“I woulda learned, but my parents said I could only learn ‘useful, orchestral instruments’.”

He drew a tree for shade, and then a sun.

"I could teach you." he offered. "Or are you too tired of instruments?"

“Nah, I could go for that. As long as it’s not an hour every day or anything rigorous.”

She sat beneath the tree with her stoat happily.

Bat drew a field of tiny flowers around her, careful not to stab her or the stoat with the pencil.

It wouldn't have hurt her, anyway.

She picked one and put it in her hair, then put another behind her stoat's ear.

"Yeah, of course not. I lost mine a long time ago, but I'm sure Tam could make us both one." he said, softly. He reached over, turned off the jazz music, and began to sing softly, tentatively but getting louder and richer, in a fine baritone. He sang an old, sad folk song.

He added a slight breeze and a table full of food, then some music notes from a bird in the tree.

This was fun. Almost like being a Narrator.

She listened closely and joined in on the second chorus with a high, clear harmony.

She grinned. This was actually kind of nice.

The tree suddenly caught on fire.

He yelped and dumped water on it. Well, drew water.

He smiled at her, as he continued to sing slowly.  "Low lie the fields of Athenry, where once we watched the small free birds fly. Our love was on the wing, we had dreams and songs to sing, it's so lonely 'round the fields of Athenry."

It started raining, and Tam ducked under the picnic table.

Bat sighed in relief and drew a bunch of umbrellas.

NO THAT ONE AWAYS MAKES ME CRY

IK

I love it so much

cuz we do singalongs occasionally at cast parties and I can never get through it without tearing up.

"Thanks. It's old. A traveler once taught it to me, when I was younger, and it stuck with me. The meaning behind it."

She lay back down.

It suddenly got really windy, and the umbrella Tam was holding onto started blowing away with her and the stoat. She grinned.

Bat yelped and drew a barrier against the wind.

She squeaked happily and snatched it. “Thank you!”

She happily perched on his head to eat it. “Where we going?”

"I don't know. I guess we'll figure it out tomorrow."

He gazed at her as he absentmindedly hummed the tune of the song. She was strange. She claimed to be so... bad, even tried to believe it, but she had good instincts. At least good enough.

She fell to the ground with an oof.

There wasn't actually any noise, but a tiny written "oof" appeared next to her head.

“What’re you looking at, pretty boy?”

"For my problem? Yes. But I want to figure out what happened to you and those other dragons too." He sighed, and slumped forward, bracing his head with his hands. "I don't know, Eepy. I've been hunting people down, seeking vengeance so long, that I don't really know what to do anymore."

She got up and nodded, smiling and hugging the stoat. It didn't hurt or anything.

“Oh, good,” he said happily. He drew a horse.

She was quiet for a minute before she climbed on top of his head.

“Hero,” she said softly.

He snorted.

“What would you think if I framed you?”
