“Yes, you are,” Beosta snapped. “Go fight or something and leave us alone.”

It’s not personal. She’s stressed and about three minutes from passing out…

Shoe is important to her, you see.

Asher shrugged. "Ok then." They turned around and with really fast speed ran to a group of withergeist to fight.

I know. Asher is almost sure they can't feel emotions. They can. They just are really really really really really dimmed. To an almost unknowable level. This makes them bad at seeing any form of social cues. They couldn't see the moment they were having. Yes there is very much a backstory on why they are like that.

I gotta go. So.

Asher wasn't sure if anyone else got this. but when they fought. They get lost. As if a trance. Only 3 thing matter. Your weapon. The enemies. And wining. They couldn't hear anything. They didn't see anything. Just fighting. The clash of blades or the thuding of fists. In this case. The shrieks of withergeists as their mordite blade cut them down.

Salem was crying.

her shadow grew, spreading across the land, and the withergeists embraced it greedily. Salem couldn ´ t think, couldn´t breath, couldn ´ t stop the tears flying down her pale cheek. She felt as if her self was being drained out of her. Salems eyes dimmed, the green glow sputtering, and then finally blowing out.

that was it. the damage was done. her new friends would die from what she had done, but at least she had been able to contain it. right? except her shadow wasn´t disappearing. it continued to grow, even though her power was drained.

the withergeists, she thought, this many of them.... it is keeping my Shadow from fading.

Her withergeist came to her then. it was no joyful reunion. she fought against him, but couldn´t stop the feeling inside, the wretched feeling that she needed to destroy, to hurt, to darken everything near her. with her last ounce of strength, she sent the Shadow Girl with a message.

RUN. it said. RUN. we could not fix her and now she will kill you all. she is broken. sheisbrokensheisbrokensheisbroken.

My friend Nogard, the notorious Subversion, the legendary Brave Adventurer, and the mysterious Great Wizard. I invite you all to join me for a peaceful meeting on Sequence’s World. I wish to learn more about the new plotblades and also just catch up! Nogard, we’ve spoken, and I think you’re quite interesting. Subversion, I believe we got off on the wrong foot all those pages ago, during your introduction and the following conflict. As fellow Narrators, I’d like to get to know you better! Brave Adventurer, you are quite a gentleman and I also find you interesting. And the Great Wizard, I know next to nothing about you! But I’ve heard great and fascinating things, and from what I know, you are quite wise. No date, no deadline, just whenever is most convenient for you all!

I hope to see you all soon!

Sincerely, your friend Sequence

P.S. There will be tea.

Fortunately for Nogard, this message completely passed him by.

The rabbits shied away from the light for a moment, then ravenously charged towards Hacob. [Tasty one! Give us the tasty thing!] They leapt for him from all sides, sharp teeth seeking his blood.

The Silent Hero continued launching arrows from his silver bow, frustrated at the apparent lack of effect on TP. He did not appear to notice Platypus.

The red rabbits continued towards Gail, eyes beginning to glow with red light. Their massive claws left grooves in the ground as they hopped in her direction. [Are you tasty? We desire tasty things.]

Subversion sent a message back.

  Reveal hidden contents

No! Don't message Nogard! Revealing the true nature of the Thread to him will break his mind!

"You really believe him to be innocent? Look what he led you to! Look what your companions are doing! We tried to capture you, and you respond by slaughtering adventurers left and right!" The Valiant One took a step towards Nogard, dagger held in a reverse grip. "If the Great Wizard really was trying to find the Blades to keep them safe, then why wouldn't he trust the rest of us? Why wouldn't he have trusted me? He trained me for years, practically raised me! And the others are no less trustworthy. If he truly had good intentions, then he should have told at least some of the council what he was doing." Anger filled his face, but he forced it down and continued. "I swear to you by all the honor that I have left, if you surrender I will ensure that your trial is fair. Please, even if you don't trust the Brave Adventurer, trust me."

