Behind the door, there were dusty crusty musty wooden stairs leading down to a stone room, which was mostly empty save for one thing. Lillian's form lay on the floor, bruised and battered. She looked... dead. But no. Even as she lay there seemingly lifeless, her chest rose and fell silently. Confirming life. Confirming hope. There was something on her neck, though. A tattoo. A weird twisting calligraphy character, written in a strange language. It was glowing ever so slightly, but the light was dim. It was flickering. Next to her lay another rat.
