Robinski
And there you have it I like that you're thinking outside the box about pushing the envelope though, @hawkedup. @Mandamon and I were in a smaller group online which used G-Docs and it was very effective, but in a slightly different way, for the reasons noted.
Robinski
So, I've got 80% of my Hugo reading still to do; my RE critiquing from this week still pending; I'm working on N-E-U for a hard June, 28th submission date; I want another edit of Rosso before submitting to GSFWC by June, 14th--clearly, the last thing I need is another project, but... I think maybe I'm going to start this: just for a couple of minutes before I get down to work

Robinski
Project 75192: Update 1 - Inventory Step 1: I've opened the box... I can't actually see the instruction manual from where I'm standing There are 63 packets: six labelled '1'; five labelled '3'; four each labelled, '4', '5', '6', '12' and '16'. There are three bags not labelled at all. And so it goes, up to '17' (three bags). Non-Lego aficionados may think this is strange, but it makes perfect sense!! Honest! Step 2: Re-pack all the bags into the four sub-boxes in the right order for assembly, leaving out the bags for Stage 1, of course: Pages 20 to 76. Are we having fun yet? (Yes!!) The Hogwarts castle just had sequentially numbered bags and I think three that were general large items. Did the manual actually say to repack it that way into the boxes, or is that your organization?

Robinski
Project 75192: Update 2 - early stages (internal frame) The frame is a really key part of the structure, due to the overall weight. There's an interesting doubling of thin pieces in the middle of the frame structure. I love the forward planning, seeing where Technic pegs are not in final position, but will slide into place when married with another construction to secure modular sections together.
Mandamon
Lego has really progressed with making a good internal structure for their large sets. I got the Star Destroyer about ten years ago and the side plates fall off if you're not careful. Compare that to Hogwarts and the structure is much more stable. In college, I was able to reinforce lego structures enough to make a really good rubber band gun with extra long rubber bands...took a lot of thinking.
molah
My brother in law has the millennium falcon as well. It makes a really nice piece for a glass coffee table There a tons of people who've done that, according to google: https://www.google.com/search?q=millennium+falcon+coffee+table

Thanks, Molah, I think Some great ideas here, and many, many, many other amazing Lego displays on Pantrest. Helm's Deep, dear G*d Those guys are seriously hard core, touring conventions, etc. Project 75192: Update 3 - frame (and Bags No.1) complete There are numerous really strong bracing features in the frame (1>2). Four quadrants of the frame join (3) to an internal cross-shape (essentially). Illustrating the Technic pegs being engaged from the 'ready' position (4), to the 'engaged' position (5) once the assembly is in place, making a really solid connection. The density of connectors near the core of the frame is quite something (6)... and the frame is complete (7). That's the bags numbered '1' finished, only Nos. '2' to '17' to go!

Robinski
Project 75192: Update 4 - Bags No.2 - 'Mass' Production ("What the heck are these things?") Only three bags this time around, and construction of six identical elements. But what the heck are they...? Nice ratchet detail allowing the edge pieces to fold in and create an angular appearance. Ohhh, they're feet! Of course they are.

Silk
Unrelated, but look, I co-wrote another song and now there's a recording of the live performance we did last month! My co-writer, Tristan, and I have totally different processes so it was really interesting to collaborate on this one.
kais
I've had a family emergency come up so I'll be MIA for a bit. I'll get to the remaining crits as soon as I can. Sorry for the delay.

Robinski
I love listening to writers talk about writing. I also love to listen to journalists talk about film. Anyway, for RE purposes, there's a very enjoyable (I thought) interview with Lee Child (author of 25? Jack Reacher books) from the Empire Podcast (well-respected movie magazine in the UK) in which Child talks about various things, but touches on his writing style and process. I thought there were some good snippets. It's not technical, but I just think he's very easy to listen to. Episode #290. I think you need to get via iTunes or Soundcloud or some such. https://www.empireonline.com/tags/empire-podcast/9/ Edited June 16, 2019 by Robinski

It was a little more organised than that; the organiser asked us let him know what kinds of music we wrote and were interested in writing for the collaboration, and tried to match us up based on that, I believe. The one I did last year in Vancouver (I believe I shared that demo as well) as a little more random. The organisers for that one basically just tried to make sure every group had an instrument.
Robinski
Project 75192: Update 5 - Bags No.3 - 'Mini-figures!!' So, this is the first of four 'platforms' constructed separately, that fit into the four quadrant of the frame (Image 5). It has a sliding 'trapdoor' that turns out to house a cannon. Odd to find a rubber element, not common in Lego and therefore of particular interest! It's purpose seems to be to give resistance to the sliding of the door, so it only slides under finger pressure, and not randomly as you 'fly' your Millennium Falcon around the room in hyperspace. The platform is satisfyingly 'pegged' into place with the prepositioned bolts. Then, it's minifigure time!! Porgs! Woo hoo. They don't seem impressed by Chewy and C3-PO. Porg #1: "That shiny one, he never shuts up." Porg #2: "Tell me about it, but at least he doesn't shed on the carpet."
