Well, I can always give it to someone else.

(Besides. I’m a Narrator. You expect me to keep track of time well? Our duelish thing was just a few posts ago!)

It was pages ago, actually.

Here’s another one! This one causes pain in whoever you stabby stab.

Doesn't a normal sword do that, too?

Rebus, listening, wonders how that would be different from an ordinary sword.

Oh yeah lol

Um… I know the location of some… and that they scare me…

Also, no, you cannot have any of my Notblades. I only have made three, and the third one is not for sale ‘tall.

And, yes, I gave Bat the other two. I like Bat.

Why did you give him two, though? What does this other one even do?

Indeed, there was a potbellied pig wearing a suit and tie.

It tipped its hat at Pancakes.

The fear is justified, I think. I’d like to do something about it, though. I’ll have to counter them at both power level and plot level, if I- he cuts off. Don’t want to lay the foreshadowing on too thickly. As for Bat, that’s probably good, character-wise. But I think I need aid from Authors in order to fight them. Did I tell you something came to me for a Faustian bargain and I annoyed it away by accident? I think the Thread is trying to stop me from having fun.

Is rebus a narrator?

Well, I already have a heckofalot of knowledge! Here!

He gave Rebus a deep understanding of a magic system he had been concocting.

it is Adtae

“This other one” is a Notblade. Not part of reality, so it does not need to touch one to induce the pain. Though contact is more effective. Also, the pain is equivalent to the amount of pain Madness could bring against any of her Servants - a heck of a lot.

The one Bat already has created illusions that can fool even Narrators. Yes, with further inspection, they may see through it, but… *shrug*

"That's pretty normal around these parts. Now that," he says, pointing at a rock figure far in the distance, "is a little less common. Those are normally in the Northeast Quadrant of the Grand Desert, not here. You want to come see what's going on?"

Rebus nods. “Of course I’m a Narrator. I had the drone, remember? But you know as well as I that me knowing something my Author doesn’t results in an informed ability, which thus makes it hard for me to prepare for fighting Ennulers.”

I didn’t say it was useful, I just… dumped it on you. Also… Madness may wish to meet you, should she ever get her powers back. I wouldn’t stand for it, and would probably send Parasite against you should that happen, but… *shrug*

Jilu appeared next to him, and he turned red. She had a number of vials in a bag strapped around her waist.

Rebus nods. “For one thing, I thought you made the Notblades from Madness’s powers, and for another I’m probably insane and powerful enough. If I’m Madnessed, I’ll probably only be able to fight your characters, which will be boring.”
He turns to Jilu, the change of color corrected through metamaterials. “Finally something to do. Do you need any explosives? And you aren’t a rabbit, correct?”

Those metamaterials were useless when faced with the fact that she was just changing the light, not the material. And yes. She was destroying energy from a distance.

”No! I’m a werebeast! I got these powers from eating a rabbit.”

honestly I see a way to connect this and Eyes of Adtae….

hmmmmm

Rebus protests to the description that his metamaterials put the light back again, making it look like nothing happened. “So my memory was correct. Do you need anything? What would happen if a whale swallowed you whole?” Rebus and Jilu are standing on a futuristic watercraft in the ocean, yielding some ominous meaning to the question.

“I would eat it.”

The color profusely refused to change back. Perhaps Narration was required here.

Rebus’s nanotechnology quickly replaces everything colorchanged with molecules from the air, collecting the red atoms and storing them for later shenanigans. “Interesting… Red actually has higher energy, you know. Or maybe it doesn’t - I don’t remember. Shall we go set something on fire?”

By the way, red has the lowest frequency.

Suddenly everything coming from every light source was red.

”Seems interesting.”

I forgot to say that Jilu’s words have red sound waves. Yes, that makes perfect sense.

Rebus concedes the point, noting that it’s been a while. “Do you turn heat signatures or radio waves to visible red?” he asks, turning on his antimatter-annihilation lighter for a reference.

Well, yes. But Jilu don’t know all that sciency mumbo jumbo. Personally, I’d be interested in the fact that that power could turn gamma red.

”What?”

“Warmth from a fire is a form of light, with a color most people cannot see. But this is Author bleedover talking, and I’m not sure you care either.”
I wonder if there is a gamma lord of color. And converting infrared into ordinary color can reverse entropy and prevent waste heat.

Hmmmm… pretty sure if there was the people who created em wudda weaponized it.

That is not saying no, just that… maybe… a very dangerous weapon will pop up eventually.

You could prevent waste heat, or you could turn gamma from like a nuke into red.

”Author bleed over? Why is the author bleeding?”

“Personality wise - my Author’s personality is influencing how I think and act. On top of me not getting anything interesting to do, I’m being intermittently mind controlled.”
You could - it would still kill you, I think - but perpetual motion machines are really significant. You’d also have radiation shielding in other circumstances, such as space travel. But yes, if there is such a lord of color, they’d cause problems and be rather OP.

Tam teleported them all back to the beach.

You sure? Seems like something to me.

I can still hear you, y'know, Tam told the Scribe, annoyed.

She nodded. Okay.

And, Tam, if you ever see a hunter, let me know. Don't try to keep me 'safe' like that. It won't work.

Okay, she said quietly, leaving out the fact that all of the other Narrators probably knew already.

That day. That god-cursed day.
