Toaster Retribution he/him Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 Aladar has a daughter, apparently. Any theories on her importance to the story? Or is she someone in disguise? It would be wierd to introduce her in an already exposition-filled chapter if she was a random background character.
Popular Post +Ravioli Posted August 30, 2017 Popular Post Posted August 30, 2017 I bet Adolin has dated her at some point. 20
WhiteLeeopard she/her Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 Uhh, I find it hard to believe one of the worldhoppers/heralds would be "the daughter of" a named character. She wasn't the only character introduced, the orange eyed lady was too (interesting color).
redbishop Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 My guess is that May is an homage by the author, perhaps to a friend or a fan. The name seems unusually non-Rosharan. As to the lady with orange eyes, I expect there is some Elsecaller influence in her ancestry, purely based on Battar's association with Zircon from the chart of the Essences.
Toaster Retribution he/him Posted August 30, 2017 Author Posted August 30, 2017 Wasn't the orange-eyed lady Telebs wife/widow?

FiveLate Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 May could also be a nickname for a more Althethi name...Mayam...Yamay lol..or in reality 1 letter off. So mayan, mayash, Yamash, etc. 5

I mean, surely she wouldn't be mentioned as being in her mid 20s if Adolin hadn't tried. Only reason her age would be in there haha

It was stated that adolin had dated all the women of proper age and rank in the warcamps, and in WoR every single time he met a girl - or even when a girl was simply mentioned! - dialogue implied they had been dating at a point. I wonder if May could be a romantic foil, as we have been told that there will be Shalladin moments in the book.
Rasha Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 (edited) Aladar is so pious that he named his daughter with the start of a priere and his name. S each time someone names his daughter completely, they are adressing a request to their god Aladar. Watch out for Aladar's Ascension. Edit: I am on mobile and cannot find the way to delete one of my double post. Can a kindly mod do it? Edited September 5, 2017 by Rasha Double post.
