked.

-

Shoe was munching on some eggs.

Morning. How'd you sleep?

-

She smiled tiredly and hugged him back.

That made Haly sad. She wanted to see ACTUAL Glass. Besides, even outside of the Thread, actual Glass was pretty.

-

"Decent," she grumbled. She'd slept very well. "I don't trust this place. Are you letting them poison you?"

-

He woke up with a yawn, hugged her a little longer, then sat up.

She paused. "Magic. Yes, magic, of course. That will engage your Author better, and mine is near chronically online anyway. I know little of those things, however, and I would like to elevate my fighting abilities through Narration and other mediums first."

Rose pulled out the laser and yelled at the pterosaur like creature.

Oooo, word salad. Can I eat it? "And I got a dragon soul!" He held it up, then slid it into his pocket. He touched a bead on his necklace, and it flashed. "Keys is back now."

"Probably," Haly agreed happily. "I should Author my characters chocolate more often. They'd like chocolate--- er, most of them would, probably."

She hugged Haly more.

"So . . . still waiting for Stormy?" @TwinStorm

He chuckled.

Beosta, what reason would they have to poison us?

-

She groaned in protest and wouldn't let go.

Glass rolled her imaginary eyes and summoned five more.

They all cuddled with Haly.

He smiled at her.

Just try some. It's really good . . .

-

Hmm. Well . . . we couuuuuld . . . ummm . . . I dunno. Breakfast, maybe?

She turned into a crab and giggled.

I actually have a strange plot that I've been thinking about for a few months so the next time they travel somewhere I can start that 🤔

Trust me though

The village plot is still happening- albeit slowly. :P

Haly squeaked happily and sat down to cuddle with her stoats.

She eyed the food, then sat down and took a plate of eggs.

"I'm not eating fish for breakfast," he informed her, picking her up.

Gotcha :P

“Narration is nearly the highest form of magic - to refine and test it will help us, though adopting a second set of powers to serve as a backup and to provide characterization is a step I would take eventually.”
The dragon suddenly swooped towards her, screeching again and extending its tail. It was covered in some sort of armor-like plates, even on the wings.
“Guess who made up the evolutionary history, ecological niche, and chimerical anatomy of the throwaway monster.” Said Heir.

“He seems to have rubbed off on you a bit.” Rebus noted, inspecting the soul.
“Chocolate is good. Do we want to officially pause the dog and construct plotline for the moment?” Heir asked, noting he was matching several of his characters’ behaviors (I did change the dialogue to sound more like me and less like Rebus, but I kept the word association induced topic change).

Symbol nodded, looking out across the sky. “I would prefer to never rely on Narration in a fight. Thus, there are several items I would like to Narrate or construct in order to enhance my natural abilities.”

She clicked on the laser and aimed it at the dragon’s eye.

“It sure wasn’t me,” Haly chirped.

Nemesis shrugged. “My nemesises are still somewhere I can’t reach them. I need another nemesis.”

”Sure. Or just led it fade. Beginnings isn’t picky about what happens to the things it begins.”

“I agree completely - hence my technology.” Rebus paused, and after a second Symbol’s ability to teleport returned. “Shall we begin?”
The laser guessed it was meant to blind and distract, and sent a fairly bright beam of light at the dragon, causing it to crash into the ground.
Heir shrugged. “I suppose I set myself up for that. Anyway, I’m learning about mollusks in biology, so I made the thing a cross between a nautilus and a generic scary flying thing. I might reuse them, actually.”
“Another nemesis… I’m blanking on relevant targets, but I do know of a spirit of pure evil you can capture to gain strength.”
“We can return them for a cameo at some point, I suppose. I wonder if there’s a Middles…”
