Your friend was recruited by the consultant division. I suppose you could request a transfer, but given your... unique... situation, it seems unlikely it would be granted.

"I'll ask about it, then." he resolved. "Anything to get back to my friends." He paused. "How do I do this, exactly?"

She set down the plate on the coffee table and shook it.

Lady Bug smiled. "That sounds nice."

Her thoughts drifted to what he'd said about memory modification.

Oh well. Probably nothing.

Eva smiled. "You're welcome."

Rebus flashes a smirk. “It’s one of the benefits of using science fiction aesthetics rather than fantasy. Do you want any song in particular?”

Owen smiles back (which seems to be all he does. That may change, though).

Ah

What reasons?

He’s just got really good hearing. Really really good - like hear heartbeats from across a room good.
Owen sits confusedly as Shoe’s pulse rises in embarrassment (it seems - perhaps not) and Beosta blushes. Ah, the stoat is letting them talk. He considers asking to be looped into the conversation, but decides against it.

Far away, in a field now full of walls, towers, ditches, and artful stacks of rocks, the Render continues passing its time by building things. When will the mage come back? I need to bring balance. I need to kill him.

Sequence thought for a moment. “I… I’m not sure. I kind of don’t know what to do about this…” She gingerly poked at the bandage wrapped around her midsection, wincing slightly. “It hasn’t gotten any better. It was their sword. The one they got from the Dreamsmith.” Sequence shuddered. “I really hope, for your sake, that you never have to lay eyes on that thing.”

"Not healing?" Unintelligible stood up, concern returning to his face. "That's not good. You need a doctor." He hesitated. "Do... Narrators have doctors? People who are knowledgeable about Narrator injuries?"

Shoe smiled awkwardly.

I mean . . . I guess we kind of are. Are we? he asked Beosta.

Tam (who was floating on the other side of the room) thought that was kinda weird.

Then she realized that reading peoples minds was weird anyway, and didn't care.

Fael suddenly appeared, gasping, and seeming out of breath. "Winds," she gasped. "Winds. Where am I?" She looked around at the group, glancing at the Narrationblade in her hands. "Oh, sorry about that." she said, dropping it.

She created guests, many many guests.

Rebus, for his part, creates more utility fog. It fills the air, making the music come from all around. Though transparent and people-avoiding in most places, in some areas it lights up to the music. Clouds of glowing nanomachines dance around, locking together into tangibility when it seems relevant. Drinks are poured, step are formed, an elevated dance floor launches people into the air and catches them again, and guests dance with whirling clouds of light.

“This was more fun than I expected.” Rebus comments, fingers dancing across his over complicated board of switches. Most of his changes don’t do very much, or at least don’t seem relevant to the party - the sliders have labels like “dark energy”, “plot holes”, and “recursive reverb”.

Owen hears Tam’s breathing patterns change, and smiles at her. Hopefully the invisible person was friendly - even if they for some reason felt the need to conceal themself.

Yeah. I'm going to try and apply to train with you, so I can stay with you guys, but the Enuller says it isn't likely.