Nogard wavered. "I... never meant for anyone to die..."

1 hour ago, NameIess said:

"Get Nogard first! I can handle myself."

More arrows flew, exploding in bursts of magical ice as they landed. The General closed in on TP, maces crackling with energy.

[That stings,] TP complained.

He dove down, attempting to scoop up Nogard from where he stood, then began to accelerate away. The rest of the party would have to fend for themselves.

1 hour ago, NameIess said:

"Waking up..." The Great Wizard mumbled softly. "They're... waking up. Must... must stop them." His eyes slowly opened, but they were unfocused.

"What's waking up?" asked Selppaenip urgently.

1 hour ago, NameIess said:

"He did not need to. My connection to him allows me to sense him wherever he goes. The Dreamsmith is... elsewhere." Omen swirled ominously. "Is your need urgent?"

Not... exactly. We have heard that these two new Plotblades pose an existential threat to the Thread. As custodians of the Thread's welfare, we feel we ought to be made aware of the precise nature of these mysterious artifacts.

She kept climbing. They arrived at the top and she tugged Shoe out of the hole, glancing around for anywhere that could potentially make a bunker— or just somewhere to hide for a second so she could make sure he wasn’t hurt.

The pale man exploded from the hole, face twisted into a rictus snarl. Vines were covering his face, growing into and out of every orifice.

With a snarl, he launched himself at Tam.

Cricket gasped. In Soul World, you saw two versions of people, overlayed. One was what they looked like and the other was their soul. The man had a soul like a shadowy cloud, but most humans had a soul like a pillar of light. Cricket was different, because of his Enuller side, he was a pillar of light with a ribbon of darkness around him. The man was crushing him, and Cricket had no weapons, except for Soul World itself. The monks of Welderan had taught him this technique, how to shape the material that made Soul World to your desires. Cricket did so now, making a glowing sword out of the very earth. He swung it upwards, hoping to the all the gods that it made contact.

The sword pierced directly through the man.

Conflict took the form of a crooked wooden staff, which was shallowly engraved with floral patterns, and held a flawless crystal orb, which glowed with pure, unwavering light. The withergeists screamed in chorus, a deeply unsettling sound, and fled. @Sequence @Nameless @TwinStorm @The Halcyon Girl @Through The Living Glass I accidentally submitted too early so I went back and edited.

"Hold on." She grabbed his shoulders and spun him around, examining him up and down. "Tell me honestly--- are you hurt at all? Broken ribs? Bruising?" Tam, can you heal him? Maybe give him some buffs in case it happens again? Invincibility?

oh also I attacked the guy attacking Cricket.

"I can protect you against Madness for as long as you remain within my realm," Onyx continued. "I can perhaps grant you protection for a brief time outside it. That is all."

Platypus heard the Valiant One. Remarkably, he did trust him. He had respect for the General. The Brave Adventurer's claims surrounding the Blade were accurate, but there was more to the story. The rest of the Council deserved to know the truth.

Instead of attacking the Silent Hero, Platypus quickly wrote a speech and Created a megaphone. It didn't actually do anything, but would hopefully avoid breaking the mind of the one who Onyx wouldn't let know the nature of the world.

"Silent Hero. Valiant One. General," he called, voice clear over the sounds of combat. "Some of what the information the Brave Adventurer told you is true. But there is more to the story, information that he might not have known, or that he intentionally omitted. I would ask that you put the conflict on hold while I explain this."

"TP. Selppaenip. Nogard. Subversion. Everyone else who is fighting. Hold your fight. This is the Council of the Brave Adventurers. The Valiant One is perhaps the most honorable person currently living in the world. The Silent Hero, the antithesis of herodom. The General, an elite fighter who has fought for what is right. They do not want the world to be destroyed."

He raised his voice. "I have seen what happens if only one Blade is claimed. And I have a plan to stop that. But it will require all of you to work together. Please, everyone stop fighting while this gets explained. We don't want any more innocents to die."
