-Deleted-
So, the first book was Kaladin's, Words of Radiance is Shallan's, book 3 is Szeth's and book 5 is Dalinar's. So who has book 4's flashbacks? Who would you like them to be? I think Eshonai would be a good choice for this because of her travels. I also would love for Navani to have a book. And I can just about guarantee it won't be Hoid. Sanderson is either holding that back for one of the final books, or holding that completely for Hoid's series. In that case we won't be seeing that for quite a while. Who do you think would be best to have the flashbacks for in book four?
Chaos
Eshonai is indeed currently the flashback character for book four.
-Deleted-
Eshonai is indeed currently the flashback character for book four. Wonderful! I'm thrilled to hear confirmation. Now,m on a new note: who wants Rysn to have her own novel? I know we've only seen her briefly, but her story fascinates me and if she got her own book focus, we could gave a new big plot line and the purpose of her is to show us the world. It'd be perfect lol.
Argent
I don't see Rysn as a main character, not at her current stage. She is interesting, and we get to see the fun parts of the world through her eyes, but right now she is an apprentice and stuck to her babsk. Not only that, but what is she going to do if she gets too many chapters of her own? Trade with everyone? No, she will need to become much more important before I agree to a book of her own. Necromancer
I would really like to see a book focused on Taln with a large portion involving Amaram. Amaram is a well-built villain as he isn't evil for the sake of being evil or for any selfish reason and Taln is a badass who survived 4,500 years of damnation. Tyfariel
I'd like to see Taln's flashbacks too. The poor guy, being left being by the other Heralds to suffer for so long. I'd love to see him snap back to reality and head the fight against Odium.

I'd love to see him snap back to reality and head the fight against Odium. He certainly seems capable of snapping back. When he grabbed the darts in mid-air going to Amaram, he studied them for a few seconds, then sat back down. He snapped out of it for just a second. thejopen27
Where are you getting the information that Eshonai is the focus of book four (and Szeth as book three for that matter) the only thing a remember Brandon saying is that book five would be Dalinar. In a video from U books in Seattle for the Steelheart tour Brandon said something about how each book will be dedicated to a different order. Well he didn't say that the flashback character would definitely be a knight radiant of a different order but it fits the confirmed books that I've seen. Kaladin and the Windrunners were book one, Shallan and the Lightweavers were book two and Dalinar and the Bondsmiths will be book five. Also there have been near confirmations that Lift and the Edgedancers will have a book and the Renarin and the Truthwatchers will have a book. As far as Rsyn goes I think she will end up being a Willshaper. She doesn't appear to have been broken but she may be hiding a dark past and there is plenty of story in the future for her Babsk to be killed or for her to be abandoned and for her to be broken. Rsyn does fit a lot of the personality traits of the Willshapers and she was gifted a Larkin (one of the symbols of the KR) by a giant greatshell demigod.
Awesomeness Summoned
Brandon has been asked and listed the first five books' flashback characters at almost every one of the WoR signing events. Szeth, Eshonai, then Dalinar are the next three books.

Rysn as a Willshaper in her own novel. She certainly fits the profile we've been given, and it would make sense for Brandon Sanderson to establish her existence in the early books so she can come to the forefront later on. Awesomeness Summoned
And it would make sense for Brandon Sanderson to establish her existence in the early books so she can come to the forefront later on. From what brandon himself has said, that sounds like what his plans are. He's introducing characters like Lift and Rysn through interludes in the first set of books and maybe have a few intersections with the main characters here and there but then in the second set of books they will take center stage. -Deleted-
Eshonai will be perfect for book 4. Her character fascinated me. I believe Taravangian's will be the most interesting by far, but I believe he's pretty far off for now, I believe until 2nd sequence. So i'm really glad Eshonai will get her own book. I believe Dalinar's will be the most revealing, though. Keeping in mind that Dalinar's flashbacks will not only cover whatever happened to his memory, but it will help us learn about the Old Magic, as well as give more insight to Dalinar, Gavilar and Sadeas' relationship directly. It might also be the only time we see Kholinar pre-riot and pre-Everstorm, outside of the celebration night.

That's gonna be waaaay dramatic and awesome.
RShara
I don't know if Rysn is going to get her own book. The last five are pretty full. Brandon has confirmed Lift, Renarin, Jasnah and "the person who calls himself Taln." It's still possible, just that there's not much room left
kaellok
You'll have to admit that there was an awful lot of people other than Kaladin in WoK and Shallan in WoR. The books they're dedicated to seem to just have the flashbacks to help establish the characters. Rysn having Interludes may serve a very similar function, especially if the relevant parts of her character-building are happening contemperaneously with world events, rather than before-hand. I'd definitely like to see more of her, and it certainly seems like we will, but I'm not nearly as interested in her past as I am with those who have talked with the Nightmother and received boons of the Old Magic. ChocolateRob
But who else is getting prologue POVs? Do only the first five books show treaty night or all ten? Who's perspectives of treaty night would show something new? Eshonai for sure, maybe Amaram, was Taravingian there? I doubt Gavilar's would show anything new that would not be covered by Eshonai or Amaram.

I know you're the curator of the WoR tour WoB compilation, so I don't doubt you, but where's the exact quote?
Awesomeness Summoned
I'm having troubles finding a quote from Brandon saying exactly "Lift will have a book" but he has stated that she will be very important in the later books on several occasions. Some of those statements can be found on This Thread. There are also a few similar quotes in the Words of Brandon thread I think. Whether she gets a flashback book or not I think is uncertain (unless I'm not seeing a WoB) but she will definitely be a major player.
RShara
Q: Are we going to get a book with Lift? A: You are going to get a book with Lift as a main character. It is going to happen I promise. And I'll probably do some more shorts with Lift because she is so much fun. Q: Do you know the order of 6-10? A: I know whose they are but I haven't decided the order. Lift is one, Taln is one. The person who calls himself Taln. Q: Lift is my favorite character even though she was only in that one chapter. A: You will see much more of Lift in the future. Lift is seeded there because she will be very important later on. Q: Interludes having characters on the other side of the world - when can we see Lift again? A: She is seeded for future use, indeed. Some of these interludes are for characters that I'll need in the future. Lift is there because she's going to do much Awesomeness in the future. Q: Are we going to see any more of Lift? A: Lift has a book. Q: In the Stormlight Archive, there are a lot of Knight Radiant classes that are set at the end. Could you provide what abillities they have? Like Bondsmith? A: Bondsmith I haven't really gotten into yet, though Bondsmith is next to Windrunners which means they will share one ability with Windrunners. Q: What are Lift's abilities called? A: Lift is Abrasion and Progression. Q: Do you have a name of that type of Knight? A: She's an Edgedancer. Q: Is she going to have more of a story later on? A: Yes, Lift is one of the characters who was originally planned for the back five. She is very popular
GreyPilgrim
Thank you very much, RShara! I am about ten times more excited for the arc 2 books than I have ever been! I don't care if Shallan and Kaladin step into the background if we get to see so much of Lift! Also cool to see more of Wyndle; he is the most interesting bonding spren we've seen!
