Axies in Oathbringer

Recommended Posts

I'd say most probably. He's a good pre-established character who travels around a lot. The primary function of the interludes is to show us more of Roshar. It would make more sense to continue using Axies and Rysn instead of creating yet another new character that we have to keep track of, for at least one of the interludes each. I'm completely fine with the introduction of new characters but when Sanderson has a convenient character to use it seems a shame not to utilize them.

I agree, I think it's pretty likely. I really enjoyed his interlude, he's one of the most unique characters so far.  I suspect a lot of what we could learn from his point of view about spren would be important in later books, like the two ardents measuring spren.

IIRC Brandon once said he and Rysn will keep appearing in the books (at least in the first arc, couldn't find the WoB right now) since they are always travelling and introducing the worldbuilding. The best guess is that these two become regular interlude characters and get their chapter(s) alternatingly. (We have Axies chapter in WoK and Rysn chapter in WoR. So maybe Axies will have screen time in Oathbringer? And Edgedancer also reveals new info on Aimians.)

Axies is one of my favorite characters in SA. I'd love to see him more!

Rysn has had chapters in both books so far. I suspect that rather than alternating, Brandon assigns Interludes to whoever is currently in a position to give us a glimpse at whatever other part of Roshar he wants us to learn about at a given time. So we got Axies in WoK because he wanted to introduce us to him/Siah Aimians, Cusicesh and anything else that chapter might have been setting up. Rysn got two so far because Brandon wanted to show us Shinovar firsthand, then the Reshi Isles, with both giving us a bit more about Thaylen culture as well.

That's my guess at how he decides what Interludes will appear, any rate.

By technicality, Axies was in Rysn's Interlude in Book 2.. But your probably right, whoever is in a place that has interesting stuff gets an Interlude PoV
