Steeldancer he/him Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 I think the topic sums it up pretty easily. The highstorms ARE coming back, which is great. STORMLIGHT! I'm also wondering if perhaps Ialai is a ghostblood, if she knows mraize. could that be the source of her amazing network?
Aleksiel Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Ialai probably wouldn't want to reveal herself to Shallan, thus I doubt she would have agreed to have Mraize there if she was part of GB. I agree he might be part of her network of spies, but only to the amount GB have allow it and use it for their benefit.
Steeldancer he/him Posted October 10, 2017 Author Posted October 10, 2017 Hm. Then the question is, does Ialai know about Shallans stunts? She must. News of the Ghostbloods must travel fast in the underworld.

My guess is she is not, and Mraize just managed to get in charge of her network, which as a real Ghostblood should be very easy for him :-) EDT: wording Edited October 10, 2017 by Michael Portz
Toaster Retribution he/him Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 I have wondered before if Sadeas was a member of a Secret Society, since Gavilar suspected him of sending Szeth. The other people on Gavilars list were Thaidakar and Restares, a Ghostblood and a Son of Honor. Having Mraize there could support that idea. That said I really like @Michael Portz idea about Mraize simply being her head spy, and I find it most likely that Ialai isn't a Ghostblood, but that Mraize is using her. If this is true, it would really show how dangerous Mraize is. Ialai is supposed to be great at politics, and if Mraize can play her, he can play basically anyone else among the political characters we have seen so far, except maybe Jasnah (and Wit, but no one can play Wit).
Govir Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 I really want Mraize to have another name. Gives a "false" name here, because that's what he's known to Ialai as Adolin recognizes him, and is surprised to see him there (i.e. not as Mraize)
Sliverofnone Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Mraize's day job is as man servant to Ialai, so he can finance his evening and weekend Ghostblooding... 3
Frostlander Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 It's also possible that the people in the tavern who saw Shallan's impulsive carving of the GB symbol are a connection between the two. It could explain the timing of the meeting and the presence of both of them. I'm sure Mraize already has some idea of what's going on, but I could see the tavern sycophants as involved with Ialai.

I'm also on board with Mraize having weaseled his way into being Ialai's lead spy guy. That seems like something he would do.
