Ryss walks away to leave the Scribe alone.

"Uh... what just happened?"

Demonic laughter echoed around him, fire dripping from the air. His vision began to warp and twist, and any stumbling sent the distorted light twirling. A figure stands in uffish thought, upside down in the air.

The man flipped without flipping, and suddenly Ryss was upside down instead. “#*%+, you mean! I’ve heard you are, and add that to yes for you. Which is a completely different thing entirely.” Snakes appeared around him, and he took one and torn it in half, making pieces of paper.

Ryss grins. His eyes begin glowing a strange black, and his body begins to separate, fading into thousands of astral versions of himself.

He reaches his hands out, and grabs the air. It ripples and shakes, and Ryss slams his hands into the ground.

The air tears with a blinding explosion of light and a loud ethereal screaming noise. Ryss smiles, an evil, insane grin.

Ryss kicks away the dagger.

And ripping noise, Symbol appeared and bonked Ryss on the head with a baseball bat.

“I’m not done existing,” she snapped.

 Well… that was strange.

She grimaced.

Yup. Rebus is the only meta character I have, but wow. He’s telling the truth, actually. I’ve caught myself rubbing my hands together like a supervillain.
Also, we’ve kinda entered an apocalypse pileup. We should start another just because.

Imma make Symbol try and emulate him cuz that’s gonna be fun and I honestly don’t quite know who she is yet besides Ruia 1. Without the incredible drive to constantly manipulate 2. With sincerity 3. With a friend, which believe it or not makes a HUGE difference and already has avoided a critical offshoot for Ruia’s previous character

Pyks breath continued to quicken. He looked around, and, seeing a familiar thing, relaxed. They had arrived at the Salamander forest.

A person stepped out to greet them, wearing a cloak and a mask over half their face.

The Priest watched the pair of them with a fond smile. I think they'll turn out all right. As long as I'm here to make certain nothing untoward happens.

Certainly, said the ennuller calmly, leading 656 away.

"Indeed," said Onyx with a frown, thoughtful.

"I think that..." Something buzzed at the Dreamsmith's side, and he pulled a small hourglass from within his cloak. The top bulb was about three-quarters full. "Ah. My other news. I'm afraid that visiting you is not going to be as easy as I thought it would be." He held the hourglass contemptuously, eyes flaring as he looked at it. "Omen keeps me close to the surface of the World of Dreams, allowing him to bring visitors in safely. But when I returned to the World of Dreams after my last visit, there was... recoil." He grimaced. "Omen says that the longer I stay outside the afterlife, the more powerful the force pulling me back will become. If it becomes too strong... He will lose his connection to me, and I shall be lost deep in the World of Dreams, unable to find my way back to the surface, unable to practice my craft." He pulled the hourglass back into his cloak. "I'm sorry, but this may be the last time I can visit you. For some time, at least."

"According to article B section thirty-seven, if the witness is unable or unwilling to give testimony despite giving a trustworthy written report, that written report shall be substituted for their spoken testimony." The Wise Judge looked up. "That's cleared up. I will now read the report from Platypus regarding his visit to the Dreamsmith."

He did so, reading Platypus's account of the battle with the wizard impersonating Omen and his subsequent meeting with the Dreamsmith. Notable in the testimony was the mention of a mysterious figure using some kind of sword to draw seekers of the Dreamsmith to the wizard instead of the real Omen, and the Dreamsmith's admission that the Great Wizard did not want to claim the Blades for himself.

"Apprentice, this evidence guts their accusation that the Wizard conspired to claim the Blades for his own gain." ... whispered. "Now all we have to do is prove that the Great Wizard did not command the adventurers that you were travelling with, and we should get our reduced sentence."

Gore warning!

Spoiler

The guy falls down, his mask falling off.

Under it was a gruesome scene. Very gruesome.

The eye was hollowed out, a lizard in the back of the cavity. A number of small eggs lined the rest.

Slowly, the man picked himself up.

“Yes, it does. That’s why I was about to unify opposition against me, but some guy showed up saying he could kill Authors, and all the Authors were understandably distracted. Regardless, Tam and Bat have refused to help, so if I get them to regardless they won’t qualify.”

She surreptitiously pressed a pair of Nullite cuffs into Rebus’ hands. Hurry, before they can notice or react.
