Random Stuff X: Something Weird

It helps a lot since before I encountered her online I didn't have anyone to really talk to about this stuff.

Well it's more him who discussed that, she doesn't even suspect he feels that way. We both personally feel she would never agree to one because she needs his paycheck too much (he's a trucker so most of that goes towards his gas) But I do agree, it's his problem and he should resolve it his way.

It won't really be resolved until I'm away from her permanently since one of the ways toxic parents keep control is to make it pretty hard for their adult children to leave at all.

 

In other news I've been working on dates for my sabbatical and need a second opinion to make sure I've got the date right on one. Pretty much I want to arrive in California on 9/30 and departing from Tokyo. Would the departure date be 9/30? I just want to make sure because of the whole international date line confusion.

The Power Rangers comic is almost to the end of their big crossover event and I started thinking of when each season takes place before the Grid got shattered. Most are very easy but others are a mess to figure out.

MMPR: We follow them in the comic so we know when it happens

Alien Rangers: It was a 10 episode miniseries so anywhere between episodes 2-9

Zeo: Takes place after the final episode because in the annual Drakkon attacks during Jason's going away party and Jason is the Gold Ranger until the final episode before giving it back to Trey

Turbo: Here's the first hard one because the only confirmed survivor is Phantom Ranger who first shows up in episode 23 so it could be anywhere since we don't see which team is there

Space: The annual shows the attack and Silver Ranger isn't there and the characterization of the Rangers matches the pre-Silver episodes so it's before episode 20 but two of the Psycho Rangers are part of Drakkon's army so it's after 31 so it's hard to pinpoint the exact time it happens

Lost Galaxy: Karone is the Pink Ranger so it's after 32 but it's before the Lost Galaxy arc so before 35

Lightspeed Rescue: Titanium Ranger isn't mentioned but he barely appeared in the season so it's difficult to pinpoint the time

Time Force: Quantum Ranger is alive but Pink is on good terms with him and he doesn't become friendly to the other Rangers until the finale so this could be post-season

Wild Force: Sometime after 16 since Silver is there

Ninja Storm: Sometime after 18 since Cam is the Green Samurai Ranger

Dino Thunder: This ones tricky since the only rangers seen are Red, Blue and Yellow and nothing on Black and White so this could be anywhere

SPD: Somewhere between 12 and 21 because Doggie is Shadow Ranger and Omega Ranger hasn't arrived yet

Mystic Force:  This ones crazy to figure out. Koragg is here so it's before 21 when he starts his redemption back into Leanbow... but Udonna has her White Ranger powers which she lost after episode 2 and didn't reclaim them until 29 and Solaris Knight isn't here yet so it's before 13. Using those clues the only time this could take place is the first episode... except the main five aren't assembled until after Udonna lost her powers so this season is impossible to place

Operation Overdrive: Could be anywhere since the only survivor is Blue

Jungle Fury: Sometime after 19 since White Rhino has to be there for Drakkon to take morpher to make a White Rhino Ranger Sentry

RPM: Sometime after 14 because Gold and Silver are there

Samurai: Post-season since Jayden is off investigating something so Lauren is the Red Ranger again. Interestingly Clash of the Red Rangers seems to have not occurred in either Samurai or RPM's universes

Megaforce: Sometime during the Super season since Yellow and Blue use those powers

Dino Charge: Post-season because Heckyl is the Dark Ranger, something that was supposed to happen but didn't so this is after the season. How he becomes Dark Ranger will be revealed during Beyond the Grid

Ninja Steel: Sometime during the gap between NS and Super

Hyperforce: They accidentally end up in Drakkon's world in episodes 19 & 20 and are back in their timeline in 21

Beast Morphers:... I'm not even going to bother since the season airs next year so anywhere after episode 1/2

Its interesting that the Morphing Grid cut off some seasons/teams towards the beginning, after the Sixth Rangers appear or once their season is over while now having all the seasons happening in 2018 (makes Alien-Space interesting since they are in their own years in the show meaning there's 2 Jason's on different teams and with Tommy on so many that means he's a teen and an adult in 2018)

