"I suppose."

"Nice and simple. I like it."

There was another moment of silence.

"So. If you didn't come here to save the world... what brought you here?"

"Nothing to do at all."

Nogard blinked. "Nothing at all? Do you live alone in an empty void?"

"No. But the only things to be done had no meaning and so are not worth taking into account."

"Huh," said Nogard. "I think... I think I get what you're saying."

He stood in silence for a moment, pondering.

"Er," he said. "I'm not bothering you, am I?"

Spooky noises came from outside the library.

Erif ironpulled everyone to him.

"That's it," he said. "We're leaving."

WIth that, the group teleported back to the mountain.

Shoe meandered back into the library a few minutes later, having found some small atium nuggets in the janitor's closet.

Uh oh, he thought when he noticed the group was gone.

Qodi felt offended that she hadn’t been consulted. She considered biting him, but decided— just barely— that she was too smart to do so.

I changed my mind, Beosta’s still in the library

"Oh," said Nogard awkwardly.

He shifted his feet.

"You don't seem that talkative", he admitted.

"Phew!" said Bacon the Bard behind Beosta. "That was a close one!"

Nogard perked up when the group returned. "Did you find the book?" Then he frowned. "Wait, where's Shoe?"

Beosta pressed her lips together. She was just outside the library. “You again?”

He waved and gestured to the empty library, shrugging.

“Oh, and you. I don’t think I know your name.”

"I'm not. Do you expect that from people?"

Nogard scratched his head. "Huh. I mean, my best friend doesn't talk at all. But even so, he isn't exactly not talkative. I don't know. It's difficult to explain."

"In the flesh! Say, why didn't you tell me your bunny friend was hanging out with one of Onyx's characters? I could have gotten in serious trouble!"

"I've been watching your story with interest," continued Bacon the Bard. "Tell me. Why is it that you didn't speak? I'm dying to know."
