Thanks :D

Bat picked them up and held them over the bottle. "Can you make them disappear?"

She frowned. "I don't know, actually."

She tried to Narrate them away.

Not sure if you have something specific in mind or not, so . . . indeed. :P

The gloves vanished and the Nullite dropped into the bottle.

I think that would work so :P

Bat beamed. "Nice. Thanks."

She looked curiously at the bottle. "Yeah, no problem . . . I thought that only part of the gloves would have vanished, not all of them. Proximity, and all that?," she said, confused.

"On a slightly related note, do you know why you were flickering earlier? When I tried to Narrate you? That wasn't what I expected at all . . ."

He shook his head. "Me neither. My tattoos... must be... not working. Or maybe your Narration is just really powerful?"

"It must be the first. As far as I understand it, Narration doesn't really have a spectrum of power- all Narrators are equally powerful." She thought for a moment, watching him continue cleaning up the ink.

"I could be totally wrong though."

"You know better than I do." He paused, looking disturbed. "I guess.... we should run tests or something. I need my tattoos to work."

"I . . . guess that makes sense, but are you sure you would want to do that? You clearly aren't very comfortable with this kind of stuff."

"I'll be even less comfortable when some uncaring rando takes all my bones and makes me into human soup. I wanna try it."

"Uh . . ."

She was half-tempted to do that to herself now, just to see what it felt like.

"Well, if you're sure, I bet we can come up with a few things . . ."

He nodded hard. "Yeah, just do it. I'll be okay."

He was NOT gonna be okay! He was gonna DIE!

You're not gonna die, he told himself. Tam's nice. You're gonna be fine. She's human, remember?

His hand strayed into his bag to touch the flower and he took a deep breath.

"Hey, you'll be fine. I promise I'll be super careful, okay?"

"Oh! Um, okay . . ."

She tried to think of a decent test . . . and it actually wasn't that hard.

"Here, let's try this-"

She Narrated his nausea and nervousness away.

He frowned. He didn't feel so much like thowing up. This wasn't so bad. He looked down at himself, but nothing had changed. "What did you do?"

He stared at her for a second. "You... no, no, don't do that!" He stepped back, reaching for another bottle, but he paused. He didn't want to break another one.

And now he felt sick again.

"Please," he said, fist tightening around the neck of the bottle. . "Please never change me. Not... me, please. If I don't have my emotions, I... don't have anything."

"Oh- no! I'm sorry, I didn't mean- it wasn't- it's just a temporary thing!" she tried to explain, standing and throwing her hands up. "I'm not changing you- I was just trying to help! It's like- it's like if you took some medicine to help you calm down, it's just temporary! Everything will come back, I swear!"

Scud, the first thing she'd tested, and she'd already messed up!

She felt . . . really awful about that, actually.

Ehehehehe I have spread the scud

"Well... please, just don't... not without telling me... I need to know who I am, and when I can't feel things, I'm not... I... I'm sorry. I just... I need to know who I am." He messed with the buckle on his satchel.

She sat back down on the platform, feeling rather defeated.

"Sorry," she mumbled. "I should've realized- just . . . sorry."

"It's..." he hesitated. "about peace. The only way I won't hear the screams of the dead, dream of Telse's corpse, is to avenge their deaths. I'm broken, and this is the first step towards healing. Get my dirty work over with then," he paused. "I can start a new life. Move on."

Once again, said the doctor, might I suggest therapy?

He was… but I guess Onyx facilitates the Dreamsmith trial, or at least the challenges within his realm that lead up to it. Regardless, Rebus was canonically creating that ping, as it is bolded.

The wind swirled around Rebus.

"What do you wish?" it asked.

18 hours ago, Halcyon The Only said:

"...the former." He blushed in embarrassment and nervously watched her work with the sphere.

"Oh... yeah, I can imagine that..." She frowned. "I don't think I'm much of a hero, though, so... I don't know if I'd quite understand."

Nogard sighed. "Well, you aren't alone in that feeling, I suppose."

Ryss took a deep breath.

”I fell through a roof on the day I was to kill a god…”

Rebus listens, absently trying to change the rhythm he reads with to match the Fresh Prince. If you want, I can read the actual posts myself, if you point me towards them. I’m sure I’ll have questions anyway, but that might save you some time if you know where they are.

Beneath them on the ocean floor, Template disappears. They’ve been Narrated away, though away doesn’t necessarily mean gone.

Rebus - a clone, of course, for Rebus prime was occupied - appears standing on the water a dozen or so feet away. He sits down to watch the first scientific display of metaphysics since he’d existed, willing to help if need be.

Rebus does a few last-second preparations, clearing much of the Narrative power from his body - leaving passive Thread-awareness and similar abilities, of course - he sends it to the bored clone. Suffusing himself instead with nanomachines, he stands tall. “I wish to seek the Dreamsmith. I understand you may send me on the first step of this journey.”

"Such a simple wish?" the wind whispered, laughing. "You hardly need me for that."

She shrugged and pet Qodi. “I… I’m trying. But I don’t think I’m much of a hero. And I don’t know why I’d be in the prophecy.”