Been watching some Star Wars videos lately. Geez Kennedy sure is toxic and unappreciative of the fans, well the male side of it. I mean I don't think it's a good idea to insult the men when they make up the vast majority of your revenue and because of that they are fighting back against the series first with Solo (I never planned on seeing it in the first place since the anthology films just sounded meh to me) and now with Resistance (getting close to a million dislikes apparently) with some talk of boycotting Episode 9 as well. Even Disney is dissatisfied with her to the point of wanting someone else in charge of Lucasfilms, similar in model to how Marvel and Pixar run themselves, and she keeps coming up with crem excuses like "Oh, that film was a mess because of the director" but you know who's there to make sure the director doesn't mess up? The producer and she's the producer! Also how can she blame the directors when they haven't kept them for whole projects? And the story corrector group (the folks who keep the canon in check) don't even have a clear goal according to the directors and writers since they give the people no restrictions on stories and when turning the manuscript in they can then decline it or approve it but then tell the writer 'oh and can you include this character? They're going to appear in an upcoming movie' so they have to shoehorn a character that wasn't planned at all. Also when Rian was writing the script for The Last Jedi he was surprised how much free reign he had and couldn't get a straight answer on what not to do so he spent a few weeks down the hall from the group to pitch ideas and just kept telling him 'okay!' and that's how we end up with Leia in space and the revelation about Rey's parents. If I was commissioned to write a book for Star Wars I would actually tell them 'No, you will tell me a basic idea of what you want from this story and then I'll figure out how to incorporate it' and if they wanted the manuscript first and then telling me what to shoehorn in I would rebel.

I have fully embraced being a thestral (Harry Potter reference) as a part of my job being a bus driver. I try to greet and engage the students, but the only thing they have ever said is when one asked if I got a haircut; when I replied yes another student piped up, "I just assumed we got a new driver." Seriously I see them twice a day for weeks, but a haircut is a impenetrable disguise haha!

@Kidpen Some of the drivers are real grumps and couldn't care about anything, but for a lot of us simply saying good morning  or "Thanks for the ride" really makes a difference.

My mom wants to go to the movies tomorrow but it's the situation where what she wants to see is something I'm not interested in and I'm trying to figure out what to see but nothing ever matches up because runtimes are different and the times means one of us will be waiting around no matter what. Then there's the fact that depending on the theater hers starts as late as 3:30 at the earliest! I hate it when movie interests don't line up (as in there's a movie I want to see and one she wants to see) or almost line up (one comes out and the others film is on its last legs and only shown at night)

I've got a real first world problem on my hands right now...all of the library books I put a hold on became available at once and I don't believe I can finish them before due date; perhaps I can recheck them out.

That certainly takes a bit of getting used to! A lot of people prefer manuel, once they get the hang of it, because it makes driving more of a interactive experience (and less boring) but I always hated it. I have enough things to worry about, while driving, without having to preform a balancing act with my feet and trying to match the correct gear to the speed I wish to obtain. Best of luck learning something new!

I went to a kids coding competition the last two days. We didn't win, but I felt like it was a good experience, and the winning teams had fantastic games. For people wondering, my team was in Unity/C#, and the topic that every game had to fall into was transportation and invention.

So today, I saw this gif ad for Conoco. Pretty simple stuff—it showed white text on a red background with the word "Choose," and different words cycling beneath that one. One of those words was "Funtimes." 

Not "Fun Times." Not "Fun times." "Funtimes." Conoco is telling its customers to "Choose Funtimes." 

Unfortunately, I cannot for the life of me get this ad to resurface. So if you guys find it somewhere, or if you're able to take a screenshot of the necessary panel, let me know? Because I must have it.

Went to B&N and grabbed Power Rangers Lost Chronicles 1, Power Rangers Archive 1, MST3K Volumes 36-38. Love the Power Rangers comics and glad to be getting closer to finishing MST3K since this is now 55/176 episodes

Is the on-going any good? I have to admit, I've been a little tempted to pick up the Shattered Grid stuff (which means I'd have to buy the entire run up to that point, because I'm a completionist), but the only thing I've read of them so far has been the crossover with the Justice League, which was... fine.

It's pretty good. You get a lot more out of the Rangers, Zordon and the villains than you do in the show. You grow to care about these characters a lot more as well. So far the trade paperbacks have everything before Shattered Grid so you can catch up on them before the Shattered Grid collection starts next year.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The main series focusing on the team post-Green With Evil

Go Go Power Rangers: Shows the team during their early days before Tommy shows up. Haven't read it yet but I've heard it's better than the main series in terms of characterization.

Pink: Shows what happened to Kimberley after she left and why she wrote Tommy that "Dear John" letter

Power Rangers/Justice League: You already know this one

Power Rangers Aftershock: A small sequel to the movie

Soul of the Dragon: Focuses on Tommy as an old man trying to find his son who's gone missing (coming in December)

Archives: Collects all the comics from before Boom! started doing the comics.

Now when it comes to Shattered Grid you have to know the stories of both the main series and Go Go since a character from Go Go is part of the whole event and reveals some stuff not covered in the main stuff. To know the whole story, just on Shattered Grid itself, you need: MMPR #24-30, GGPR #8-12, Free Comic Book Day, 2018 Annual and Shattered Grid Finale #1 along with episodes 19 & 20 of the Hyper RPG show Power Rangers Hyperforce.
