He yawned and rested his head back on the wall.

"It's fine."

“Okay.” She went on healing both his legs, then his arms, working the muscles a little. She gave him a hand massage, too. “Do you want me to do your back too?”

"Olivia," she replied. She had a name tag, but decided not to point it out.

She gave him his change.

  Okay. Just checking.

She squeezed him.

. . . I'm sorry.

-

"Good, good."

She pointed to his head.

"Um, do you mind if I . . . ?"

“It’s not your fault,” he whispered.

-

“Oh— oh. No, go ahead.”

He nodded, even more sleepy now.

"Thanks," he mumbled, shifting so she could do it. "How do you do that?"

Just now, Bird Furious said:

“Oh— oh. No, go ahead.”

. . . I couldn't do anything.

-

She nodded and placed her hand lightly on the side of his head, then took the pain away.

"Better?"

“Wow,” he breathed. “Wow. You… you’ve done that before.”

-

“I don’t think so.”

"What?" he said, cocking his head.

She hugged him tighter.

"Can I check it anyway? When you're done?"

There was one just down the street.

"Alright."

She finished his back after a while. The aching wasn’t totally gone, but it was almost exponentially better.

She frowned, looking down across the village. “That’s… strange. So… do you have a quest for me, or a problem, or a favorite flower or something to sell?”

She had. She’d done it a lot. He’d even pestered her into doing it when he was sore sometimes.

-

“It’s okay… I’m okay.”

Somebody knocked on the door of the cabin.

He took off the old bandaged and disinfected the area again.

"You're healing really fast . . . which is good because I only have one bandage left," he laughed.

He applied the other bandage.

"Done."

Tam sighed in an exhausted sort of way, not really caring what Bat's family was thinking of them.

We should probably get that . . .

He took it, then stood. He squeezed it before letting go. “I wonder if there’s spaghetti around here.”

-

“I don’t want to,” he told her.
