“No, it’s creepy that you can just… change yourself like that. If you don’t have your own mind, and your own body, you don’t have anything.” She ran her hands down her bare arms and tattoos.

She shrugged and took another bite of the apple. "I mean, I guess. But changing your mind versus your body are two different things, in this case."

“But it’s like… you just… took your fundamental ness and changed it.” She shook her head. “And you’re not even planning on changing it? Trying to sort through your problems?”

She shrugged again. "I have tried, but . . . it doesn't usually go so well."

She thought for a moment, then sighed.

"I guess . . . one of the things I have problems with, I don't think you know about. Or at least, you didn't seem to know about it earlier. It's . . . definitely a Narrator thing, unless we choose to share it." She shook her head sadly. "I . . . there's not really a good answer, and it's kind of something that I just have to deal with. That we all have to deal with, whether we know about it or not, and I just . . . can't, for some reason."

She tilted her head. “You should go to therapy. Either that, or become a writer.”

Tam snorted at the irony of that statement.

"I probably do need therapy though, don't I."

“Clearly.” She leaned back, bored. She resolved to make Bat give her some paper when he got back.

Sensing that their conversation was over, Tam laid back on the ground.

Where was Bat? Was he okay?

Well, she should probably give him some space. If he wanted to be alone for a while, she wouldn't fault him for it.

But what if he's in danger? whispered a little voice in the back of her mind. What if he needs you?

She ignored it. Like Rose had said, he was probably fine.

The bunny nudged her hand. If she was going to have a Pet, it better be an Interesting Pet who did Many Great and Preferably Bloody things.

Tam grinned and scratched the rabbit behind the ears.

…or that. That was Sufficient. She scooted onto her Pet’s lap.

“Good Pet,” she said in Bunny, which sounded very soft and squeaky.

Rose watched, bemused.

"Pet?" she said in turn.

“Of course. You are my Pet, because I was too Bored and Full to Consume you.”

Tam scratched the rabbit some more, unconcerned.

"Well, as long as you don't eat my friends, I'm fine with that."

“Aw… are ALL of these people your Friends?” She eyed Rose.

She nodded. "There's one more, but he should be back soon . . . hopefully."

“Aw… where are the Not Friend Humans? I am hungry for Flesh!”

That was mildly concerning.

"I'm sure there will be some, soon. What's your name?"

“I am Destroyer!”

". . . Can I call you Dessie? I'm Tam."

“Dessie! I will be Dessie of Destroy and Desolation and DESSERT.” She curled up comfortably. “And you are my Pet Tam.”

“Uh……. I think this might be your fatal flaw. What’s that rabbit?”

“Weird. Kinda cool. What, you think I was scared?”

She had been scared, but she didn't need him to know that.

“No. Just confused.”

She continued to not notice it.

Oh. Right. Cricket.

. . . Trying. I'm trying, she said somewhat laboriously. Just . . . give me a few minutes.

Okay. Just... don't do anything too stupid

Bat will be fine. Maybe not in the moment, but once Malan is dead, he'll see why keeping him in the dark was necessary.

"Hm?" Malevolence looked startled by Bat's words. "Oh, the rabbit? No clue. Just seemed to... come out of nowhere."

Malevolence let them sit there.

"What evidence do you have that he doesn't exist?" Subversion asked in an annoyed tone. "Also, I'm fine with helping test the robot Enuller."

The rabbit by Malevolence, it shall be noted, stayed very far away from Tam.

“I’ve heard about the sun. It wasn’t confusing.”

Tam apparently Narrated all her bad memories to the back of her head, and Bat was weirded out, so Rose sent him to get her chicken salad even though she hates chicken and so Bat’s in a floating warehouse in the middle of nowhere trying to process and Rose and Tam are having a conversation—or were I guess— and Tam has a bunny named Dessie for Destroyer now. Or, well, Tam is the bunny’s Pet.

Little did Rebus know, a Treasure Plotblade had indeed made most of these Plotblades. Just not the Lost Treasure Plotblade.

Uh oh. Eh, it’s probably fine. It’s hard to prosecute the guy who gave everyone Plotblades.

Desolation walked around in the room. It was perfectly cubical, and there were shelves like a library- but only for Plotblades. Most had a description, but many were missing. Included amongst these were Side Quest, Hero Journey, Fables. But Desolation found one Plotblade that caught his interest. One that caught the idea of TLT as a whole

He quietly picked up the blade and dissolved it into his essence, and then rejoined Rebus.

The Plotblade he took is called "Nonsense". I think it fits in fairly well.

Yeah. Meat the Minstrel might want to fight him for it, but I think that works.
Rebus walks around the room, studying the various blades and taking about one in three - teleporting them away without bonding them. “Some of these are quite dangerous; this one lets you train someone and then die. But others really could be useful. There’s quite a few cosmic threats going around, you know.” He smiles knowingly as he takes many of the unlabeled blades. “I might put these back, actually, once I determine what they do. This place is pretty secure, after all. Assuming you don’t know where it is or what to do, I mean.”

”He’s prolly fine. He’s weirdly immune to the universe or something.”

Rose sighed. “Are we really doing this again?” She asked nobody in particular. “Hello, rabbit.”

The rabbit looked very hungry.

Rebus noticed a Plotblade in the form of a golden scepter. It was beautiful, and something told him that it was by far the most powerful of the bunch. The plaque under it said something, but it seemed a bit blurry.

Rebus’s mind wars between “useful tool” and “obvious trap”. Without touching the scepter, he has utility fog search the pedestal for traps.
