She went and locked the door to the room, made sure no one else was in it but them (and Rose and Cricket through the portal, technically), and went back to the bed.

The area around them shifted, and they appeared in what seemed to be a desert. A range of mountains rose in front of them.

Pyk’s breath caught. He… he knew this place. Not the general area, this specific place.

He inspected the sand below them. The majority of it was sand… but… some of it was ash.
