Jack was not alone for long. A young man with black hair that shimmered like coals appeared, dragging a frizzy-haired and very disgruntled brunette.

A bucket of cheese was dumped on her head. 

She giggled and attempted to pull herself out.

"Nuh-uh!"

He grinned and pushed his own even faster.

It was a small, circular, glowing console with glass marbles embedded in the surface. 

Somebody giggled at Holt.

He wore rich, dark clothes, draped with jewels. They softened when his eyes landed on Corysande. He strode over to her, ignoring the others, and she stood, and they embraced. 

"I missed you, Corysande," they could hear him whisper. His voice was dark and husky.

"It's summertime," she replied simply, voice implicatory.

He sighed. "You know I miss you all the time."

She pulled away, but he took her hands, and she didn't fight, just looked away. She sent a glance Holt's way, but it was so fleeting he might not have even noticed.

"Mmmm... Symbol had one of these." Lady Bug frowned at it, then reached out and rolled one of the tiny spheres in its socket. One of the metallic spheres moved over, forcing Bat to jump out of the way.

A red outline appeared, moving at around the same pace she was. It attacked and blocked, speeding up as she did. Rebus gave technique advice as he watched.

Hades shooed someone else out of the chair to his right and told Corysande to sit there. The boys were offered empty seats across the table.
