So, gonna download it from our service provider and get caught up. I'm...curious, though. Reckon it could be really good, or really bad. Thoughts? I think it's quite good. Be warned though, it's not a superhero story. I mean - obviously it is a superhero story but so far it's more of a story of man with mental illness.

I'm still upset that it stole the name of the Sanderson story so that it will either have to be rebranded or burn in development Damnation.

You do realize that Legion aka David Haller is a far older character than Sanderson's Legion? He first appeared in 1985. It makes me somewhat uneasy, to be honest; David has multiple personalities and each has unique mutant powers - Stephen has multiple personalities and each has unique abilities... I'm really, really glad that mental illness is getting represented; I'm just cautious about how it's going to be handled.

I'm well aware of this, but I was quite looking forward to seeing Leeds hit the screen. The similarities are indeed quite uncanny.

A villain from the Yu Yu Hakusho had it, too.

I watched the first episode, and it struck me as going for, "This guy isn't actually mentally ill, he just thinks he is because of the way his powers work."

I definitely remember hearing that as part of the pitch at one point. That might be a safer way to play things, and it's not like fidelity to the source material has ever been FOX's main concern with the X-Men franchise.

Mental illness is so rarely well-portrayed in films and tv shows.

Safer shouldn't be read as better, because you're right. Mental illness is rarely depicted well, or gets reduced to (inappropriate and ill-fitting) buzzwords. (For instance, from what I've read, Sherlock's insistence that the title character is a "high functioning sociopath" is wrong because Sherlock doesn't meet any of the definitions of such) Maybe there was a concern about glamorising mental illness, or trivialising it by associating it with super powers. I dunno; but I can see why they would go that route, even if I disagree with it.

I see it more like "your mind makes it real" matrix kind of thing. He does have multiple personalities AND he's a godlike mutant. It's hard - if not outright impossible - to separate which is causing which.
Quiver he/him Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 I have just found out that a local sports centre does archery tuition. I am so tempted to sign up for that. 2

Erunion he/him Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 @Quiver archery is fun. I'm a backyard archer, and not bad, but getting professional training / help makes a world of difference. If you can commit to it, I strongly recommend getting archery training.

TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Me: Let's see….I'd like a nice, simple recipe for a simple tomato soup with rice. Recipe: Finely chop carrots, celery, and leeks. Cream the mushrooms, and add olive oil and half of the parmesan cheese. Stew for 15 hours before adding tomatoes, then cook for another 3 days. Cook rice on low heat beneath the light of a full moon, preferably in a silver pot to ward off any stray werewolves. Combine ingredients in a school gym while surrounded by capuchin monkeys enthusiastically clapping their hands. Drizzle with molten gold. Serve atop Mount Rushmore. Me: Never mind, I'll just wing it. 5
Oversleep Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 @Quiver, go do it. I've wanted to do archery for some time now but I can't find no place in my city that deals with archery.

Quiver he/him Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 @Oversleep@Deliiiiiightful@Erunion So, minor archery update. I might not be able to do the tuition for a while (between costs and scheduling) but they do offered thing where you can shoot 30 arrows for minimum cost. Also, they run combat archery sessions. 'kay, I offically have a goal. Self-teach myself archery Oliver Queen style, and win a combat archery game. Well, my parents always wanted me to get into a sport... (Plus, a fantasy setting I have is based around archery so, research) 5
