are there any other avatars besides narrators or authors

not really 

narrators were originally made to be the avatar of an author, and generally shared the author's name, like Nameless or Platypus. But things got more character focused, so you get Narrators like Subversion, Bacon, and Tam, who are personalities independent of their authors (as independent as they can be, at least). 

An author's avatar isn't generally called an author, since we're obviously behind the screen. They also don't generally directly show any powers, since we control characters, the environment, and pretty much everything we need to without using our avatars. There's not a lot of precedent to it, as far as I know. 

So the three levels are character, Narrator, and Avatar, with Avatar being the newest of the three. 

That's my personal take on it. I'd be really interested to see what poor @NameIess would have to say about it

Haly sat down and started playing Scrabble while she waited for something to happen. 

But she didn’t really like Scrabble. So she used the tiles to make paths on the board and the used Monopoly tokens to walk around on that. 

I did this all the time at my grandma’s house.
