Asher glanced at pyk. “Alright.” They went to getting as much of the power as they could. Hurry i dont wanna test if a dead person can die right now. im hurrying alright.

Imma need to leave again soon… I have piano lessons…

Pyk raised and arm, struggling to pick himself up. He fell again, but it didn’t hurt. His skin started to take on a blue purple cast.

[Not much longer… he is recovering surprisingly quickly.]

A single Strand finds its way through the barrier, feeling its way around the room slowly.

[I don’t think the Strands can actually see… only their host.]

Asher looked to pyk. Then the strand.  They helped pyk up. “Hey pyk can you hear me? Look now is a great time to be able to do stuff becuase i dont know crap about this.” They threw a small bit  of powder at the strand. Just a little bit. Enough to keep it away till pyk is awake. “Silver what do i do?”

He wasn't?

Thanks. She smiled.

Oh... but... I should probably talk to my dad. She frowned. What do I tell him? Shoe, I... I really don't wanna go back. But I probably should. But I don't want to.

His smile wavered. I . . . I don't know. It's up to you, I guess.

He cleared his throat uncomfortably. If you went back . . . would it be for good? Would you stay? He didn't like the idea of her leaving.

“Probably,” she said. “Or… I don’t know. It depends on why he wants me back.” Maybe I should ask him. Demand he be more clear.

[It doesn’t fully cancel its powers… it just gets rid of the Strands that it touches. If you find a way to cover it in the powder, you would cancel its powers completely. It should take two or three more minutes for Pyk to recover.]

Pyk was finally able to blink. It felt… weird. He twitched a finger. Some objects around him began to float slightly.

A single, tiny Strand peeked through the now almost open door. It dissipated before it could get through, though.

[You will need to get as much of that as possible before the Strands get that wide enough to get past the Adari barrier. You don’t have much time.]

@Ookla the Bacon

What else would I do? Wriulin was always who guided my choices.
Tenth genuinely didn’t know. He knew of other things… but… not what they were.

Pursue your own desires, of course. What is it that you want?

"I was scared out of my wits. But you should give yourself credit; your dancing was better than anything I could do unaided, even when you slipped up with the Narration."

Rebus smiles. "Excellent! It's more fun that way, I think. And look, my name is Rebus now. I haven't been described yet, though - of course, why should I stay just one way?"

Bacon decided to describe Rebus as shorter than himself, for the heck of it.

As Rebus becomes shorter than himself, he shrinks down infinitely, then undoes the Narration and returns to being a poorly described Narrator, rather than a recursively described one. "You might want to check for ambiguities I can mess with before you try tricks like that."

Yeah. She hesitated. I’m scared.

He walked over to her. Why?

Well… what if he doesn’t mean it? What if he doesn’t really care about me?

The thought felt too awful to dwell on.

Hey, I'm sure he cares about you more than you know. Why would he have gone through all the effort to find you if he didn't? He smiled at her reassuringly.

That’s true. She felt somewhat better. Can I hug you?

The dust cancelled out the Strand, but another took its place, and the door was ripped open.
[Wait.]

The Husk burst through the door, a mess of glowing yellow Strands darting for the two of them.

Pyk finally gained complete control of his body. Guided by his AI, he extended a hand, and a blue-purple fog rose from it towards the Husk, meeting and canceling the Strands. Around him, the Adari dust rose and approached the Husk. The two of them were locked into combat, neither able to get an advantage over the other. But the Adari dust was approaching the Husk.

And now I gotta go for counseling. Lol

Asher watched intently. They wanted to help but wernt sure they would be useful here. They could only pray to whatever God they believed in that pyk could win.

He smiled and hugged her back. You're welcome.

She lingered for a minute, then pulled back. I guess I should go ask, she thought unhappily.

Gaioh was pretending he wasn’t curious as to the conversation and Bat was over by a tree being confused.

Lol…

I may or may not have made Pyk the Mystic equivalent to a Husk. (They aren’t evil, and they keep their brain as well, tho)

Pyk struggled against the Strands, shouting a curt command to Asher. “Throw as much Adari at it as possible!”

Throwing forth another hand, he attempted to slow time for the beast. Its Strands cancelled it out, but the air there seemed to twist.

{That… don’t put your hand there. It won’t come out quite the same.}

Probably.

He stood there awkwardly for a moment.

. . . Could I come with you?

Please. A wave of relief accompanied the words. Should we go now? She asked, mostly to stall.

Let’s… go now. To get it over with.
