Argent he/him
Weller Book Works is now accepting requests for signed & number copies of Words of Radiance. According to the email I received: A maximum of two copies may be ordered per customer. The price is $23.19 per copy plus tax and/or shipping if applicable. That's 20% off the cover price of $28.99. All shipping is via USPS Priority Mail. Because of the large size of Words of Radiance, we cannot securely ship it in a padded envelope, so all books will be shipped in a medium box. Shipping prices are as follows:US Domestic box - $13.00 Canada Priority Mail box - $ 42.00 All other international Priority Mail box - $62.00 Orders will be purchased with Paypal only. All orders must be placed via e-mail by e-mailing [email protected] (subject line: Words of Radiance orders). When you order, please let us know how you would like your copy personalized. Tell us "signature only" if you just want it signed and numbered. If you would like it signed to you or to a friend, say, e.g., "Sign it 'to John.'" If you have a PayPal account, please include your PayPal email in your order so that we can invoice you. Please include your shipping address when ordering. This promotion is limited to 500 copies of Words of Radiance, and all orders must be received and paid for by February 15, 2014. This is one of the rare occasions I am truly happy to live in the US. $62, or even $42 for shipping is a little more than what I am comfortable paying for a number and a signature (the latter of which I can get on a signing a couple of weeks after the release). Also, the fact that the book is too big to fit in a padded envelope and has to go in a medium box is pretty wonderful too.

SirVarrock he/him
Cross border shipping gets insane. I only live about 15-20 minutes north of the border and can ship stuff to a small town not much further south, but then duty fees get annoying. don_karma_II he/him
The signed book is 28$ and the shipping is 62$? It'll be way cheaper to ship it to a friend in US and then have him mail it to you or bring it along when he visits.

Still very much want the Tor/US version the UK version is just so ugly. Any help available? You can buy it from Amazon US, who will ship it to the UK. I live in the UK too, but I have ordered a signed and numbered edition. Expensive? Yeah sure, but in 10 years I won't care about paying £53 for a book, I will care about the signature, the personalisation and the number. PS I am however a bit of a collector - I am also getting the UK version of the hardcover. The US copies are just so nice! I recently got a US tWoK from Brandon's website, and the endpapers, embossing etc are a lot nicer than my UK hardcover.
PeterAhlstrom he/him
Unfortunately, books are heavy, and heavy things are expensive to ship internationally. The store did two tests where they stuffed a similar-sized book into an envelope (which would have been cheaper to ship), but in both tests the corners of the book were significantly damaged. So, the more expensive box is the only viable option. They were able to ship Steelheart in an envelope because it's a much smaller book and the padded envelope offered enough protection for a book that size. But that won't fly with Words of Radiance.
Argent he/him
@Peter, do you know if Brandon will be personalizing the Weller copies beyond just the name? As in, could I ask for an answer of a question related to his works, similarly to how I could if I ordered a personalized book from the site's store? Maximus
I am unclear about how one pays for the Weller copies, do they send an email with payment information?
rjl
Guess I'll just wait till the bookdepository stocks it, they do free shipping. A week or more after release and not signed, but still better than the UK version (changing the cover art omitting the end pages and writing inaccurate blurbs for Brandon's books should be illegal). And I think getting bit a couple of weeks later is better than spending $60 on shipping

As in, could I ask for an answer of a question related to his works, similarly to how I could if I ordered a personalized book from the site's store? Yes, you can. I have done so with Weller's multiple times. I still remember one time when I had to call about it... the poor guy was like "that's what you want him to sign it with?" firstRainbowRose she/her
No, he's not. But sure do love to tease him with his signings. The last one I believe was what was the name of a shard we don't know and Josh wrote in the front "Esticacy" with a fake signature. (Josh is really good at forging Brandon's siggy). Then somewhere in the middle Brandon gave the real answer and the real signature. We've also had his book signed up side down, and all sorts of craziness. Also, you are totally welcome to ask for something custom! We've had the opening paragraph of Eye of the World in german (or swedish), a lot of doodle request. One guy asked for a random fact (and got the fact that a squid's pupil is square shaped with a picture of a squid)... I'm trying to think of some of the other crazy stuff that's been done. A lot of it is really tame. Lots of cosmere questions (which always gets the question of "Is this one of you guy's people? Seriously, if you're a sharder, put so and your username in parathesis. We might have some fun with it!). Lot of just "to x" and then whatever the standard answer is. Actually, that the most popular thing I see is "To X".
Ethrien he/him
Does anyone know if the exact subject line "words of radiance orders" is important? The post on Brandons website didn't mention a specific subject line so I went with "Brandon sanderson - words of radiance"
bartbug he/him
Sorry about my lack of knowledge about this, but what does the numbering add to the coolness of the book? There's a signing nearish to my house two days after release, but I would just be getting the signature. It's a lot cheaper this way, too. Is there an actual difference? Think I'll ask whether the Spiritual Realm has a name (in some language) similar to how Shadesmar is a loose translation of "cognitive realm" in the language of whoever coined the term. Link he/him
I'm sure they have a million orders coming through at the moment, but does anyone know if they're replying at all or just sending an invoice email? I ask because I missed stuff in the original email and had to send a second one, and I felt like a massive idiot. I ended up getting Steelheart on release day, too, which was great

If you can go to a signing, go to a signing. The Weller option is mostly for people who aren't near a tour city. The number is more of a coolness factor than anything else, and doesn't add value to the book unless it's a super low number. And the most dedicated fans aren't going to sell their books anyway.
