This is the Chinese cover art for WoK.  This is Gorgeous. It's like Brandon Sanderson via Gendy Tarakovsky.

I found it on Brandon's site. http://brandonsanderson.com/beta/wp-content/gallery/stormlight-1-cover-gallery/02_wok_chinese.jpg

Edit:  Changed name of topic to more broad "Cover art " general category per Natans' good suggestion.

I liked it because it's obvious that the artists know the story very well.  And they took it stylized in a direction I've never imagined but it still fits perfectly with the story.  Really cool.

P.S.  I really posted this because I was 2 upvotes away from HoA and I needed that extra boost to get over the edge.

Yeah, it irks me when the armor doesn't overlap and there is skin showing on their arms and legs and that sort of thing, but it does look really cool, so it passes my inspection.

I found the European covers a bit bland, and the high medieval weapons and armour on the UK cover just annoy me. I do really like the Chinese cover, though. From a quick google search, it does not look like there is a Japanese version, maybe we could PAFO? (seriously, how do you summon him?)

EDIT: spelling

Don't work, i already tried., He are like a major deity of chaos, if we got a really nice theory discussion going on he would drop by and say something like "  l Like this one" or drop a cryptic tidbit that would make us wonder and then he would vanish  in the shadows to watch we discuss until the death the new info. Devious =)

Side note I know the ritual to summon Lady Feather (post that Renarin will die fighting Szeth) and Kuskistan  (Make some tall promise that he could use against you in the future) that help in some way ?

I really love those French covers. They're awesome. I love the look of the Chinese Cover, since I am professedly a sucker for stained glass. It's lovely to see the artists come up with their interpretation of the book, and it shows that they actually, you know, read it.

Strange what the series titles translate to for the regional demographic. Is that one literally, "The War of Storms"? Different feel than "The Stormlight Archive". French is "The Rosharian Archives". Anyone care to give the direct Chinese translation? My Chinese isn't even conversational.

Ah I LOVED this cover!!! I could stare at it for a long long time but still feel how awesome it is! The cover artist is one of my favourite! (He is also famous for his LOTR and Hobbit art) When I got the news that he would do the WoK simplified Chinese cover, I just couldn't sleep that night because I was so excited! The final one we see on the book is also satisfying. I really hope they would let this brilliant artist to do all the rest books! Once I messaged the artist on deviantART, he said it would depend on the publisher. Well, please let it happen!

The Stormlight Archive is called in Chinese "飓光志", which exactly means "The Stormlight Archive". (Stormlight = 飓光 --> Storm = 飓 & Light = 光, and Archive = 志) In Taiwan the series is called "飓光典籍" and "典籍" is another variation of "志" which means "archive". In both versions The Way of Kings is called "王者之路" which also doesn't chage the original English meaning but is interpreted in a delicate way. If translated directly, it is "The Kings' Way". I also heard from the translator that he intended to translate "The Way of Kings" into "王道" (王 = Kings, 道 = Way) which sounds really neat and powerful. But I don't know why they gave up on it. Perhaps they want to keep the title the same as the Taiwan version which came out a bit earlier. Another thing, plural form is not explicit in Chinese so how to interpret "Kings" is another question.

Please note that what we see in the OP picture is not the final version of the cover, the font and the final translation of the title was changed because of some issues. But I liked the artistic feeling of the former font.

Hey guys and gals I think I should share some photos with you since I have my Chinese copy by my side =) Beside the book set there're some gifts the set includes: a bookmark and a pin with the Ten Herald circle for the readers who preorder online, and four postcards for all readers who buy the set. But sadly we don't get the bigger version of these four pictures in the book =(

WoK is split into three books and they are wrapped up by an outer cover skin:

The cover design of the three books is exactly the same except for the change of the line color. Here is book one (back and front):

I posted all the photos I took last year on tumblr when I first got the copy. If you're interested, you can click this link: [X]

Also, the French cover is great! And I'm dying to see the Japanese cover! (I tried some Google search but didn't get anything...)

Apologize for the long post, but I'm serious about art, foreign language and translation =)

EDIT: Nevermind. Botanica got it much better than I.

Does anyone know if the hair color on the heralds on the Chinese Cover art is Canon ? because that's a nice little tidbit for trying to pick out possible hidden Heralds in the series........

Additionally, is it Canon that  Kelek is really fat?  haha
