VirtuousTraveller Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 So while it could still be entirely possible, Braize doesn't scream as loudly as Damnation or the Tranquiline Halls as I thought it would. Ashyn is described as "the burning planet," which sounds more like Hell/Damnation to me (granted, my lens comes from a Christian background). It sounds like Odium is holed up in the Physical and Cognitive Realms in the Greater Roshar system, but the essay didn't explicitly (or exclusively) say he's on Braize. Maybe the Tranquiline Halls and/or Damnation are in the Cognitive or Spiritual Realms?

With Khriss's mention of Cognitive Shadows on the planet, I think it's definitely behind their perception of the afterlife.
VirtuousTraveller Posted November 22, 2016 Author Posted November 22, 2016 AU Spoilers Spoiler Do you think that the gas giants in the system play more into the place where the Heralds return for torture, rather than Braize, now that we see a visualization of the system?
Argent he/him Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 @VirtuousTraveller, the entire thread is already flagged for AU spoilers, you don't need to use spoiler tags inside As to your question, maybe. I doubt it, but I think there is something fishy about the presence of those gas giants. They don't feel normal. 3

Or each Herald came from a different gas giant? Stormlight behaves sort of like a gas, so another potential tie-in....

WeiryWriter he/him Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 It's less that they are named after the Heralds, I think, and more that they are numbered using numbers derived from the names of the Heralds.

Full Metal Rithmatist Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 There is however ten of these suspiciously similar gas giants, and ten heralds. Given that they are on the outside of the solar system its my belief that the ten gas giants by some bond with the heralds form the barrier that keeps odium with the Rosharan system.
natc Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 Well everything seems to be 10 or multiples of 10 around these parts, and I highly doubt you can fit 20 gas giants in here . . .
